  1. If i recall correctly a paper said he was getting another chance by his club in Italy. Yup here we go - http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/rangers/goian-set-to-stay-in-italy-after-reprieve-110817n.19751916 However, he is back in the Spezia squad after serving his suspension. And manager Michele Serena has now declared he wants Goian in his plans. He said: "Dorin is a professional, he has always trained with great dedication and commitment and has our trust. "Do not forget that he is foreign and they often need time to settle in. "Yes, it's true that he played in Italy before with Palermo, but the situation is very different. "He still has time to settle in with us and he will be an important player for us in the second half of the season."
  2. I wouldn't take him back. As far as i am concerned we should only be signing players with a resale value. I think the problem with him was he thought he was better than he was when he left Rangers which has contributed to his form everywhere else. The simple fact is you don't score 180 goals in 360 games by being pish.
  3. Well now we need to get the dialogue going with FIFA if it's not started already. Nothing wrong with having options at our disposal.
  4. My point was that once again we would spending money we didn't have. As we know now can only go on for so long. If we operate within our means however.... different story.
  5. You pay your mortgage for the goal of eventually owning the house and being debt free. We are now debt free and own our house so why on earth you would want to borrow now is beyond me. So we overspend and end up in debt, what do we do then? Continue to take on more debt and spend more? The fact is eventually we will need to pay this back by cost cutting or we will end up in the same state again. Doing this in football is a massive, massive gamble, spending money is no guarantee of success. So what happens then if we are unsuccessful? Spend more?....

  7. To be honest i don't think you could find a situation similar to that anywhere else in the world. We just have to be better at producing youth players, and buying better value for money. No more 1m on James Beattie type signings. Whoever we buy has to have a future sell on value. We need to learn to market players better than we do...Celtic (as much as it pains me to say) are very good at getting top dollar for average players. Don't get me wrong if we have a wage bill 30-40% less than them, it will be tough, and we won't be as big of challengers as we are used to year in year out. But the fact is I would rather that, than this lunacy of going back into debt just for the sake of it.
  8. I just don't understand that line of thinking...so we almost dissapeared completely and you would want to rinse and repeat this process over again? A wage budget of 15-20 million is more than enough to mount a challenge for the title. We just have to be better with our money and youth resources than we were before. And i would rather watch us at least try and win the league and fail than never see us play again.
  9. Why on earth would you want a club to run in debt just because other clubs have it! Debt isn't free it has associated costs.
  10. Think your wrong here. Debt levels came down year on year in that 3 seasons. Also its been pretty well documented, including in the interview from Paul Murray, that once Bank of Scotland was bought over by LBG they wanted out asap hence taking over the club. Also worst ever Rangers team that included Klos, Prso, Novo, Hemdani, Ferguson, Ricksen, Ball, Lovenkrands - it was clearly a stinker of a season but nowhere even close to the worst Rangers team.
  11. I would be interested to see the side by side figures for the three in a row years under Smith. If i remember correctly we spent less than them on wages year in year out. So it is possible. Another thing to remember, Hearts finished 2nd with a wage bill far less than we had at that time and if Vlad didn't lose the plot and sack Burley they may of had a chance.
  12. I would be interested to hear from these guys just to know why they are so desperate to go despite the club and the vast majority of the fans opposing it...
  13. Your picking up on one point and missing the other. CG and others have made a big push towards growing revenue. So this is obviously a central piece of their strategy, if they can grow the revenue then the wage bill allocation will increase along with it. Of course if this doesn't work as they plan then they will surely go back to look at the wage to turnover %. At the moment our board is taking a significant % of that which is scandalous but thats another story. PLus if you look back at our squads in the past, it was always had some duds taking home a massive paychecks (James Beattie for example) while contributing zip. IF we can eradicate that, and continue to develop the youth players then i can't see why we couldn't compete with them for titles.
  14. What a breath of fresh air it is to for our owner/CEO stick up for the club in an articulate manner. I know sometimes he can be OTT but i would much rather this than going back to the dignified silence or the mutterings of that halfwit Whyte.
  15. That's a great post and I totally never thought of it that way.
  16. Considering the amount of support we have and that its a very targeted audience I would imagine reasonable revenue could be generated from advertising.
  17. Just a suggestion (probably been mentioned before but i'm quite new) but when posting articles from the actual Rangers site shouldn't we just post links so the site gets the hits?
  18. I believe their plan to counter this is to have more even money distribution between the top 2 divisions. But anyway i could be wrong but this plan has already received the full backing of the current SPL clubs.
  19. I'm not a fan of Alexander to be honest. His decision making is questionable especially crosses and rushing out and also his distribution from the back. Most games i can think of at least 3 or 4 occasions where i'm thinking "why the f*ck is Alexander not coming for that" and i'm sorry but at 10k per week i'm sure we can find umpteen goalies who are as good and probably younger than Alexander.
  20. He is on +/- 15k GBP p/w at Vancouver. (source - http://www.mlsplayers.org/) For that sort of money I would definitely not be interested but If he was willing to take a severe pay cut his work ethic and experience would be great learning curve for our young squad.
  21. Cannot see why on earth SFL would accept this sort of deal for...it basically kills them off.
  22. Out of the three i have liked the look of Naismith the best, it is a pity he doesn't seem to get more of a shot. Funny when i heard we signed Sandaza i thought he would bang in the goals in SFL3.
  23. I think its also important to consider that Ness and McCabe looked good at the SPL level, in fact both had solid performances in game(s) against Celtic. However the current crop we are seeing at a significantly lower level. It will be good to see how they perform in the cup against Dundee Utd if Super gives them a chance, McKay and MacLeod in particular.
  24. Thats the thing though was he ever match fit and even then he still stood out! I really like MacLeod he is a real talent too, he comes across as very mature on the park. In fact imo our strongest central mid pairing is MacLeod and Hutton.
