  1. As GovanAllan and Danny have just mentioned when we attack team in the SPL we can destroy them so I hope for attacking football next season with a bit of vigilance of course! But if we have a solid pairing like Cuellar, Bartley, Bougherra and McGregor in goal then 1 holding midfielder thats allows the rest to go for the attack.
  2. Frankie, well done on raising the issue on here. Like I said to you on another thread a few weeks back Id be interested to follow this and how they are tackling it. As they state websites such as Twitter and Facebook will be monitored, does that mean it will be a global law?? There is no doubt about it, the knee jerk reaction to push this through compared to some other social problems is disgusting (but thats what governments do...could be a new thread in the Bluenose Subforum).......therefore as they have decided to go through with it the first question that has to be answered from your list is: And Id ask who is this aimed at. Im not ready to jump onto a website and start posting TBB (Ive never been on twitter in my life anyway), but as Pete says are the Dutch police going to show up at his door?
  3. Id take Cuellar over him all day long. We kick started his career and he has won trophies but then made it clear he wants to move on. He didnt have a great season past but to be fair to him he played at the World cup prior summer and did well there. Id like him to stay but only on a new contract so he cant leave for free next summer. TBH Bougherra and Cuellar together at the back would be fantastic.
  4. In adddition to a higher weekly wage, he is also going to be paying considerably less tax off that wage in Spain. I was quite looking forward to getting him but nothing over the top and there will be better out there. We still have a better striker in Jelavic anyway.
  5. Can we get a good ticket office back also? Whilst Id welcome any plans for revenue, David Murray had plans for the stadium expansion for years but it only got as far as Bar 72 in the Govan. The stadium needs a bit of work done on it (although did someone on here mention that is underway??). Would still like to see the corners filled in with seats.
  6. Villa havent been right since Martin O Neill left. The appointment of Houllier was a strange one and to go for your biggest rivals manager who he has relegated twice is a strange one regardless if its McLeish or not. The Villa fans have been picky though, rightly so. Steve McClaren had an interview lined up yet they voiced their opinion and the meeting was cancelled. That might come back to haunt them. But when you think Moyes name was floating around I can see why their fans would want a bigger name. It will be an interesting one though. It could be the first time Eck has a serious transfer budget to compete with. Plus he inherits a couple of quality players currently at Villa.
  7. Well said Pete, whilst I agree with you to a small degree I appreciate your honesty. Best Gers manager of my time? absolutely! But first few titles were on the back of challenges from Aberdeen and Motherwell. Celtic got realistically near in 1995 and WS dug deep and won 9IAR....best moments of my Gers years without doubt! As you say he probably cost us 10IAR with a bit of stubborness, yet it didnt help Advocaat was announing signings around march that year which led to Gazza leaving, Goram even said a half fit Gazza would have taken us across the finishing line. UEFA cup final....I agree with you there, defensive shambles that night! Should have went for it. But Walter put that ghost of 1998 to bed with 3IAR (should be 4) puts him up there with the best for me. Old terry Butcher gave us a wee helping hand. I just wonder 'what if" WS played the attacking way for the last 3 seasons!!! This season might turn out to be a case of "i wish we still had Walter"
  8. From you I was expecting something like "boring but successful"
  9. Good points there. I also think if we get 1 or 2 more out and out strikers in the squad it stops players like moving out of position to cover others. As you say if Jelavic is out then we are looking around the squad to come in and replace him. Lafferty's good form could be down to playing upfront with jelavic. Beattie isnt worth thinking about. I quite like Healy but he is more of a poacher and we need a few more strikers who can play more deep and make things tick. Fleck is obviously still in the squad and much was expected of him to be this type of player but I wonder if he will feature much again.
  10. Never thought Adam would go so well for Rangers, he was more of an asset to us at Blackpool then he was when playing for us. But seriously that added cash is a major boost and should be put into getting quality like Cuellar in.
  11. Hemed seems like a promising signing. Bartley and Cuellar would be a dream come true. How solid would they be as a pairing together with McGregor behind them!! Dont know much about Danns but going into the season with Ness, Hutton, Davis, McCulloch, Danns and Edu is a much healthier position than last season.
  12. As good a player Gudjohnsen used to be Id be disappointed if we got him, so well done Ally for turning that down. Watching him last season he looked a shadow of the former player and signing him would be a bit like Beattie - a signing on previous reputation. Going for the likes of Hemed is much more promising.
  13. I agree with this. Additionally the board have started to back him and signed 1 or 2 players since the relegation. If a new man comes in and doesnt want these players its cost the club needless money.
  14. Didnt hear about that one at all Ian. Disappointing news if this is the case, I thought he would be a cert to be back at the start of the season.
  15. So long as we keep our current players and add Hemed, Goodwillie, Dann, Weiss and Bartley then we would be in decent shape for the season. Obviously the defence is where the uncertainty is, with Bougherra possibly leaving and Weir not confirmed his future. If we were to get Cuellar then thats massive. Starting to get interesting.
  16. Its a position where Celtic have never had a strong player while we have been blessed. Id be bit worried if Given joined them, he is quality, although Id not swap McGregor for him.
  17. Forest and Birmingham added to the list.
  18. Anyone seen Hemed play before? or more importantly signed him on FM??
  19. I was supposed to include this goal in the opening post....tad tipsy yesterday
  20. Quite surprising. I see a similar pattern to when Middlesboro sacked Southgate...they were a near top of the table side and then went backwards. Wouldnt be surprised to see Cardiff take Davies now.
  21. Kerr has the cheek to dive
  22. 1 min 22
  23. Easily in the top 10 of all time. Quite a funny clip seeming him trod on.
  24. Arsenal signed a young 19 yr old defender from Chalrton yesterday...hopefully this ups the chances of Bartley returning to Ibrox.
