Are women actually allowed to play football these days then? Who's going to iron the shirts then?

A whole day without a single post about Kris Boyd - are we cured? This lapse excepted of course.

Hmmm, it's not clear exactly what all these numbers actually mean but I've a feeling what they really represent is a comparison between two entities and, as always in such cases, is as much about one as the other. Perhaps Liam Brady and Lou Macari weren't all that hot either. Perhaps a bunch of money compensates for lack of ability. Perhaps Some of those other Rangers managers didn't have the same financial latitude, or perhaps they weren't all that good either. What I do know is that these numbers prove very little about Smith's abilities as a manager. Sorry, anything else?

Yadda yadda blah blah blah. Wait and see my friends.

A hell of a lot of work but what it proves I haven't a clue.

Do you have the numbers?

That's the water well and truly poisoned. One chicken ...... two chickens........... you know the story.

No, that wasn't it at all. You're putting words in his mouth that he didn't say. However, ill-judged, he said what he said.

Wanted: wealthy buyer to re-invigorate Rangers
maineflyer replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
All dreamed up in the fetid mind of sad, sad Graham Spiers. What a peripheral figure he now cuts, scraping out an existence from the bottom of the footballing barrel, desperate to show some worth in it all. A career wasted on ego. Or as they say in these parts, what a tosser. -
So, what you're saying is that on the basis of what might possibly happen in the future, we should ignore the history, sweep the mistakes under the carpet, and forget the incompetences and pretend it never happened. Perhaps you assume that if we don't discuss these things then it will be as if they never actually happened. It's called revisionism and it's the refuge of every scoundrel who ever lived. I think you'll find that the criticism is well-founded and the perpetrators have already shrugged off any blame, in the way that perpetrators always do these days.

Oh yes, much less. At the moment I just think he's not up to the job but I could end up disliking the man.

If Smith plays 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1 (or anything else that ends in -1) in the cup final, he will no longer be able to expect my current level of support. I'll be hunting him with a bear gun.

I really don't mind them calling me a hun. So what. I think the huns were a damned fine and much misunderstood bunch of blokes. Perhaps not too keen on deodorant but hey, you can't have everything. What I really find kafkaesque is not being allowed to call them feenyans. I find the censorship and the simulated offence to be the real nightmare.

The truth is he's a bottler. Seen too many like him pass through in lean years. He'll make nothing of it at Rangers, should be let go at the first opportunity.

Well yes, of course he's pish. I was just trying to string this out a bit now that the very last Kris Boyd thread has stalled.

Yes, I find that too and it's such a cheap shot. I tend to think of it as the last refuge of the halfwit but I never say this in case I'm accused of being a tague. Actually, don't you just hate the word "Tim" or "Timothy". What is this, some cute little term of endearment? Something for the fainthearted to cope with, something acceptable on an internet forum?

Possibly depends more on who's listening than who's speaking. In any case, the only reason so many words are written here is that no one CAN hear them, if you see, hear, sense what I mean.

Whittaker ...... some talent but alas none of the confidence to use it. What has happened to this fella?

No doubt about it as far as I'm concerned. Suddenly the manager who announced to the media only weeks ago that Rangers didn't have the quality of young player to bring through to the first team is now saying to the same media that apparently do have such talented youngsters after all. You can only assume there's been a Board meeting in the interim.

Emm ..... and you point is? While I'm delighted you've cleared up that posts are about words, I haven't a clue what you're trying to say. Perhaps it's just noise, eh?

Is there any evidence that adopting a thoroughly balanced standpoint, acknowledging in equal measure the pro's and cons of every individual or circumstance, produces one iota of advantage? Personally, I've never seen it, although I suppose it may make the critic feel more politically secure. Neither have I ever seen anything achieved by the passivity endorsed by some in this thread. We generally all agree that Murray is leading the club nowhere but down and that Smith is not here to lead us upwards to where we'd all like to see the club. That being the case, in my world you push against it until something gives in the direction you wish to go. You do not sit and indulge in infinite and circular cogitation about the philosophical merits of the situation, which is where much of this forum seems to spend its time. Let's be "fair" in our attitude towards Murray and let's give a "fair" hearing to Smith - give me fukking strength gentlemen.

You need to be understanding here - there has been a sudden epidemic of instant memory failure due to league table vertigo. The sun has got his hat on, the wind is at our back, God is in His heaven and Walter Smith must be respected. Well here's a thing. The manager who took us to a European final but then bottled it and refused to try to win it will never be forgiven by this bear. Then there's the manager who said after the Kaunas exit that he "saw it coming" but hadn't cared to do anything about it - I don't want this man in charge of Rangers. There's even the manager seemingly obsessed with negative tactics and has turned playing decent enough players out of position into an art form - he's definitely not the manager for me. And you know what, none of these things have changed since Motherwell equalised against sellick on Sunday. So no sudden change of heart from this bear. Walter Smith is Murray's pick and he's made himself Murray's man. He's a poor manager and will never lift the club or reverse our continuing decline. If he was the man we really needed then he wouldn't be here because Murray would never have chosen anything but a yes man. Not even a league title will change any of that. Nor will it change our road ahead. It certainly won't stop next season's squad being even weaker than the one we have today.

Are you suggesting he's not enough of a manager to do his job without being fawned over by the same fans he criticised in the press only a few weeks ago? Many of us were "roaring Rangers on" long before Walter Smith came to Rangers and have our own standards and expectations to meet.

I seem to rememebr years ago we made a decision to sign someone instead of Davie Weir - Konterman? or Vidmar? Either way we made a hell of a mistake.

Yes, and quickly for Christ's sake. Just keep thinking "this is the last ever Kris Boyd thread and now it's over"
