A massive confusing intro and then a 3 minute draw. Why on earth didnt they make the last 16 draw also!! I thought they would keep PSV and Feyenoord apart, that over two legs could have been nasty. Man City v Real Madrid is massive.
-
Yup agreed. I just hope he keeps these positives up after the window closes.

Preston take the 10 mile journey to Ewood Park tonight which should make for a good atmosphere. Blackburn have lost 4 of their last 5 and dropped out of the play off spots, they are a side id like to see back in the Premier.

A fine run from Dessers for the second goal last night, you'd never have seen Boyd manage that 😎

Great achievement to slip into the top 8. Not sure who I want in the next round from the 4 sides we can face. Nsiala, Fernandes and Hagi are the 3 Id put in the squad, we cant possibly leave out defenders as it stands. -
Arsenal bid 60M for Watkins and they have accepted a 75M bid for Duran from Saudi. Watkins is an Arsenal fan and at 29 I think he wants to go - That could leave Villa very short if Watkins pushes the move through. But still nothing much happening with transfers. Man Utd signing a LB but cant get rid of Rashford. Spurs are desperate for players. West Ham in for Evan Ferguson from Brighton but Im not liking that, he has 1 goal since Nov 2023.

Ive been on the fence with Dessers due to the amount he misses but he is always good for a goal. His last 2 finishes (Man Utd and Dundee Utd) show he does have a talent though, its just frustrating its not there all the time. If he could start getting early goals in games rather than later in the matches I think the criticism and pressure would be off him more (Id like to see his stats / data for goal timing in matches) - but in general we do seem to leave our goals late this season.
-
Im hoping they get knocked out and think they will regardless if its Bayern or Real.

Coming to think of it, anyone complaining about food at matches obviously arent drinking enough before the game in the first place 😄

By far the best Champions League first round in a long long time. The different permutations were unbelievable and went right to final whistle. Villa were waiting for full time in Barca to confirm top 8, results went their way. Delighted for Uni Emery, what a job he has done and their draw isnt bad for the last 16. The stick he got previously at Arsenal and for his English in the media was a disgrace - easily one of the best coaches in Europe. The knock out draw could throw up multiple domestic matches. 1) Monaco or Brest v PSG or Benfica - PSG have a French Derby. However they are all out as they play Liverpool or Barcelona after that. 2) Sporting Lisbon or Club Brugge v Atalanta or Dortmund - Aston Villa will get one of these which is a good draw. 3) Man City or Celtic v Real Madrid or Bayern Munich - fantastic draw, Celtic are out regardless and Man City could go also. Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid await the winners so you could have the top 2 German clubs against each other and a Madrid derby. 4) Feyenoord or Juventus v PSV or AC Milan - Possible all Dutch and all Italian matches with Arsenal and Inter awaiting so a Milan derby is possible. UEFA dont get much right but they hit the jackpot with this format.

As per Compo - cant remember having a bad snack. Matchday burgers can sometimes be a little dry in the past but pies were always good. I remember going to West Ham for the first time and as I was only 10 I didnt expect their type of pie, I was always used to Scotch Pies - it was different but good. Singapore Stadium was excellent and had such a variety plus Tiger Beers were allowed in the stands.

The person who took the time out to work all that out should be on next weeks Mastermind - fair play. From 9th downwards from those who will be in the knock out phase some of the more dangerous bigger teams are currently below us. However just win the game and see what happens elsewhere. -
Yeah its very wrong if his family couldnt attend games due to the abuse. I thought he did a decent job but has just had a bad run. His win rate is the best since Stuart McCall.

We should be doing everything to tie him down and allowing him a release clause. He has to remember he is coming back from a long term injury (which we nursed him back to fitness) and now he needs a run of first team football. If we sell him in the summer of 2026 or 27 for a really good price then so be it. But the last thing he wants is to end up in league one with Charlton or something like that. -
A 0-0 so Burnley havent conceded for 10 hours of football. Decent point for Leeds after Sheff Utd lost and Sunderland drew at the weekend.
-
City just need to win and they will go above Brugge so Id expect the Belgian club to play for the draw which would knock City out. Stuttgart v PSG is interesting - winner goes into the knock out round and defeat could see PSG go out altogether depending on 2 other results. I think I might watch Villa v Celtic though, if Villa win they are top 8 so they will be going for it. If the table finished as it now Celtic would have been playing Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the knock out round which is a pity as that would have been them pumped.

Are you referring to Jefte? If so I agree, very good player as a wing back or winger but not a defender. As for the above posts about Lovelace and Hagi - tying those two down should be a priority. Hagi has that touch of class and Lovelace is easily our best upcoming potential and would slot onto the right perfectly if we dont get Cerny on a permanent. -
Match Thread [FT] Dundee Utd 1 - 3 Rangers (Diomande 37; Propper 49; Dessers 86)
Gribz replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Sky Sports Dermot Gallagher on Ref Watch said never a red, very surprised it was shown and not overturned. Sue Smith and Stephen Warnock were baffled and were asking where the foul was, they said he is just keeping his balance. But all 3 said it was a push by the Dundee Utd player who was already on a yellow. I think it will get overturned for sure. -
Just had a look at Tottenham's results this season. Thats 1 point against Leicester over 2 games, they drew 2-2 at home to Wolves and lost 2-1 at home to Ipswich. So they have picked up 2 points out of 12 points available against 3 of the teams fighting to stay in the league.

Am I right in remembering Walsh was the Ref for last years Scottish Cup Final and their 12th man?? -

Thats nuts and that was going to be the line of my next thought / question - must be the only top flight team in the UK without a Penalty. -
He's got no option to pull the trigger, 4 defeats in a row and losing to Leicester at home who have had 7 defeats in a row is probably a final straw. The only thing Ange has got going for him is the fans are after Levy more as they cant put a defence out at the moment. Good away win for Brentford, predicting them and Palace is a nightmare. Didnt see that win coming for Man Utd.

Leicester come from a goal down to lead 2-1 at Spurs.
