And that opens a new can of worms straight away and again brings the social devide into play due to having 2 national anthems. If GSTQ is blast out from the Rangers end it gets booed (ironically by other British people) yet Flower of Scotland would get booed when sang from others fans. I have no problem with the anthem before a cup final or the like but there is no doubt fans from both ends sing either anthem just to wind up opposition. My view is both GSTQ and FoS are both dour and boring and probably the worst national anthems out there. Always though Scotland the brave was better for Scotland and maybe RB or Land of hope and glory for UK. PS - It must be good being French with a bouncy anthem like theirs.

Fair point for you personnally although Rangers still dont have anything to do with any illegal wars the troops are forced into. But I remember sitting in the away end at Tannadice with a group of 6 or 7 neds infront of me. They were honking of cheap drink and could barely stand and just attempted to sing GSTQ / RB etc for 90 mins whilst trying to wind up home fans. Nothing patriotic or political about it, it was just idiocracy. If 1 of them starting to sing "My wife is a cheap slut" the next one would have joined in. RB is a cracking song but its place is at the royal albert hall on the last night of the proms.

Listening to Swansea fans on various shows etc they have all said Laudrup has improved them a lot this season. Rodgers was given credit because he was there during the promotion but Martinez and Paulo Sousa set things up. Swansea are a breath of fresh air and look the real deal unlike teams who have came up in the past like Hull and Blackpool. They have managed to attract some quality where the likes of Reading dont. Stoke are another who have cemented their place in the Premier League (a bit like Bolton did) but you really couldnt find 2 different styles of teams if you tried, and Id be watching Swansea everyday of the week ahead of Stoke. Hence back to the original point - a fresh start all that time ago and look what they have now. Yes its exactly what most fans have been screaming for given we are in Div 3. McCoist, Durrant and McDowall did superb bringing the team through the storm with what 8 players? And that was there bit done. The baton should be handed over to a fresh team which includes B Laudrup and / or Ray Wilkins.

Nice to see its in the right place though. Footie chat

OP is just something Ive said for about 10 years. When I started going to Rangers games I would sing any song, I was brainwashed into thinking these songs were Rangers songs to fit into the next bloke. Then when I became aware I said to myself what exactly has a battle in 1690 got to do with Rangers Football Club, the club werent even created then!! Its just a case of the social issues being brought into football. Dont get me wrong some of the songs are great in the right occasion and catchy, yet I think if we reworded them with meanings to do the team we support we could enjoy them all the same. If not then people have issues that dont belong in football.

A stroll in the park. Swansea are at a fork in the road, they have the potential to go on and be a top 8 team by keeping their players and manager. Its amazing that a side like Swansea have a defence that you would pick over Arsenals every day of the week.

Rather him be at Dundee than near Ibrox.

I still call it the Carling cup myself. Cracking final to see these 2 clubs at it. If it was Man Utd v Chelsea it would be over hyped and be a boring game. Plus how many times have we seen the big boys at Wembley. Amazing for Bradford C to fall away from the Premier League (at a time when Swansea were plying their trade in the lowest league) yet be in League 2 and beat 3 premier league sides on the way. Swanseas rise has been brilliant, they were foot of the 4th tier not so long ago. They play great football thanks to Martinez, Sousa, Rodgers and now Laudrup. Got to say I want Swansea to win it for Laudrup. Pure Gentleman and oozes class and they deserve a trophy. If it was Cardiff Id want Bradford to win but they have won just making it to the final. 3-0 the Swans.

Nottingham Forest name Alex McLeish as new manager
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
1) The bloke ODriscoll had Forest in play off contention (he is now doing a decent job at trying to keep Bristol C up), 2) Eck comes in and they fall away with only 1 win against the bottom side. 3) Billy Davies wins 2 out of 2 and all of a sudden they have a great chance of the play offs again. All with the same set of players. -
Yes agreed and it works both ways, any monies due to Rangers pre-2012 should also be given to us but this is where 1 rule for Rangers and another for the rest kicks in.
-
The German way should be followed throughout Europe. Pay a fair fee to get in and watch a good level of fitness. Cant stand when players through the dummy out and dont try like Pete has suggested above about Messi. The greatest players should still have graft in their game.

18-12-12 is the best scenario, reducing the amount of lower league clubs has to improve the standard.

Its all part of Globalization. Anyone know if the the teams from Russia and Ukraine previously played together prior to 1991 in Soviet Union though? The set up might have included them together then.
-
I see both sides, saving 100k is good business but we're not losing 100k either, we agreed the fee and we have the best LB in Scotland. Perhaps we will sell him on for 1-2 million in a year or so and make a profit. If this was first offer to help Hearts Id be ok with it but as said they refused it last time. They will probably make the 100k plus more next season when they are playing us in the 3rd tier after the restructure.

Fans backed Rangers in hour of need ... now's time to pay back debt
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Ive no problem with going through all the leagues, why should we be leap frogged? What is a nonsense is being in the same league with all other 9 sides from this season and making restructure in the space of 2 months. -
I faniced Milan before the match, but I can still see Barca going through. AC are on a great run at the moment and have came from nowhere in Serie A to being 3rd at the moment. Think they were 12th at one point. Xavi and Iniesta have been wonderful but them along with the other Spanish internationals had another full summer of playing at the Euros so the games were always going to mount up. They are still a class above anyone in Spain though. Having their manager away doesnt help. Great sides cant last forever and with a few of them getting older they may not be the force they were in the last 6 years. Bayern are close to being the next big thing, I backed them to win the CL last season at the start and god knows how they never won it. This year they have a chance again but I have a sneaky feeling for Dortmund to win it. An all German final isnt impossible which would be good, Ive watched the Bundesliga for a few years now and been impressed.

Andy Walker was coming out with more tosh by saying the match this weekend between Celtic and Dundee is a mis-match due to the 45 point difference, where else would you get that. Well the so called greatest league in the world in England also has bottom v top match this weekend - QPR v Man Utd where the gap is 48 points yet nobody says its a mis-match.....just shows the different in the Celtic minded way.

He is Scotlands version of Piers Morgan, he has nothing to say and says it too loudly. The article (even though I stopped after 4 lines) is nothing more than "I will be around when something bad happens". He even had to start of the article with bitterness i.e judging a book by its cover, what journo would do that.

Will look forward to reading this a bit later.

Walking in a Laudrup wonderland. Wee flutter on Swansea to win......Michael Laudrup is a masterclass ooozes brilliance. Boom Boom Boom let me hear you say Gazza Gazza....how is the main man?
-
Theres only One Brian Laudrup...... Thats my fave player of all time.

Been in Perth for a while, certainly attracted a lot of big names there but didnt exactly set the place on fire. BlueDan will know better. LIked him as a player but I couldnt get excited about the thought of him coming to Rangers. But as long as he is infront of John Brown in the que I'll be happy.

Cowdenbeath are in the 1st Division are they not? Which if is the case is slightly better standard than Divs 3 and 2 but not by much.

Such a 'glass half full' post from your good self!! I thought you'd be in the 'Ally will bring him back on not play him' camp. But yeah a loan move does actually seem sensible considering it is against opposition in a higher league and it will get himself match fit. But 2 things, we have pretty much wrapped the league up so giving him run outs for the last half hour of matches for us would have seemed a better idea and Ive always been more of the idea that loans were better for experience. Teams never seem to send important players on loan after injuries.
-
We like to see Boca back but as said he will be rightly thinking about the World Cup. Perhaps the season after we may still get another year out of him as he seems fit enough. Still applaud both these players for still being Rangers players though.
