  1. So we did indeed get a player in! And what a lovely one indeed.
  2. Coming to think of it, given Everton's dire need for a striker, shouldn't we loan Jelavic to them anyways? I mean, they have no money and really really ... really need him!
  3. Well, Broadfoot was one of those who got us to Manchester in 2008, so I refrain to talk bad of him. He is not needed anymore, nor of a quality that cannot be replaced easily. For his and our sake, it would be better to move on. It is kind of strange that those people I would have no problem to see leaving, Whittaker and Broadfoot, got an injury at the most inopportune moment. BTW, does anyone know whether we still have Bruins on trial?
  4. I'M pretty sure that I read that West Ham offered 6m up front and 1m in add-ons ... but do not have the time to dig this out. Of course, much of what is written above about cash and add-ons appears to be press speculation too.
  5. Why would we accept 3.2m up front, after rejecting nigh twice as much from promotion-hopefuls West Ham?
  6. The crux remains that we have to keep a business-level-wise handy reserve for any managable HMRC bill. If it is 5 to 15m, Whyte may be able to handle it "himself". But to be able to do this, we need to keep the purse shut. If a possible bill is larger, well, no-one knows. Whyte will say: "Ally, I see your point, but my hands are tied right now (sic!). Use McCulloch, Ness, Hutton, McKay ... or send them on loan, so you save their wages, or hope we sell them. Only then can we - right now (sic!) - afford Claros et al. For midfield that is." For I do assume that McCoist will get some money to buy another striker, with or without Jela moving. If the Croat goes, I do expect a chunk of the moeny being spent on more than one player.
  7. On a sidenote, the Hooped Horrors would have 34 senior players if they sign him, with 8 others loaned out. Assume 5k on average per week per nose, that would give them a neat 170k-a-week wage bill. Even if that is a touch lesser, they are loosing money rapidly ... and can just hope that Mr. Platini is satisfied with Mr. Desmond's participation*. For they will not make 8m to 9m per season with season tickets alone, I'd assume. *Matter of fact, I hope he isn't ;-)
  8. Yes indeed! Shame on you and another night beneath the stairs! :admin: ...

... and with more responsibility on his shoulders (i.e. no Jelavic to rely on), Davis too seems to get his act together. Not it is important that these two and Aluko keep their current form, and Celik provides another spark. Whether that is enough to march to No. 55 remains to be seen, but the omens are a lot less "doomy" than three weeks ago. (On a sidenote, we created near as many shots on goal these last two games, only that we missed out on a few sitters against the Dons. Any other day, we easily might have scored 3 or 4 too. It also tells us that chances and goals are coming from more sources than Jelavic, so playing solely to his abilities is not the way required to win games ... especially as he seems to be needing too many chances to score himeslf, being a human too.)
  10. So in essence, we have not even spoken to Trabzonspor or his agent about Brozek ... and I guess we are "interested" in many more people than him. As for Claros, a touch disappointing, but I would not read too much into the negative rumblings from the press and his current manager. I would assume that there will be a hectic few days ahead of Mr. McCoist, with the press being frenetic as usual, the hysteria will reach a peak on the boards too. (Have a sneaky feeling that we may end up with the striker from Falkirk, whom we did not want to sign ahead of the Bairns' semi-final with the Hooped Horrors ... )
  11. The only real embarrassment we suffered was when they signed Hartson after we turned him down and he proved to be a very decent signing for them. And so far, I only have seen rumours about us signing Brozek, or them snatching him up. You do wonder what the Hoope Horrors' strategy is here, for they will soon have a first team of 2-and-a-half squads, all willing to play, all eating up cash. Is such stuff done only to thwart us from getting any re-inforcements? If so, we should try to get linked to some more decent 4m-people!
  12. I was under the impression that Healy is well set up for life after being in the EPL et al for so long. He was willing to crawl over glass to come here and will not have wanted a large wage. (And methinks there was actually an article or two telling us his approx. wages.) As for the OP's article ... I take anything on a board with a pinch (up to bowl) of salt. No disrespect to BH here, but "insight knowledge from the director's box", how likely is that? An how likely is it that the informer is talking "the truth"? Hence, I have my reservations for any kind of rumour and, for the time being, take Ally's word that the deal is not dead yet (unless Jaager signs for someone else). On a sidenote, 2k/week makes 8k a month makes 100k a year. Did he get that in Norway. Then again, I'd assume that this would have been a deal for 6 months or the like.
