They console themselves with besting us domestically. They don't care. You cant shame someone who feels no shame. It makes me sick to think Walter Smith was lambasted during the latter of our 9IAR for European failure when it was contextual of the circumstances at the time (3 foreigner rule, bosman) specifically the tactical evolution of the european game which bypassed Scottish and to some extent UK football as a whole. He had achieved european success before and after this spell so the problem was obviously not the manager.

At the moment this current European participation is achieved by default due to our league position, and in fact greater revenue is available if we win the league rather than come second. -

I'm not fussed on Europe and would prefer domestic success at this stage. A metric for success for tonight's game for me is just some signs of improvement. -

Think Fenerbache paid around 5 million for Livakovic from Dinamo, the Croatia #1. So if we got 5 million for Butland we would easily find a replacement. Someone posted some stat on twitter/X the other day (cant find it sorry) that his save rate is at 80% is the best in the league and is elite level. That certainly backs up what I have seen from him so far. Hope he stays.
