  1. Another no-mark becomes a hero amongst the Abergreen support. 3-2 :robbo:
  2. The last time we won our first 7 league matches while also picking up 4 points from our first two CL games was.......2003/04
  3. Delighted if this is true, even if I can't quite understand it from Levein's point of view.
  4. So Ian Black says sorry, what a guy. Unfortunately apologising any later than the day of the game is utterly meaningless. What has he been doing for four days? Good luck when you come to Ibrox son.
  5. If a player has had such a rich vein of form since Walter returned I can't think of him. Cuellar maybe, but what a season young Naismith is having. He'd only need to wear a different coloured shirt and he'd be on course for the POTY this season.
  6. Exactly. Players don't even play every game these days (except Sir Davie of Weir but he's Sir Davie of Weir). I wonder what players of the past make of the likes of Fernando Torres running up the tunnel 20 mins in because of the slightest of niggles that he won't even try running off. On a different note, I've long advocated pulling Rangers players out of the Scotland squad for political reasons. We get pissed on by the SPL with regards to fixture scheduling season after season, we get no help with our European campaigns even though we have single-handedly kept the national coefficient above water for years, and we lose a couple of players every season to long-term injury thanks to the lack of protection we get from referees. And they want a loan of half our team 6-8 times a season? F*ck off.

    Jelavic

Early days but he was on his way to making a real impact for us. Looked assured from his first game, with a touch of skill we haven't seen at the club for quite a while - his goal against Dunfermline in the League Cup sticks in my mind, total quality. He'll be a big miss. Time for Beattie to step up to the plate and start paying back his £1.5 fee. I've a feeling he'll be more effective up top on his own than Lafferty in the games where we play that system, I can't remember the Ulster Gazelle being trusted with that role for us much at all. Unless he's the Ostenstad of the Smith era, Beattie just needs a goal to get going I think, he can't have lost that quality overnight. Really hope Jelavic is back for the second OF at Ibrox - 4-4-2 / 3-5-2 and goals please.
  8. I live for the day that the EPL caves in and dies on its arse. What a victory for football that will be.
  9. Extremely disappointing. Remember how unplayable Cousin was at the Piggery? I reckon Jelavic would have given them similar problems, in fact I was confident of giving them a bit of doing with him in the side. From what I've heard about his injury so far - and we won't know a hell of a lot until after surgery - a positive outcome would be getting him back to face the bheasts in the second OF at Ibrox. I know it's fashionable to practice restraint at times like this, but if McCulloch leaves Black on the Ibrox turf with his leg in two during the next Hearts game, I won't be shedding any tears. I've seen footage of the incident and it was a coward's challenge, he knew he couldn't get the ball. Naismith (out for 18 months), Edu (6 months), Hartley on McCulloch and now Jelavic with buggered ligaments a few games into the season. The message is loud and clear to hammerthrowers of the SPL - you can injure Rangers players with impunity. I give it a month before Weiss is similarly clobbered, players like that get simply no protection from the referees in Scotland, and we wonder why the standard of football in this country continues to decline. The club has to realise that silence is no longer golden.
  10. Just seen a brilliant line from FF that's worth sharing on here. "You have to beat it Brian. Just imagine it's Tosh McKinlay"
  11. Think it's a good performance from Big Kirk to be honest, obviously learning the mind games from Walter. Bheasts being the thick inbreds they are will no doubt lap it up. I'm just waiting for Samaras to come out with the follow-up "We're going to win the treble" interview, then sit back and enjoy the timplosion come May. Bheasts, providing great if predicatable entertainment to Bears since 1BBB.
  12. Ha ha ha. Very good
  13. MF you do the bheasts a huge disservice here. Have you any idea the number of special relationships fostered since that, err, famous night?
