  1. We all see it different guys, I see all his many faults holding our team back. The thought of him getting much game time next season worries me terribly. I will say it again, he is a terrible passer, has abysmal close control, terrible reader of the game, terrible finisher, and the one asset he always had, pace, has long since gone. All I ever get back is he has done well. I suppose it depends on how low you set the bar. Yes he usually works hard, is a great guy around the dressing room and by all accounts has been a good help to our young guys. Our results and form since he has replaced Waggy as leader of the front line isn't supportive of the Miller for President lobby! I don't hate the guy, I just think we could and should be doing a lot better for the money.
  2. I don't know what you have been watching but Miller is, was, and always will be, substandard. Poor control, poor finishing, dreadful reading of the game, and his one major asset, pace, has long since gone. I wouldn't have him in my top 11 Rangers players of the season never mind the top 11 from the whole league. Look at our results since Waggys injury that I posted the other day, Miller leading the line has been an abject failure.
  3. Our small squad and high energy tactics are coming home to roost IMO. It is impossible for a small squad to play the type of football Warbs wants and last the season when playing for Rangers. Take out Waghorn and our attack has been poor. Since he went off injured at Rugby Park we have played 14 games, losing 3 drawing 3 and only putting in good performances in the cups. Our league form since February has been really poor. Not results necessarily, but our form. Two really good performances in the last 14 games, Dundee and celtic. A few decent performances where we got the job done with a minimum of fuss, Raith (h), Morton, Peterhead. And a good few where the performances have been nowhere near the standard - QotS (H&A), St Mirren, Falkirk, Dumbarton, Hibs, Alloa & Livvy. When our central defensive partnership are really focused and concentrating well, they are average. When they let their standards drop, like the last three games, they are honking the place out. Both need replaced after Hampden, without a shadow of a doubt. The more I see of this side, the more I am not convinced by the ability of some to be main players in winning 55. While it may be harsh to discard players who have contributed to a very successful season, it must be done to move forward. Wilson, Kiernan, OHalloran, Shiels, Law, Clark, Miller, are all not up to the level that is going to be required. For me we have a few players who are definately going to be good enough next season, McKay, Holt, Wallace, Tav. We then have some who have earned the right to see if they can make the step up, Halliday, Wes, Forrester, Waghorn. That is basically our 15 man squad that we have got through this season with, excepting loan players. I agree with what I am hearing from the manager & board that this was to get us through stage 1 - mission accomplished. Stage 2 will need a big step up. We should get better loan players (wouldnt take any of the 4 we have had back) after the success that we have had and the level we are moving to and this will help in our squad for next season. I know Warburton likes to work with a small squad, but this has been threadbare to the point of embarrassing when we have an empty bench, while good players like Gasparatto & Hardie are ripping it up at the same level as us and we have to watch Wilson & Kiernan, Miller & Clark give us nightmares. It will be very interesting to see what movement we have in both directions over the summer. Certainly the most interesting summer we have had since the downsizing by the bank under Walter's reign came into effect around 2009-10.
  4. Delighted to read the tours are selling out every time, and quickly at that. Keep up the excellent work Sir!
  5. ST have not had free Euro ties for at least 15 years. The last freebie I remember was when we got one free home league cup tie. I don't think we got even that in 2011. Perhaps a free friendly rings a bell?
  6. And the first two dont really matter!!!
  7. Its not a big enough increase for what I want them to spend on the squad this summer, I was hoping for £100 per ST increase. £70. The difference might be £30 but over 40K ST it is £1M after VAT. That £1M could be the difference. I would hope that perhaps there will be a decent increase next year as well. It is a different story once we have our merchandise back, and we can help our club by spending on shop products, but for now it is really only tickets we can buy, so we need to be willing and able to step up and pay.
  8. Haven't heard of either of those stories before. All I can judge them on is the last 30 years that I have been travelling to their grounds. Do you think if we had lost the SF, they would have booked our lovely suites at Ibrox for their offsite hospitality? If not, there can only be one reason why.
  9. More sloppy defending, more sloppy finishing. Take out the OF game and we have been pretty poor for many weeks. Only two games left to play against these amateur sides that are professional in name only, and bring nothing to Scottish football. No fans, no quality, kick & defend tactics, goodbye and good riddance. If we never have to play Alloa again, it will be too soon. Let's not kid ourselves, the "romance" of this "journey" has all been manufactured as spin. For the main part, this four year punishment for being the victim of a major fraud has been abhorrent. We can now say from a position of having gone through all the divisions that our country can only sustain two divisions of professional football clubs, and the rest should be done away with from the SPFL ranks. As a paying supporter who has travelled to all of these lower league clubs over the last 4 years, there is absolutely nothing these clubs have in terms of a professional football club that is in any way shape or form professional. Annan, Brechin, Alloa, Cowdenbeath, etc all have done absolutely nothing for our game for decades, if at all, and should not have the inherited right to dine with the professional clubs. Full time professional clubs only should be part of our SPFL leagues, the rest make up the pyramid system of amateur/junior ranks.
  10. Not winning this second tier title would have been totally unacceptable. Playing football like Barcelona is utterly pointless if you cannot win a league title with more resources than all 9 of your opponents combined. Had Warburton failed to win this title, I for one would have been calling for his head, and I am absolutely certain I would be in a majority.
