Rothen Interview [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11JuVLbk900]YouTube - Jerome Rothen Signs For Rangers[/ame]
-
Shocking tackle and sad to see for the player on the receiving end but these tackles happen quite a lot but not as bad as this outcome. I don't think the guy went in to do what he did to the guy but a shocking tackle and hope he gets a lengthy ban.

Rangers set to swoop for France winger Jerome Rothen on loan RANGERS were last night on the brink of signing French internationalist Jerome Rothen. The Ibrox club and Paris Saint Germain have agreed a year-long loan and Rangers are confident of beating tonight's 5pm transfer deadline. Walter Smith moved quickly as soon as he heard the 31-year-old left winger's move to Schalke had fallen through yesterday. Rothen was supposed to sign a three-year deal from which PSG would get 2million euros. But the deal collapsed and the French club contacted Rangers' chief executive Martin Bain, who had forged contacts with PSG when they met during the close-season tournament at the Emirates. One or two details have still to be finalised with the player whose star is on the wane but heseesamove toRangersand ChampionsLeaguefootballas awaytore-ignite hiscareer. While with Monaco he was tipped for a glittering career but over the last couple of seasons his boyhood dream of playing with PSG has soured. He was a member of the French squad in Euro 2004 and although he was left out for a spell he regained his place for Euro 2008. Regarded as a dead-ball expert he could be the answer to Smith's prayers. The manager has been searching for a left-sided player and if Rothen can rediscover his finest form both Rangers and he could benefit greatly. Rothen reached the Champions League final with Monaco five years ago and although PSG's head coach Antoine Kombouare believes it is best if the player moves on he says he wouldn't be too upset if he stayed on and tried again in Paris. But that isn't going to happen and although a few English clubs and St Etienne have been monitoring his situation it looks as though he will be at Ibrox for the next year. And that, of course, should please Rangers fans who have been disappointed by the club's lack of action on the transfer front. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2009/09/01/rangers-set-to-swoop-for-france-winger-jerome-rothen-on-loan-86908-21639164/ Fingers crossed, good player IMO...........

We have poor cover for CB if one of our main 2 gets injured. We'd be well and truly stuffed if they both got injured!!!

Why does it seem like everyone is backing him and blaming the Eduardo situation? He dived and cheated it's a yellow card and TV evidence backs this up. He has to get at least a 2 game ban or it's a joke!!!

Rangers could be under new ownership within weeks, it was revealed last night, when David Murray announced his 20-year reign as Ibrox Godfather was finally over. It is no secret that Murray is willing to sell his majority shareholding and the events of late yesterday afternoon may now speed the process of change at the top for Rangers. His decision to step down and hand over control to US-based Alastair Johnston, who will become chairman, was made to the Stock Exchange around 4pm and signalled the end of two decades of always colourful and sometimes controversial leadership of one of Europe's biggest clubs. Various names have been linked with possible Ibrox takeovers. But so far no one has come forward with the kind of money that would interest either Murray or the club's bankers who are desperate to have the club's debt wiped from their ledgers. However, with Murray stepping away from the front line one or twowhohave been watching and waiting couldn ow be encouraged to break cover. There have been rumours over the last few years that wealthy West of Scotland businessmen were joining forces to buy out Murray but as yet no consortium has made a serious play. Also, some believe a non executive Ibrox direct, a Scot who lives in South Africa, could be interested in investing further - he put in £20m nine years ago - and he could now be tempted. King could certainly afford it but Murray himself has had enough after 20 years firing and dodging bullets in equal measure. There is no doubt he would like to unburden himself of his interest although he stressed last night he will always remain a supporter of the club he has led on a rollercoaster adventure. Murray said: "This is one of the greatest clubs in the world and I am immensely proud to have been involved with it. "It has been a long, long journey but one I have enjoyed although I must say it is time to get out. "It hasn't been easy but I can leave knowing I always didmy best for Rangers. Nothing is forever and it is time to go but my wish for Rangers is that they continue to build and go from strength to strength. "Alastair will bring a new dimension, a new perspective to the club. "He is a good and very experienced man with more of a global view on sport because of his work with IMG. "I fear I have neglected other commitments and personal interests for too long because running a club as big as Rangers demands a great deal. "It is intense, the phones never stop ringing and what I want now is to be able to get through a hard-working week and be able to sit back and enjoy the weekend. "Twenty years is long enough and perhaps I should have done this sooner, but the decision to step away mightnowfreshen up debate and interest about someone else buyingmy shareholding . "I haven't been dishonest with the fans. I've said I would sell and it remains true any offers will be looked at very closely. "But I must salute Rangers fans. They have been largely supportive and understanding throughout and I thank them for that. "It has been a long and at times bumpy road and the time is right to step down with Rangers champions of Scotland again and about to play in the Champions League . "Overall I'd say we've done pretty well and all of us, fans and directors as well as the players whohave been part of the last 20 years, can rightly be proud of what's been achieved. "But my decision has been made and right now my emotions are mixed. I am both sad and happy, but it is time for change." http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2009/08/27/sir-david-murray-races-to-find-new-rangers-owner-after-announcing-departure-from-ibrox-86908-21627312/

Ban Eduardo! Celtic fury at Arsenal starâs penalty dive Furious Celtic players last night urged UEFA to ban Eduardo after the Croat clearly dived for the penalty that put Arsenal on course for the Champions League group stages. Arsenalâs 3-1 victory guaranteed a £26million windfall but was marred by controversy when Eduardo, making his second start of the season for Arsenal, tumbled to the ground under a nonexistent challenge by Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc in the 28th minute. His acrobatics were good enough to fool badly positioned Spanish referee Manuel Mejuto Gonzalez, who pointed to the spot despite Celticâs angry protests. Eduardo scored from the spot to open the scoring. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1209332/Ban-Eduardo-Celtic-fury-Arsenal-star-s-penalty-dive.html#ixzz0PMxpf9Q8 ha ha ha
