Court of session clears Dave King as fit and proper

I think the SFA are waiting for this decision, makes their decision more easier imo. -
I'm still getting the impression the club are leaving the attendance to luck and good weather atm. That strategy won;t bring in vast numbers when it comes to season ticket renewals.

Newcastle fans launch bid to force Ashley out of Toon
aweebluesoandso replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The only hope the Magpies have of getting rid of Ashley is, if he get's bored or some rich Arab or Oligarch buys him out. Or i join the Sons Of Bobby Robson lol -
Nowt wrong with running a tight ship, unless you're captain Blyth lol.

I've said before, we are a harsh, unforgiving crowd at times. I try not to, but sometimes it's hard, not to criticize player too much. I like the big man, wears his heart on his sleeve, he's loyal and gives his best. He's made a mistake yesterday, show me a players who hasn't fooked up, and i'll show you are player who has no passion imo. Good article btw. i admire anyone who has the energy to put so much down on in one go. Then again written English is not my first language lol.

My little 9 year old nephew had got interested in supporting the Gers, a few season ago, right at the start of our troubles. He's not seen much good football recently then, but to see him smiling and bouncing yesterday was enjoyable for me, as i had been encouraging him. I told him "you aint seen nothing yet kid" Hopefully in time i might be proven right?

Rangers: 'Legal action would target Dave King' - Sandy Easdale
aweebluesoandso replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
After Dave King's epic struggle with the SARS and South Africa's legal system. Taking on The Marx Brothers will feel like a night at the Opera -
Even with all the damage being wrought, we still had men with integrity like Sandy, doing their best for the club. A fitting tribute, thanks to all who organised this.
-
Daft Sandy was part of the Ashley regime that assembled this delisting parcel bomb, it was then handed on to the new board. Now he wants to sue the new board for the bomb blowing up in their hands. Pity it didn't blow up in Sandy's hands,
-
He'll never get on the stand, he won't be able to work out which hand is his right hand to give the oath. lol

I see this a a real opportunity for the various supporters shareholder groups, like Rangers First and the RST. To further cement their place with the running of the club. I don't know if it's at all possible, by this delisting from AIM market,. Could it be a possibility the supporters shareholding groups, not now convert their joint shareholding purchasing schemes, to some other direct investment Scheme? I don't know what the collective monthly investment is from all the shareholding groups? But say it's in the region of £250k a month, could that joint collective sum not be used to say, purchase assets on behalf of the support? Or could the shareholder groups give their monthly cash input as soft loans till the club is on firmer ground. Just thinking out loud and always looking for an angle on behalf of the club and support.
-
What the Ashley regime did previous to the King taking over has left a deluge of historical toxicity for the club. I'm in the cleaning business,, in most occasions you have to strip a job down to the bare bricks, to give a place a thorough clean out. I see the club being delisted on the AIM, as part of the detoxing process for the club . I am also a shareholder, this doesn't unduly worry me, the club might get back on AIM one day, can't say it bothers me either way. A few years down the line if or when we get back on the AIM, with the new board we will be far healthier and cleaner.
-
The problem was imo, we were too used to the good life. David Murray wasn't one for listening to the support, it was his way or the highway, As a result the supporters groups were impotent, which in turn fostered a high degree of apathy amongst the rank and file, as long as we were winning trophies very few gave a monkey's, well maybe it was just me? When it came to the doomsday scenario few if any were prepared, but now because of what we have gone through, the support has re engaged with the club. I feel like a veteran, boring anyone who can be bothered listening. boasting about storming the pavements of Edmiston drive with the SOS, retreating from the Copland after watching us getting beat with better football by some small provincial club. The journey back from the lower divisions was our Dunkirk, then our VE day (Victory in Edmiston Drive) Her indoors rolls her eyes when i regale her of our heroic fightback and the characters involved, also Mike Ashley my part in his downfall. Ok i might just have exaggerated my part in that a wee bit. With the utmost respect to the veterans of real conflict, we have been through hell. I don't think we have seen it all just yet, but we are ready now, tempered by the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. Right that's my coffee break over back out to face the world . Sorry to be a bore.

I don't think we can solely blame Jim McColl for not rescuing the club from Whyte then Greenco/Ashley raping. He was never on our board pre admin, some of the new board (or potential new board) members were. There was a collective failing of nearly everyone, and i include fans and fans groups, to get some cohesive thinking together. It was like everyone was in a state of shock and paralysis. Of course other than Whyte and then Greenco/Ashley who were informed and ahead of the game. Just saying throwing money at the then situation, would have cured all our ills. Is being naive imo, We like to say "We don't do walking away" but i think many did, and not just walked away but actually bolted, For fear of being tarred in connection with the Rangers going down. Even now today we can't agree why, how and who is to blame for it all. I say SDM was to blame, others say the bank forced his hand, other point ot Whyte. My point being there is so much myth, lies and revisionism of it all, that trying to get to the truth is neigh impossible. But somehow for all that we can criticize with some authority, one man who wasn't involved at any level in the Rangers downfall . Who attempted several rescue packages, using his own money and may want to help our club in the future. It comes across to me that some of the support seem ungrateful. We are certainly a hard crowd to please at times. It's wrong and we should not do it imo.
-
So we're all agreed he got involved in trying to rescue the club on a number of occasions, which involved him spending his own money. Well that's an vast improvement on him not wanting to spend his money and not lifting a finger. I'll rest my case.
-
Sorry my memory is pish this morning, i blame it on my ageing. The cheque was for far more than £500k, but why let facts get in the way of a bit of revision.
-
"Half hearted failure" the man was willing to write a cheque to take the club from Greenco, but was stopped, because Big Hauns was greedy and trying take take him for a mug punter.
-
It just came to my mind again, so I forgot to add. Did he not want to get involved at a very early stage. Even before our administration through the RST, although that was blown out the water by someone blowing Jim's cover and wish for anonymity?
-
That's a bit of a historical revision there, Jim tried on several occasions, once with Walter Smith and another attempts with the the requisitioners, and i would think, although i don't have the proof. He helped in the King, 3b's successful removal of the Ashley regime. Although i would agree he gave his valuable time, rather than a financial input, but imo equally praiseworthy.
-
You don't know if he's planning to invest or get involved in the club? So by your reasoning a Rangers supporter's is not entitled to give their views on the club unless they have already put money into the club. Even less of a view if they're a Nationalist, no wonder we're in trouble with attitudes like that.
-
That's fair comment Calscot, however we forgot a few basic principles. One of which was, we never prepared for seven years of financial famine.
-
Any positive comments in the media, about our club is to be welcomed,. Especially from a man of J mccoll's standing, is a good counterweight to the incessant negative bullshit from the haters.
-
Anyone who tried to help the club, no matter whether they were unsuccessful or not, get's my thanks. Some did more than Jim MColl, but many did far less. Those people, clubs and organisations, who actively tried to kill our club. will have my undying hatred, if the opportunity should arise in the future for some small measure of retribution, be sure my boot will firmly, rapidly and often be put into them. Apart from any of the aforementioned scum, We as a club cannot afford to turn away any business men of Jim McColl abilities. I couldn't care less if he doesn't put a brass farthing into the club, his business acumen, connections and standing would be worth a fortune to the club .