  14. From FF:- Re: Rangers fans' advert in Copenhagen Post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nice piece, where did it originate from? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That is a nice gesture, well done to whoever wrote and sent this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh I say, that brought me out in goosebumps ! I have unlimited man-love for The Dane. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Says it like it is,we feel for him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That is genius. Get well soon Brian. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brilliant, well done to the people who did this. I have bought a card from our supporters club and sending it to him tonight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brilliant, well-written effort. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nice gesture. I'm going to send a card over. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Very good article, heartfelt and warm. We really are more than just a club. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Very nice gesture. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Really nice gesture. Well done to the people who done this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well done gersnet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow brilliant stuff -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Puts it into words perfectly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fantastic, typical of Bears to get this sorted. Knowing Brian he has no doubt has cut it out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fantastic, written with great dignity and heartfelt thoughts, the Rangers way. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A mate of mine who was involved, he said the folk from the paper were really happy to post it and I think they have made a good job of reflecting my feelings. Hats off to Gersnet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THat was truly wonderful. That article along with the contact address I put up, I really hope all bears send cards also. THat was truly wonderful to read. I have written an email to the contact at the TV3, and enclosed a copy of the article. Just in case the great man failed to see it. That is what it means to be part of the Rangers family. We look after our own!
  15. Sexpest. Seriously though I can only reiterate, top work from those involved. I hadn't realised it would be picked up in the way it has and I am sure this'll mean a lot to the great man himself.
  16. Scotland. The only country in the world where "cunt" is used as a term of endearment
  17. As ascender says, it's tough to single out any one player after a performance like that, they were all superb last night. Gun to my head though, I'll go for Stevie Naismith, who I thought had one of his best games in a Rangers shirt, and who like the rest of the team appeared completely unawed in the surroundings. We'll never get the credit for it, but last night was an absolutely magnificent result.
  18. Excellent work, well done all involved.
  19. I'd just like to add my support to this gesture, and congratulate MF on his fine words. I'm not one for sending messages of support to public figures but as Gazza said in the other thread, Laudrup is the exception to the rule. As a Rangers daft kid growing up through 9 in a row, Laudrup gave me some of my very best boyhood memories, which I have taken into adulthood. The thing about Laudrup was he was a hero to Bears of all ages, boys like me but also the older crowd who'd waited a generation to see a player like him again. When fans of that vintage said he was something special, you knew he was. Too many of the 9IAR era were called Legends. For me, only Gough, Goram, McCoist and the Prince of Denmark were. I feel privileged to have seen him play for the greatest club in the world, and feel for the younger generation who never got to see talent like that grace the Ibrox pitch. By all accounts Brian Laudrup spreads the word of Rangers wherever he goes, so I think this is a fantastic gesture in return, to let one of the Rangers family's finest sons know we are thinking of him.
  20. Desperately sad news. I'm sure there'll be a song or two for him at Hamilton. Once a Ranger always a Ranger, and he was just about the best of them all. Get well soon Brian.
  21. Good luck to the guy, he looks far better in a blue shirt than that other sh!te. Chance of a lifetime for him, hopefully he has the season of his life. Still, the head says best case scenario = The New Alec Cleland.
  22. I think Holland will find it tough against either Germany or Spain, Germany in particular as Spain still seem a bit short of top form this tournament while the Germans appear unstoppable. However I also think they have a real advantage now they'll have a day's extra rest, having played no extra time, and enjoying the luxury of going into the final with no injuries or suspensions. One thing I've always disliked about the big tournaments is the two yellow card rule. Every time one of these competitions come round we're inevitably robbed of seeing some of the best players at the business end of the tournament - often the final - due to pernickty refs dishing out cards for nothing. Germany will be without one of the players of the tournament in Thomas Muller tonight - anyone who saw his booking against Argentina will know what I'm on about. If refs are going to officiate like they do these days, they should raise the yellow card threshold to three.
  23. Difficult to argue with what you say. However from Kris Boyd's perspective, and given his destination, I can see him being the latest in a long line of players who've left Ibrox only to regret it. As a poster said on here previously, I'd have understood of he'd gone to Blackpool or Wigan etc., as it would have given him the chance to say he'd played in arguably the greatest league competition in world football. Going to Middlesborough on the other hand, in footballing terms at least, will provide him with less than he already had at Rangers. No European football and no trophies. If we are a backwater, I'm not sure Middlesborough is any better. I understand he has a young family and can appreciate him wanting to maximise his earnings while he can, but I'm sure I'd find a way to get by on the wages of a Rangers player. Anyway I'd echo your last sentiment, he's been a tremendous servant to the club for 4 and a half years and can look back on his time at Ibrox with pride. As with any Rangers man, I wish him nothing but success in the future. Frankie, can we assume Gersnet will be closing down given the Boyd threads are no more?
