Confirmed: Michael Beale named Rangers manager
Sutton_blows_goats replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
I actually posted against him coming completely in the new manager thread. Since that post and by the time it was strongly rumoured he was coming I had completely flipped on the view. I had a look at some QPR stuff, watched some of the podcasts/blogs he had done and was bought in. Some of his comments on the 55 season about not winning enough that year really resonates. I think his profile and outlook as a manager fits with our club ambition of this fabled 'player trading model'. He will profile and target top young talent to come here and develop them. Hopefully he can deliver results and silverware. Ultimately as a club I dont think we are in a place to go out and get an experienced winner or someone with a pedigree in a big league in as a manager. I dont think that lot across the city are either. -

It was a good interview. He said lots of the right things. I'm looking forward to part 2. A couple of comments that stuck on me. He thinks the squad is in a good place. I'm hoping that's lip service and a few players cards are marked. He mentioned the injuries have had a big impact on things. Other than Goldson and Hagi the rest are either perma-injured or dont play. So i hope he doesn't get his hopes up that they will find a miraculous recovery. He also mentioned 'taking the handbrake off'. I hope that he can, many of this team seem to be permanently towing a caravan. I have no doubts he will move people on and bring in his own players if anyone here isn't up to standards. He will have a long list of younger players in the EPL and Championship that he will bring in. -

At some point, someone has to be accountable for this hoard of legal challenges the club have. Dont know the specifics but would hope any legal council advising/drawing up contracts/agreeing terms would be the mitigation for all this legal action. It doesn't seem like it though. -

Yes that’s enough about kheradine Sadman what about the chap dancing around behind him. -
I dont really follow this 'if injured player x was available they would have played' line of thinking. If Gavi, Pedri and Busquets were available for us they would have played too. They werent. Probably a higher chance of Gavi and Pedri playing for us than Soutter, Helander and Roofe. Waste of resources at the moment sadly.

Key points we haven't really looked at in this appointment. Beale and Banfield have a proven track record of being youth development orientated. Banfield worked under Wenger at Arsenal for years developing the likes of Fabregas & co. If we are serious about player trading we need a management who are bought in. I think they will be. Obviously they have to be bought in to winning silverware too. The more I think about this appointment the more I think it makes sense. 100% behind them and looking forward to seeing what unfolds. -
I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the MLS, Mexico or South America. I dont think a decent profile team in Europe will touch him given his recent form and conditioning.
-
That's an important point, renewing a players contract isn't just a case of giving them a pay rise or similar terms. There will be a likely large signing on fee for the player and agent which wont fall short of a fee for some players we have bought recently. Its ok to increase the players value but its only really adding value to us if they perform well or we sell them on for a decent fee.
-
Absolutely, perhaps its something we as a support need to see play out in order to set expectations. And our board are still learning about running a football club. Successful businessmen in thier own right but running a football club (especially one in our situation) I'm sure is a massive learning experience for them.

The aim should not be 'lets be big' but to scale up in terms of quality and potentially sellable assets. Putting all your eggs in the Kent and Morelos baskets then letting them walk out the door for nothing will hopefully be something we learn from. Not selling Kamara when he was in top form is something we will regret. Having players around the 30 mark as your top earners, who as a result of age have little resale value will prove to be ill judged. Its ok to have one or two like Goldson who is definitely worth it. But having a bunch (Tav, Goldson, Lundstram, Lawrence & Roofe) means that if we fail to make Europe one year we cant sell to make up the shortfall and cut the wage bill at the same time. I also dont agree with the approach of going in heavy on Bosman players unless its a profile like Bassey/Aribo. Sakala/Lundstram/Lawrence are expensive and have little resale value.

So I read the headline thinking he may have a point. But then i read the article and have no real idea what his point is. He then at the end of the article goes off on a tangent about Celtc selling Juranovic as he won’t sign a new deal and what great business that is. Not sure what that’s got to do with Beale. A great example of why the MSM is dying. I’ve read far better posts on here, never mind some of the blog posts from 4lads etc that blow Gary Keowns rubbish out of the water. -

Interesting that many favour Dyche who doesn’t seem to interest any EPL clubs over Beale who just KB’d Wolves, who seem to be a well run club tbh. Maybe coincidence or maybe they know something we don’t. The more I think about it the more it’s a fit for us. Don’t think we were ever going to get a Seaone or a Knutsen. Seaone will probably pop up at Lyon or a similar stature club in Italy/Spain in a few months. We need to target someone with an upside and I think if we looked at a managerial profile like Beales who didn’t have a connection to us there would probably be the same question marks over the appointment but also a bit of excitement over the potential. I just hope Ross Wilson can work wonders to refresh the squad for him. We need some hungry and fit bodies in while moving out the non contributors and high earners for decent fees while we still can. -

For me depends how much backing in the transfer market he gets. A cup and a few wins v them and we will be looking good for next season IMO -

We seem to take forever to do anything. Other clubs turn this around far quicker. If we could have moved quicker appointing Gio we might not have been skelped by Hibs in the LC semis. That’s still on the board for me. -

Just ordered a Rangers hoody. They can put that towards the next Glen Kamara. All aboard. -
Sound quality is terrible. If Dave King is such a smart guy maybe he shouldn't use a potato as a microphone. My pet hate is people using laptop speakers for calls. Its 2022.
