So it’s the team that started the second half last week that gets the nod today. My only concern is that there is not many recent goals in that line up, but we certainly have the creativity in the side to open them up. Agree with others in that we must start with the right tempo and take the game to them right from the off. Don’t let Cheating Beaton get an influence on the game where he will ignore their persistent fouling in terms of cards but will kill the flow and tempo of the game with constant stoppages, take forever to allow play to restart etc 3 points any way we can is all I want, but a return to our fast flowing quick-passing football would be glorious.

I’ll second that, not a chance in hell we get handed a title for a season not completed. If we are 20 points clear with 7 games to go it won’t be awarded if Wee Nippy orders football to stop. I wouldn’t put it past Lawwell getting the season stopped and then voided, with all mainstream media finding ways of supporting the decision and explaining how it’s different to their tainted title. In any event I don’t want the title awarded, I wouldn’t claim it , even if it’s in the record books in the same way I don’t recognise the 19/20 title being won by anyone.

Nope, this window is for selling only. The only way we buy anyone is if we sell big and get several fringe and youth off the payroll, either permanently or loans. We could perhaps stretch to a loan if we manage to offload a huge amount of wages. It's not rocket science, we really have to start balancing the books and we should have sold at least one for big money in the summer window and we didn't, but all we done was push the sale to now. I fully expect us to sell at least one big name player, plus get some of our fringe away on loans or smaller fees sales.

I see the SPFL/SFA are upping their game, giving cheatin Beaton the big game this weekend. Oh well, we will have to be extra careful and overcome 12 men as is usual up there. I was amazed they didnt give him or Clancy the OF game.

Spot on. Tactics mean nothing if the players don’t turn up, make mistakes, don’t pass well, dont move well, don’t close down and sit off their opponents. There was no obvious change of tactics at HT just one sub for an injury and more of our players doing their jobs properly, combining with their errors and drop in intensity.

Absolutely terrible performance by all apart from Shagger, but what a wonderful feeling hearing that final whistle was. 55 is on the way lads!

Like most I’m surprised we didn’t go with Helander who is IMO a better defender than Balogun but comfortable enough with Leon starting. Not at all surprised with the rest of the side which is clearly what SG thinks is his strongest from the available players. For them I’m always disappointed when Brown doesn’t play as he weakens their midfield and although Griffiths is clearly not fit, he is still a goal threat if he give him an inch, so we must defend properly. The other major concern for me is Madden, who rarely has a fair and balanced game. He can influence this game far more than any of their players.

Easy money for nothing. Never heard of them, would never use them, just give us your cash!! We seem to be announcing new "partners" every few weeks in just about every market going, which probably means someone is doing a good job at the club (as long as the money involved is right of course!)

It seems that each season we start strongly until we have played just about everyone twice, and by then a combination of us running out of steam and our opponents working out how best to play us has resulted in our second half of the season slide. Our high intensity style, with high and focused pressing and a huge amount of off the ball movement does seem to have taken its toll by about this time of year in each of the 3 seasons under SG. The big difference this year is our deeper squad and a bit more ruthlessness and hunger to get results, and a far more resolute defence. Hopefully that is going to be enough. If we can keep this momentum going with victories throughout January, the league will be done and we can cruise the final few games, with the finishing line and a healthy lead giving our players that extra adrenaline to keep going, whereas in the last 2 years a couple of bad results knocked the confidence and stamina out of us. The big worry is that a defeat on Saturday will see us resort to type and lose our way, dropping a number of points in a short space of time. The history of the past 2 years paints a very sobering picture that we have to learn from and not repeat. Anyone can see we have a better team than them, we just need to play to our maximum and that will be enough. As always, the first goal will be crucial.

Very fortunate to be ahead at half time, never mind a 2 goal lead, our performance has been pretty poor and St Mirren had by far the better of the first half hour before our 2 goal lead allowed us a bit more composure and saw them not quite as at it. We should have the game done from this position, but any slackness and Saints will be all over us again in the closing stages, so lets improve the performance, pass and move better, try to give our forwards more of the ball in good positions and get this done.
