SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Yeah see what you are saying mate. Absolutely agreed before. But its about how many are professional full time. But we should be looking to enhance clubs now, give them an ambition and not put walls up like the stadia criteria (to an extent). Also about running things. If you have 19 properties its difficult to manage (you probably have about 15 haha), but if you have 3 big ones then perhaps its managed better - do you see my line of thinking there? (sorry typing on phone right now as out shopping). -
Well that was 20 quid down the drain. Wolfsburg whacked Leverkusen and Bayern got the job done. More lockdowns please if my betting is like this!!!

If they can award the title then they have to stick by the relegation. Hearts have to go down despite it being wrong. Its Partick I feel for. They are a point behind with a game in hand - that is criminal. I just dont see how they wont drop from 4 divisions to 3. I think a 12-16-16 would work well. Promote Brora and Kelty. -
Good OP with good content. If we had a match tomorrow Id like to see our team and where need fixes. For me any signing has to be a starter rather than squad players. At the back Helandar will be key. I wonder if we need a new partner for him and if the Skrtel rumour arises again for a season. I like Katic but seems he could move on. Id like to see Aribo play further forward. Davis is still class but does he have 38 games in him? Its either him or Kamara. Arfield seems to be a SG favourite. Even when he was struggling he wouldnt get dropped. He doesnt offer enough creation for me. If we had a game tomorrow this is what Id have. Yet as a previous post says, how many of these will actually still be with us. McGregor Tavernier Katic Helandar Barasic Kamara Jack Aribo Hagi Kent Morelos

Cmon the Dortmund. Biggest competitive match ever to be played behind closed doors? They should let a couple of thousand in for this one.
-
Think I'll take Dortmund 2-1 Bayern. Haland to score anytime. with that score is 20/1 1-0 Haland is 50/1. What bet that is.

The Winter 2019/20 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread
Gribz replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Hladky did look quite good in a few games I saw him. Although a left field signing could be Joe Hart on loan. He is Experienced, a winner and available. RE Ferguson and Dykes, do we want to continue cherry picking SPL players when we dont know if they can step it up and would they go into the starting XI? Docherty, Stewart, Jones etc....Yet Jack and Kamara seemed to not let it affect them. With Ferguson he will have his old man and Uncle to guide him. Fingers crossed on Hagi though, he has talent and that creative spark we need. -
Routine wins for the top two. Leverkusen are a good side, they might have been the worst draw for us in the Europa. The cardboard cut outs of fans was a bit freaky. Dortmund v Bayern on Tuesday evening. regardless of the empty stadium that should still have a spark.
-
Couple of good games on paper today. Borussia Monchengladbach v Bayer Leverkusen is 3rd v 5th with 2 points between them. Wolfsburg v Dortmund is 6th v 2nd. CL spot is probably beyond Wolfsburg but they are still playing for a Europa Spot while Dortmund have to keep up the chase.

Halliday, Flanagan and Foderingham to leave upon expiry of their contracts
Gribz replied to blueflag's topic in Rangers Chat
The only slight worry is who will be our No.1 in a year or two as McGregor is 38. Obviously still easily first pick now and perhaps has 2 more years with keepers going on longer but I wonder who we will have after. Wes did well on occasions and was a decent servant but McGregor is world class IMO. Hopefully the conveyor belt of class keepers continues though. -
Probably Pittodrie as we won there on plenty occasions and we always packed out the South Stand with 4000 before they cut the allocation - although you wondered if there was more.

Phenomenal player. To many peaches and screamers to chose from. But the Solo in the Cup match at Parkhead would be my favourite.

If you are running a 400m race and it stops at the last bend has the leader won. Usain Bolt was always a slow starter. It cant ever be described as a title win. End of.

Castore Announced As Rangers Official Kit and Retail Partner
Gribz replied to blueflag's topic in Rangers Chat
Again agree. Could be a kit version of Setanta. Are they not both Scoucers? Any of them go to school with Gerrard? What was the link between them and Rangers? Its a gamble at a stage where we shouldnt be taking gambles. We should have went for the tried and trusted (Adidas). -
After post the other day I looked at Hamburgs and Schalkes stadiums. When there was the discussion about Ibrox being revamped then these two are the ones we should "copy". Especially Schalke. 62000 but deep close stands. Obviously we are a million miles away from that now and we cant do anything to a listed building in the main stand but the other 3 could be similar. One thing I like about Schalke stadium is the front row is a good 10 feet about pitch level. Ive never thought being pitch level gives you a good view (hence Walter Smith probably didnt either the amout of time he sat in the stand). I sat in the East enclosure front row once (McLeish last game) and could barely see what was going on. An Elevated position is far better. - Sorry just went off topice a touch.

Considering lockdown perhaps we might even accept Navaratilova doing a wee cat walk ? -

Got to agree with you on this, something doesnt sit right. to drive this club forward and help bring trophies back to Ibrox How exactly will they do that? Was hoping we would revert to Adidas. For me football kits were best in the 90s and Adidas started it all off. Now kits quality and shapes have dropped massively in standard yet prices have went up and they are every year rather than 2-3 seasons. Yet they are probably produced for half the cost from a load of poor people in 3rd world countries. However I will reserve final judgement until I see the new strip and quality. -
Yeah it was very flat and sounded like a 5 a side game when you hear the shots etc. But still way better then no games at all. They could go down the vintage and legendary Mega Drive Sensible Soccer route and have fan noise in the background. Dortmund are a good side and I hope Union Berlin get something today from bayern so the title race makes it interesting.

I dont think the conversation would be so closely discussed had we not had a bad winter break. Its been a collapse on the pitch this season which has seen sloppy seconds again. Not showing up against Hearts (A 2-1), St Johnstone (A 2-2), Kilmarnock (A 2-1), Aberdeen (H 0-0) and Hamilton (H 0-1) is where its gone wrong. That would have been 13 more points on the board, then add our game in hand we could have been 3 ahead. Granted we may not have won every game but even say 8 points in those games and our 3 in hand would be a gap of 2 with two more OF games to play. So IMO its been a footballing reason for letting it go this season rather than behind the scenes. I have been impressed with our boards stances and responses in the last 12 months and long may that continue while there is yes men running the league. But football goes in cycles. It took the Souness era to win a title for the first time in 9 years back in 1987. Then when we were scooping all in the 90s Celtic almost had their doors closed. The 2000s were pretty even now Celtic have had their decade for obvious reasons. So Id say we are on the right path, it was always going to take 3-5 years due to climbing the ladder again. With a few tweaks there is no reason we wont win the next league when the season starts. As horrid as them getting 10 would be I think the bigger aim is to remain on top for most titles won.

I had a look at the league table for half of my scores.

Oh well, may as well have a punt on the scores and might even get a bet on this afternoon. Saturday 16 May Augsburg 1-1 Wolfsburg Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Schalke Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Borussia Monchengladbach Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-0 Paderborn Hoffenheim 2-1 Hertha Berlin RB Leipzig 2-0 Freiburg Sunday 17 May Cologne 1-0 Mainz Union Berlin 0-3 Bayern Munich Monday 18 May Werder Bremen 1-2 Bayer Leverkusen

Finding out the percentage is another thing. Like I asked - how is the voting process done and will it be made public who voted what way? They could easily sweep it under the carpet if its not transparent. The SPFL shot themselves in the foot with Aberdeen - seems they have morals at Pittodrie. If I was told my vote (previously) was irrelevant Id be skeptical of the SPFL straight away. Inverness is a breath of fresh air and likes of Falkirk, Raith, Cove etc should all be voting for it. For reconstruction to not even make Hampden for consideration will piss off a good few clubs also.
