I think its debateable, but you put forward a good point. We paid less or similar for Igamane and Jefte who were both in contract and much better players. Therefore the behaviour being incentivised here is to go with cheaper foreign talent. Queue the usual suspects in the media: wHy dOnT rAnGeRs hAvE aNy sCoTtIsH pLaYeRs

I think Aberdeen's complaints about the system are fine. However, this disincentivises us (and them) to sign players from other Scottish clubs on freedom of contract deals, and the players. If we were to sell Barron for 3 million in the summer (for example) we would end up paying circa 1.2 million, for a player who was out of contract and could have went a few miles south for far less. And got a nicer sign on fee and wage. Surely there needs to be a globally standardised framework for this, which allows clubs to be adequately rewarded to bringing through young players, but allows the players and clubs to move, who are out of contract and essentially free agents. Surely these fee's contradict any freedom of movement laws that allow out of contract players to move? I'd recommend the fee's are set depending on the signing clubs TV market share. It makes no sense that Rangers need to pay more to sign a player than Bayern, Man U, Real Madrid, Juventus etc. But I suppose the system works fine for those clubs. A reminder we signed Joe Aribo and Charlton got a development fee or around 200k-300k Agree, This could potentially put us off signing young Scottish players moving forward. Its cheaper to sign players who are in contract abroad like Jefte and Igamane. Seems like a very high reward for Aberdeen. They should get 'something' for developing a player but this seems excessive. If Alex Lowry(for example) signs for Aberdeen in the summer does that mean we get a similar package? Does this type of ruling then put the likes of Aberdeen and Hibs off from signing our ex youths?

No I agree, There is more too it that a measuring stick but my point is I don't see many wee or skinny wimps who can pass, press etc playing CB at the top. -

I don't know, who are the best CB's in the world that are small and cant win a header? Cannavaro was famously 'small' for a CB but was great in the air. I don't think its an SPFL thing. I think its maybe magnified here, true. And that part is depressing. -

All the talk in the MSM post game is the Motherwell disallowed goal. Nothing about the Lennon Miller challenge that should have been a red. -

He also knew to go out and get some big strong centre backs than won their battles. Carter Vickers is massive and no one in the SPFL is pushing him off the ball. They went though a few other guys who were not as good but ultimately worked out, all big strong guys. Starfelt wasn't great but he could win headers. Gerrard knew it with Goldson and Katic, Smith knew it with Wier and Ugo. McLeish knew it with Boumsong, Andrews and Kyriakos. The clues are all there, if PC and Koppen cant figure it out then they are beyond help. 100%, we rely on our CB's being man for man and winning duels too much for a team with wet paper bags at CB. -

We look at the results in Europe as if they mean anything, they don’t. As long as we get to a group stage competition we should be focused on domestic matters, anything in Europe should be a bonus. Unfortunately we seem to look at Europe as our priority and where we are as a club is the result. -

If we had 2 centre backs that could win a header we wouldn't have lost those 2 soft goals today. I'm sure Clement had some big lumps that could head things when he was at Brugge. His lack of ability to identify this given how long he has managed here so far is damning. -

It’s stupid. You have 5 subs. Start your best team. Have the game won by 60 mins and then start subbing guys to rest them. -

Quite simply a team built for Europe and not The SPFL. Sign some big b*stards. -
