Quite right. The fact it was over two legs is inexcusable. I was at Berwick and I'm sure I remember Davie Wilson breaking his leg in a goalmouth scramble. Pity our players didn't show that commitment last week.

When we had Gascoigne and Laudrup we relied too much on them. Just pass the ball to them and see what they can do. It worked ok in Scotland but not in Europe.

6 people can't do it on their own irrespective of their country of origin. If we fail it has nothing to do with where they came from.

 

Put it this way Portugal and Mexico are far far far better at football than us and are far better at producing players than us so really the question should be can we really do it without their help.

Its not a question where they come from it is whether the are good enough. We shall see.

The boy has absolutely no guarantee of being a first pick, regardless of whether it is us, Man U, Arsenal, Lyon, or whichever team he signs for, even if they have European football. I don't think he would be an automatic first pick for us - how is he going to be an automatic first pick if Garner (who cost us 1.8 million) and Herrera signs too, along with already having Waghorn, Miller & Dodoo ? No such thing as a guaranteed starter. His goals ratio needs to be considered in the league it comes from too. Scoring that many goals in Finland is no guarantee of translating into that many goals in Scotland - I am by no means staying it can't - but a managers decision may well be that he goes with tried and trusted until the lad proves he can't be left out. But automatic starter ? I doubt it.

If Morelos can score goals for us he definitely will be a first pick. If we have Herrera in the team winning balls up front then we need someone sharp beside him to take the chances created. Garner and the rest have shown no signs of that sharpness.

SPFL teams now know how to play against Caixinha's Rangers - just flood the midfield. Pedro persists in rigidly playing only 3 midfielders against 5 opposing. I know we are short of quality midfielders but Aberdeen play donkeys like O'Connor and get away with it.

If he really wanted to stay, he'd have signed a longer than 18 month contract last time.
