One off games we should be beating everyone bar Celtic every time. Should we be beating Nice 4-0, or drawing with Spurs who have players worth more than our entire club? Football doesn’t work like that.

Don’t think anyone is accepting anything, we have been mismanaged for years to the point we need to make a dramatic course correction. Expecting anything from this season other than just getting by was always going to be unrealistic.

Taking the emotion out of it, I’d guess that as long as we finish 2nd the distance doesn’t matter to the board. I genuinely don’t think they care about any of that. All that matters is to them is the payroll, something they should have been cognisant of long before the summer. We have taken a few scalps in Europe, look good to qualify and narrowly lost a domestic cup final. I think it’s quite some distance from a disastrous season. It could have been much, much worse.

So we sack him and bring in someone else who has to work with sky high expectations while downsizing? It’s just not realistic no matter how much anyone thinks it is. Unless we bin off PC and get an interim in like Murty. That always went well. If the board wanted him gone he’d be gone mate. They will give him as much time as they can because while we all turn our gaze to Clements struggling, no one is looking at them and their mismanagement of the club.

I don’t think it’s difficult. We downsized in the summer, as long as we are second, fighting for silverware and doing ok in Europe he will see out the season. This season was written off long before a ball was kicked by our board because they prioritised the reduction in costs on the playing staff wage bill. It’s why the manager got a new contract. Anyone wetting the bed about him still being here just hasn’t been paying attention. And I’m not making excuses for the manager here, I think his record in the transfer market hasn’t been great, his team selections baffling. His set pieces are abysmal, some of the stuff he comes out with is laughable. There are massive question marks over him for me personally. But I’m not a decision maker at the club, nor are you or wee guy mods from football forums full of Tims.

Taking their time over what? They are only supposed to check any clear and obvious errors? There is to be no meticulous CSI examination of every goal?

100%, not sure if better players is the answer or just taking more time to gel. - I actually think we have a big issue with the 3/4 on 1 type scenarios and creating a cast iron chance from them too. But overall, I'd say if you are creating xG 3.00+ most weeks you will have a good season.
