  1. Not to challenge what set up? The SPL have no sponsor for next year, Sky will be able to renegotiate with no OF games, and ESPN are pulling out anyway which leaves BT Vision free to negotiate.
  2. If things stay as they are, the top team in the 2nd division is promoted to the 1st division, the bottom in the 1st division is relegated to the 2nd division, and the 2nd bottom in the 1st division and 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 2nd division will be in play-offs to stay in or be promoted to division 1. Simple? If the new proposals for two top divisions of 12 go through, 2 new teams have to be added to the 1st division/SFPL 2. I would hazard a guess that the proposal will be for no relegation from the current 1st division, leaving 2 spots open. The first of these will go to the 2nd division champions. The 2nd of these the 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams in division 2 expect to fight for through a play off with a.n.other. Is it just me or is the logical solution not for the 3rd division champions to take the place of the 2nd bottom team in the 1st division in those play offs? We've been pretty rubbish this year so there's no guarantee. It gives us some reward / a chance of promotion for winning the division. We'd be promoted on merit. And the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed teams are all expecting a play off anyway.
  3. I seen the BBC Douglas Frasers tweet on this last night, basically insinuating that Murray had got his wish and forced this. Was absolutely disgraceful.
  4. I'm in two minds about this to be honest, although may get slated for it. I think the biggest problem is the lack of condemnation of these types of instances from both sides. Had this been a 19 year old Rangers fan playing for a small club and saying 'f-e-nian' bastard and mocking the death of Celtic fans or players, then Rangers would be asked to comment and would quite rightly slate it. Similar to the GB parade, had that been Rangers fans in the same position we would have been criticised by one and all and rightly so. But again, the lack of condemnation and total silence from one side (whether you see that as Celtic or the RC church) is deafening. So the question has to be is it not to be expected that 19 year old idiots (and not just this one) think it's acceptable to use such language and mock such happenings when their peers support such behaviour through their lack of condemnation? Ordinarily i'd say rather than being punished the boy needs to be educated and shown the error of his ways. We've all been young and daft once, and all said things we shouldn't have - although without twitter these mistakes wouldn't have been so public. The problem is this 'education' would need to come from a platform of everyone acknowledging the behaviour is wrong and condemning it. While you have Celtic, the RC church and prominent RC politicians, lawyers and terrorist sympathisers supporting such behaviour education (which imo is the right course of action) can never work. So I do have some sympahty for the boy, not for the comments but for the boy, because he'll have been brought up surrounded by bigots who think it's ok to behave in such a way, and will watch as leading politicians and lawyers actively encourage such behaviour. It's no wonder then that he's turned out as he has.
  5. If I thought we were going to go with a team including 7 or 8 from Cole, Hegarty, McLeod, Hutton, McKay, Aird, Naismith, Crawford, Walsh, Hemmings and other youngsters i'd be more than happy to have Daly on board as one of three or four experienced players (Wallace plus two or three others) to support the youth players and help their development. However, yet again I fully expect 7 or 8 over-the-hill experienced pros looking for a final pay day and giving half-arsed performances to be supported by 3 or 4 exciting prospects who will get continually rotated regardless of the performance of them or the experienced players. It's soul destroying to be honest.
  6. Their way will be to refuse Morton promotion due to an unsuitable ground. Morton's only option would be a ground share at St Mirren, and the SPL could easily bin that as they have done in the past with other clubs,
  7. Assuming we're not parachuted into the SPL next year, we should have a good enough squad to win whichever league we're in, and we'll be able to add to it through free transfers and attracting players to a league which is below their capability. All this does is help us win the league while saving the club cash, thus keeping more money in our bank account. On the other hand, with SPL clubs struggling and looking for cash, we're about the only club in Scotland that could and would provide much needed income from transfer fees. So rather than hurt us as the illegal transfer ban was designed to do, all it is doing is keeping our cash in our pockets and preventing other Scottish clubs getting a sniff of it. I'd guess that the SFA/SPL are praying that Green appeals the ban or calls them out on it, but I doubt he will and I doubt they'd have the brass neck to get rid of it themselves.
  8. If we're offered a return to the top, and that 'top' is not the SPL, then I agree. However, if we're offered a return to the SPL i'd tell them where to go, and i'm sure Green would too. We can't qualify for Europe next season anyway, so as long as we're in the top the season after that's what matters.
  9. They talk about the 'cash cow' that is Rangers, and in terms of attracting/retaining TV companies and sponsors they are right. But in terms of attendances i'll never set foot in another SPL ground again (excluding Ross County and Dundee), and I imagine a lot of people feel the same.
  10. I think it's a tough one to call, we can't play in Europe for 2 more seasons due to UEFA financial rules, so why rush back next year? On the other hand the crowds have been falling slightly, not by much but another season of duff displays and limited excitement could take its toll. On balance I'd say let the SPL suffer. Hopefully reconstruction plans fail this season and some of the SPL clubs end even further up sh1t creek.
  11. The fact Keevins knew on Monday that results would be out Thursday says a lot. Also making a big deal by telling everyone it's tomorrow rather than just announce it when the decisions clearly been made.
  12. But you have to admit he'd be better in the air than what we have?
  13. If we were playing 8 or 9 kids people would be more tolerant of results like yesterday. I know some are injured, but we've had the option of Cole, Hegarty, McLeod, Hutton, Aird, McKay, Walsh, Naismith, Crawford etc. Players like Black, Cribari, Shiels and Sandaza have kept the youngsters out even when they've been off form, and that's plain wrong. So Ally has made an arse of this season results and performance wise, but for me his team selections are even worse.
  14. For me Jigs best at the back and should stay there. We'd win more in the air at least!!
  15. But if Green is point blank refusing to pay a penny then what happens? Anyway, common sense to me is not guilty. EBTs were legal, we disclosed all payments and the infringements on EBTs were disclosed in contracts so what have we done wrong? I genuinely think too many people are willing to accept a minor punishment to get it over with when we've not broken any rules.
  16. Under the proposals, who gets the 4th play off spot in the SFL 2 play offs? I'd assume there'll be no relegation from SFL1, but SFL2 still needs a play-off to decide who goes up. You'd think the logical solution would be to give that to the SFL3 champions.
  17. Hope thie images work / can be enlarged. Some great pictures as well as a match summary from both games.
  18. Given the high likelihood of trouble for any fans who do attend, and also the strong possibility that most fans in our allocated sections will be Celtic or Dundee Utd fans at the wind up, I reckon there's every likelihood of trouble at the game. If this does happen, what are the chances of the SFA hammering Rangers despite the club not accepting any tickets and telling fans not to travel?
  19. I'd drop Templeton and play with Mackay and Aird on the wings, with McCulloch sitting between defence and midfield and Sandaza or Little up on their own. Templeton has all the skills in the world, but he's a greedy bassa and needs a rocket up his backside.
  20. I know what you're getting at, but its a game at which we don't have a seat at the table, Unless we have another league to go to, we can't bluff on this. There will be a league in Scotland next season with or without us, and with or without a TV deal. I don't think we are seriously in a position to threaten to quit the league because a TV deal will be imposed on us.
  21. We sign up to the league then we agree to league rules, and that means needibg to cooperate with TV companies. We wouldnt have a choice.
  22. If there's reconstruction then we either agree to the league rules or have no league to play in. Unless we have elsewhere to go there's not much we can do about it.
  23. Simple question - what administrative errors have we made with regards the SPL? All contractual payments were fully disclosed in contracts submitted to the SPL, so what could we possibly (reasonably) be convicted of?