  11. Scum is as scum does. Brothers in sectarianism since 1888.
  12. If Warbs doesnt replace those two diddies at centre half for next season, we will not progress. Yes we got over the line against the scum at the weekend, and as fabulous as that was, the frailties that have dogged us all season were still there, and were hugely visible last night. I said to my mate at 2-0 down that the centre backs are not anywhere near good enough when they are on top form, but to see them when they are being complacent (somewhat understandable in a dead rubber match for us) is hands over the eyes stuff.
  13. I think the lad is just beginning to understand that he has got real talent and the ideal platform to show it. The goal on Sunday could be the launchpad to take his game to another level.
  14. We should be kicking on and winning our remaining 5 fixtures. Of course we can lose the first 4 as long as we win the fifth, but it is all about momentum and we really must use the euphoria of Sunday to kick on to a perfect finish to the campaign. It should be uppermost in our minds that a victory tonight will more than likely give our cup final opponents a further two games for players to get injured etc. Given Hibs recent form, they shouldn't be too hard to beat although they will be very up for it against the team that only they consider to be rivals. It would also be nice to finally win one of our away league fixtures against the top sides in our league. One of the very few faults we have had this season is our results away from home in the "big" games, with defeats against Hibs and Falkirk (twice), and Raith as well. We did beat Raith earlier in the season when Raith were nearer the bottom than the top before anyone throws that back. It will be a concern going into next season if we continue this kind of away form. Of course it is a dead rubber for us so the result is not so important, but we must do what we can do to ensure Hibs gain no confidence from us for their remaining battles ahead. Another season in the second tier for Hibs would be magnificent. We can play our part tonight.
  15. Just loaded the mobile version of the site onto my phone and that is perfect. Cheers.
  16. I tried the tapatalk app once, and found it horrible to look at and difficult to use. If it has improved I would try again. I have an iphone, do others find it the same or is it just a technophobe like me!?
  17. Bye Bye Bye Delilah!! Shame you couldnt have been allowed to stay until it was mathematically impossible for you to catch us next season, but hey ho. Next!
  18. Smashing piece by Wilson, easily the best journo at the BBC in Scotland. Balanced, critical where deserved, praising where due also. Not that difficult to do unless you are tarred by the sectarian or bigoted brush, yet the only one at BBC Scotland who could write such a piece. Come to think of it, I am struggling to think of another Scottish journo anywhere in print or online who could compete with that.
  19. I won't shed any tears if Law departs and it is correct to say he should have stopped the cross coming in, but Halliday totally switches off to leave Rogic in space for the goal, which annoyed me more than Law's effort at the time.
  20. You should be forced to watch Life of Brian as punishment for not getting the line. Although it's not even a punishment, one of the finest comedy movies of all time, with probably the greatest movie song of all time to finish it off.
  21. But Hibs hopes might be!!!
  22. Incidentally, Dolly is priced at 12/1 with Hearts at 40/1 and the rest at 200/1. Clearly the bookies don't share the concerns of some on here that think we may have to settle for third or fourth next season.
  23. I have been at liberty to tell the few tims that have been man enough to get in touch with me today that we were not at our best and I have seen us play better this season on several occasions and the game went pretty much as expected, minus the eventual outcome. I had thought it would be down to how well they took their chances, and the misses by Brown, Roberts, Griffiths coupled with a wee bit of luck (rebounding off Wes and out for a corner instead of into the net, the throw-in), were very important in our victory. It is also worth noting that Miller had a glorious chance inside 10 mins that should have been buried, and a 2 goal lead would have seen either side dead and buried I believe. For Timmy to now think they were unlucky is fantastic news for us, and long may they continue to underestimate our team spirit. Our 1 to 11 may not be, on paper, better than theirs, but we have a really good team ethos and spirit and desire, all of which look lacking over at the midden. Many tims were saying that none of our 11 would get into their team. I would flip that and say only Griffiths Roberts & Bitton would get into ours, and two of them we would not have anywhere near Ibrox for their extremist beliefs/ poor character. We know we are going to strengthen in the summer with another 5/6 players plus perhaps replacement loanees, especially if we gain Euro entry. They don't even know who is going to be in charge and have another managerial merry go round to undertake before they can even look at their bloated and expensive squad. For any betting punters out there, we are now 11/4to win the 16/17 title (9/2 before yesterday, cut to 10/3 after the game) and by the time we kick off in early August I have little doubt we will be a lot shorter.
  24. I think the days of professional footballers letting their fitness go to pot as soon as the season closes, and needing the first two weeks of pre-season just to get back to their playing weight are long over. Modern professional footballers are athletes who look after their bodies all year round. Our squad will be sent away on their holidays with their fitness plans to adhere to, and should come back fit and ready to work on their match sharpness and tactics in pre-season more than basic physical fitness. Yes, a full pre-season of training is still important, but I dont believe it is anywhere near as important these days.
  25. Our cup final against Hibs will either be very difficult or very easy depending on how Hibs play-offs have gone. If they know they are already subjected to another season in the second tier, they will be easy to beat as the heads will be well down. If they have won the play-offs it will be a tough match as they will be on a high. Either way I think we will beat them with the carrot of European football dangling and the desire this team will show to win the trophy.
