We need Kenny Miller and every single other player to step up on Thursday night at Ibrox and then again at Firpark on Sunday.
-
Oh well, that's them definitely staying up. Still 0-0 in Hull too.

We already have the 42 SPFL teams and the lower level regional leagues ('senior non-league') required to do it almost exactly like the Italians do, so the number of Clubs isn't an issue at all. People always bring up the 'meaningless games' subject when discussing larger leagues, but it doesn't make any sense to me because every single team in a larger league should always have several things to play for. They're playing for their Club, their Club's supporters, league position, prize money and the players are also playing for their contracts, livelihood, potential moves to bigger clubs and the possibility of national team call-ups. There's always something to play for.

There's a reason none of the top leagues in Europe use mid-season splits and daft systems where 2 leagues split into 3 for part of the season and the reason is that it doesn't make any sense. Other than the 18 team Bundesliga the top leagues in Europe all use simple, logical systems with large premier leagues of 20 teams. The teams only play each other twice which stops it becoming monotonous and the system works flawlessly. The Italian football league system would be absolutely perfect for Scotland because they have 42 teams like us, 20 teams in Serie A and 22 teams in Serie B with 3 regional leagues beneath that creating a pyramid system. That is exactly what Scotland needs to go for.

Stoke humping Liverpool 3-0 already. That could maybe cost Liverpool their European spot.

It seemed like Ally's salary only became an issue when Green and his cronies burnt through all of the IPO cash and folk started demanding to know where it had all gone.
-
If Green signed Ally's most recent contract it would only be because the terms of Ally's original contract were renegotiated at some point. As Rab says, all Rangers employee contracts were transferred over to the new company via TUPE, including Ally's. What wouldn't surprise me at all is if Ally's original contract from the oldco was weighted more in the Club's favour than his current one and he deliberately renegotiated it with Green & co because he didn't trust them.
-
How many times do people need to say this? His salary carried over from his contract which was signed before our old company's administration and before we were unjustly thrown out of our league by the SPL Clubs who voted on our future.

John Greig has been named as Honorary Life President of Rangers

I've merged the two threads guys. The one at the top is the one which was posted first (only by seconds!). -
There's no way it's true (IMO), so yes, I'd be surprised. In fact, I'd be astounded.

More like it's probably total nonsense. Yes, he's a very highly paid kit man, but saying he must be the 2nd or 3rd highest paid person on a touchline in Scottish football is just tripe.

I doubt that very much.

Spot on jhunter. McGregor triggered a 1 match suspension on the 17th, so it kicks in on the 31st at Firpark. Kenny Miller triggered a 1 match suspension on the 20th, so it doesn't kick in until the 3rd of June.

Yeah, I mean the whole Club's been getting run with high salaries and an exorbitant overall cost base for many many years. Today we had a kit man on the touchline dressed like a Club Director and it was rumoured last year that his salary is something like £120,000 which is insane for a kit man come bus driver, but on the flip side, the guy's one of the Club's longest serving employees with over 30 years of service. He probably works really long and strange hours a lot of the time too, so we have to take lot's of different things into consideration.
-
Aye, it's a lot of money, but it's probably less than what Jig's been taking home.
-
If we work out roughly what Ally actually got paid in the 30 months from Green took over until Ally stood down it's probably something like £1.6m and with him being in the 45% income tax bracket almost half of it will have been paid to HMRC meaning over that period he's probably had something like 30k per month 'take home'.

Was Ally supposed to decline the offer of penny shares when Green was handing them out to anyone with a swinging dick and a few grand in their pocket? Charles Green gave himself 5 million shares for nothing other than being a patter merchant with a big mouth which emitted bullshit & lies. Green's cronies Imran Ahmad & Richard Hughes got almost another 5 million shares between them plus Hughes made something like half a million quid in interest on the short term loan he provided. Another point worth making here regarding Ally's shares is that as far as we know Ally still has those shares because he hasn't sold them to make a fast buck, unlike Green, Ahmad & Hughes who all cashed their shares in so that they could line their pockets. Yes, Ally has made a lot of cash from his salary over the past 3 years, but let's not forget how much of it will have gone to HMRC. As others have said too, we still don't know if Ally will reinvest any of the money he's made. He did invest some at the last share/rights issue, so can we discount the possibility of him investing some money at the next share issue?