  13. Now here's an optimistic thread on the eve of a matchday ...
  14. Regarding Jaager, I don't think that we don't have the money, but we've more immediate problems to address than right back. If we deal in Brozek and Bruins for that money (not just Jaager's, but any that is there), I'd be more than happy. If we add more, even better. Jaager is under no stress here, since he is a freebie. Obviously, he would naturally want to get a deal done, since someone has to pay his bills too. The sooner a decision is reached about Jelavic the better. Regarding Kalu Uche, another dark horse, but probably easier to get with regard to work permit stuff.
  15. Press conference: Jelavic is ill McCoist says that Pawel Brozek and Hamid Sahili are both players that he is looking at but there is nothing concrete to report. McCoist says that it was a club decision to not pursue a further interest in Uchebo after speaking to Durrant & McDowall. McCoist says that the club was not in a position to make Jaager an offer. McCoist says that he is not closing the door on Jagger and he will look at it again if he is in a position to.
  16. AMcC - Jelavic is not available for tomorrow suffering from a sickness that has also affected several other younger players. AMcC - There has been no futher bids for Jelavic and he is hopeful that the Croatian will still be a #RFC player as the window closes. AMcC - He comments that he is sensible enough to know that in football circumstances can change.
  17. We'll probably hear about this during the press conference. I don't think he wants to be a rebel now, since his dream move to a big London club or Liverpool is not on the agenda just yet.
  18. Salihi for 500k, Brozek on loan and Bruins on afree, that would set us up nicely. Up front, that is. EDIT: If Ally is as outspoken as he was last Friday, today's press conference will give us a nice update on all the recent comings and goings and supposed targets. Starts at 12.00 and you can essentially follow it on twitter "live".
  19. While it seems the topic has change within the thread, I have to point out that the article carefully avoids to mention the allegiances of the attackers. Nothing unexpected, but duly notable. On a sidenote, I can't exactly follow the reasoning of some on here with regards to Gazza_8's first comment. (And yes, I generally do not keep track of everyone's posts on here and do a list of their general attitude on various matters.) I see nothing there to suspect that he does not hate the scum who did it like anyone else ...
  20. Weren't there earlier reports that we had agreed a deal with Motagua, paying 500k for Claros and Bengtson? Salihi and Brozek looks good business, you'd hope we get Guerra if we indeed sell Jelavic these coming days.
  21. Still not sure about the "failures" ranking here. We have hardly seen Ortiz, Bedoya and McKay for a longer spell in their correct positions and I for one still believe that they are good enough for the SPL. Right now, their chances of playing ahead of those in the team are just pretty slim. The problem for the reserves is that they don't get any playing practice and thus pick up money for nothing, which can't be a good thing either. No matter whether that is at Rangers or somewhere else. On a sidenote, people may argue about Uchebo's scoring record, but keep in mind that one Kyle Lafferty had scored only 10 goals in 83 games for Burnley ere we signed him up. Age and build and ability look to be somewhat the same. And we'll apparently get Uchebo for much less ...
  22. There will be people who have seen it, have heard it, and when checking these lads' flats they will see what team they support. Maybe someone one here or FF actually knows them and name and shame them. Throwing stones at someone should see them in deep trouble. As for Gazza_8's comment, I simply assume he meant that we also have lunatics (aged 15 to 25) amongst our support who will tell any Hooped Horror they meet all sorts of cosy names and the like. And if they do, the press will scream in splashy headlines for weeks.
  23. Maybe some reports about us being in the direst of needs to get in some cash are not exactly up to scratch. STV report on th rejected offer.
  24. An article just been published by SkySports giving a relativ objective overview about the events at Ibrox these last 12 months and our "problems" with HMRC et al.
  25. The "funny" thing is, that Ortiz has played right back in Spain, Little has played right back before, McMillan is an old-enough right back by trade, and we loaned another right back by trade in Darren Cole only recently. There is IMHO reason no need to play Broadfoot there this season, and Whittaker, as long as he's as poor as he was ... bar the "reason" that they probably pick up far higher wages? I think that as soon as someone shows interest in McMillan and/or Ortiz, Jaager will arrive. Broadfoot's and Whittaker's only reason for staying put right now is that they are injured at this moment and time.
