Press Conference | Steven Gerrard | Ryan Jack | 20 Nov 2020

The amount of questions fired at both SG & RJ that were to do with international football and nothing to do with our game v Dolly was ridiculous. The presser was for the coming Rangers match, journos have had 2 weeks to ask as many questions about internationals as they like. If you want to talk international football go and phone Steve Clarke, don’t waste our time with your boring repetitive questions that have nothing to do with our vital upcoming match. After an OF game, this is about as big as it gets in Scottish football, and they chunts want to ask about a game next summer? Either remove their credentials and replace them with journos that will actually ask questions about the matter in hand, or at the very least edit out the pish about international football so we don’t need to hear it. -
Club have issued a statement accepting the bans with apologies from both players. https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/club-statement-191120/1RWezibsVwF0Eic6LKbhoR

I appreciate the explanation but the “fact” remains that whether something is a good chance or a half chance, and whether a team’s play should result in 5 goals or 6 according to xg is based entirely on opinion, and the beauty of our beautiful game is that it is entirely unpredictable and made up of so many parts. Methodology is not facts, it is opinion. I would perhaps be more swayed if they took a game, say the Hamilton game, and showed us exactly how they got to the xg number, what they counted, what score they gave it, and what they didn’t count. My guess is there would be considerable argument to be had in how they got to that number. Of course we can all agree that the Hamilton xg was exactly 0.0! No debate to be had there!

xg stats are not facts, they are somebodys interpretation of what is either a chance, a good chance, a hard chance. It most certainly is not a fact. Goals are facts, clean sheets are facts, results are facts. Silly stats like xg are not facts at all. Good discussion points perhaps, indicators of progress I will give you if you look at trends with the stats, but facts they most certainly are not.

Its a lot of pish! American stats based nonsense that tells you absolutely nothing your own eyes watching a game cant tell you!

I have went for Aribo, his first half display was sublime. I agree with those above who say this was hard this week without an absolute standout but with most of the team having great games you cant argue against any of Tav, Aribo, Roofe, Kent, with Arfield and Defoe not far behind them, also worth mentioning a lovely cameo from Zunga, and good performances from the others. Not one bad performance, but not much for the likes of Goldson, Balogun, McLaughlin to do and perhaps only Barasic not up to his usual (very high) standards due to some noticeable poor crosses (they only stood out as it is very unlike him) but he done his job very well as always before the knock. I haven't enjoyed a non-pressure game (i.e. not the bheasts, Dolly etc) as much as that in a very very long time.
