I'll never forgive Walter for not playing Novo in that final. One rule of playing such a defensive set-up is that you must have a forward who'll get in about them at every opportunity. Instead he gave JCD his first and only 90 minutes. And don't get me started on his fannying about with the clipboard:ffs:
-
I see the lower shirt prices only lasted a couple of seasons then...
-
I had made two phone calls regarding Manchester plans within five minutes of Novo's penalty. Excitement off the scale.
-
Quite simply, shitting myself.

I heard a rumour last week that the reason for Velicka's long absence was, in fact, depression. Anyone else heard this?

Rangers 2 Velicka, Boyd Hearts 1

Another ton and he's into legend territory. Let's hope he isn't included in this summer's cull.

Drogba wasn't giving it the old 'flash the card' gesture though, something I absolutely abhor in football. The rules these days state that that in itself is a yellow card offence. However as with a number of other useful new laws brought into the game - e.g. either call the foul or book for diving - cowardly referees refuse to enforce it.

Falkirk want 50/50 split for Homecoming Cup Final
Norris Cole replied to Gers4Life's topic in Rangers Chat
Aye possibly, while every single home league game since then we've had over double that. And we're supposed to be equals? Piss off. Those who went to the semi-finals should get first dibs on final tickets. Perhaps all these fabled "grannies and grandads" might then have gone to support their team in the semi. -
Falkirk want 50/50 split for Homecoming Cup Final

The SFA don't have a clue. They felt they had to act after Abergreen fans whinged about not getting a 50-50 split in 2000. The end result was the large swathes of empty seats we saw against Dundee in 2003, when Dundee couldn't flog their allocation for nothing if they tried, while loyal Rangers fans were forced to pay over the odds to touts. -
The first half reminded me of some of the gut-wrenching European games we had to endure in Europe last season, particularly Bremen and Fiorentina away - getting absolutely battered but somehow holding firm. Chelsea did see a bit more of the ball in the second half but they'll get on the plane ecstatic at 0-0 I reckon after a magnificent defensive display. After a ropey run of form, Cech kept his team in the tie tonight with one or two priceless saves. I must say I fancy Chelsea in the 2nd leg with things as they stand, the boos at FT said it all. Hope they pull it off, especially after seeing that cheating rat Iniesta trying to get players booked - didn't like the Barca players' attitude the whole night, incessantly chasing after the ref to cry foul at some phantom injustice or another. Wasn't the worst 0-0 but hopefully see some goals tomorrow night.

And isn't it interesting that we've finally managed to hit a consistent run of form with players who couldn't get near the subs bench while we got beat by the likes of St Mirren and Inverness...

In which case they'll need to give the Rangers at least 35,000. -
Falkirk want 50/50 split for Homecoming Cup Final

Anyone want to hedge a bet at the last time Falkirk took 20,000 fans to any game? Would any of us have been alive? -
Two questions. a) Does Steve Davis (24) count as a 'young player' and if not what is the criteria? b) Might be a stupid question, but in the SPL section can we include things from the cups or does it have to be from the SPL? Thanks.
-
It wasn't so long ago that 13/14-man squads won European Cups. I've never understood why today's players get so many injuries - they had 50+ game seasons back in the day as well.
-
Excitement over mediocre SPL squad players is what we've been reduced to by Dodgy Dave's downsizing.

I can understand the logistics behind wanting to move a football stadium out of town, but it's killing the game. No meeting your mates in the boozer, no walking up to the ground, instead everyone jumps in the car, watches the game and then jumps in the car again. Pittodrie undeniably needs replaced, but there's an area at the Links not far from where Pittodrie they could have used.

Agree but that's two years to fill in...

I thought Martin showed a bit of promise to be honest.

He was on loan last season then they bought him in the summer. Eck was obviously happy to let him go. Just checked and it's 3 U-19 caps he's got.

Anyone else like this guy? Having written him off as merely the latest in a long line of quality-starved Aberdeen fans' mediocre cult heroes, I've actually seen a bit of him in a few games recently. I watched the Aberdeen v Dunfermline cup replay (actually I was in the Pars end ) and for 105 minutes he gave the Dunfermline full-back a torrid time, you could feel the Dunfermline end shite itself every time he got the ball. And I saw highlights of Aberdeen at the pig sty the other week and he made absolute mugs out of Heid It and Hoof It. A real tricky wee player, I believe he may even have been an England U-21 player at some point? I'd take him as a cheap squad player offering something a bit different. Thoughts?

Fantastic. The guy's the best in the business by a mile. "And Kevin Webster nets another for Arbroath. Sally will be pleased."
-
Anyone else think Davis and Edu would be a good partnership in the middle for the run-in? Davis' creativity from the middle of the park was there for all to see yesterday when he set up all three goals, and Edu has given us a bit of bite in the middle recently which we've missed since KT's injury. Tin hat on here, but Mendes has flattered to deceive in a number of games of late.

Not for a moment saying I wasn't impressed, but I distinctly remember when Laudrup and Boli arrived at the same time, it was Boli who was touted as the bigger coup. Also when we signed Gascoigne I remember thinking we had signed a player who was over the hill. How wrong I was.
