There are obvious limitations to what the Scotland squad could have achieved. However, the manager didn't make a timely or coherent attempt at beating Hungary. That isn't to say that we would have won but not at least giving it a go just isn't on. Over his time, Clarke has done fairly well but it is now time for a change. He would better suited to Aberdeen when their new Scandinavian gets the bullet. Steve Clarke and his dour expression would be at home, looking out to a grey and unwelcoming North Sea 😂
-
We didn't deserve anything other than a ticket home. Clarke was far too negative tonight. Generally, our players just aren't good enough. What exactly does McPhee do as a set piece coach? They were pathetic.

Harry Kane is now publicly replying to pundits who criticised him 😂 "The bottom line is we haven't won anything as a nation for a long, long time and a lot of these players were part of that as well and they know how tough it is. So it is not digging anyone out, it is just the reality that they do know it is tough to play in these major tournaments and tough to play for England." Poor Harry ! But when it comes to winning nothing, you can't knock his track record.

Pirlo should start because of the coolest Panenka penalty of all time when Hart was in goal for England. The Italian midfielder was sublime that match. Talking of Panenka, one of the great finals was the West Germany v Czechoslovakia in 76. What a game

Come back and ask when the venue and timescale is known. Hypothetical gut feel, loss. It would be interesting to see if we could attract an attendance over the 50k mark at Murrayfield. Added logistics for many would make it a big ask IMO. We played Hearts there once. Anyone remember the attendance? Edit Was a Hearts home game Attendance 32,000 So they made extra cash that day to help cover the 4 matches (1 win) they played there in 2017 (work on a stand).

Ignore them. What is more important is what our club are actually doing. Sustained Incompetence at a number of levels. Our consistency in f**king things up is quite something. It is a very difficult and challenging job that the board have. The remit has a supporting budget that makes it an uphill battle from the off. Measures to make our money go further have tended to backfire on us, in the football department as well as other areas. John Bennett is a competent individual but the general situation is difficult.

Doesn't give one much confidence in what the board say in the statement. Rumours circulating that September is an optimistic shout for getting back to Ibrox. Who knows !! A poor financial situation just got worse. CL qualifying: Will make a difficult task a lot harder. Clubs looking to buy our players will know we are desperate. Omnishambles indeed.

Give Harry Kane the job as player-manager. After a very rare trophy less season with Bayern Munich, his credentials are unbeatable.

Really, I hadn't realised !! As Rangers supporters we know only too well that injured footballers can be bought. We ain't sold many and the ones we have managed to shift, seemingly hopeless cases, can make unexpected recoveries, eg. Prodan, Helander. -
You'll be watching it, like the rest of us 😂 Pity Hickey and Dykes are injured. Important players for the system Clarke plays. Ralston isn't a patch on Hickey.

The land of make believe. We couldn´t give Conner Goldson away for nothing, unless he agreed to tear up his contract for diddly squat. -
Thanks for all your time and insight !

So the Saudi interest in Tav and Goldson might rake us in 6 to 7 million. Stevie will be saying Scotland are going to win the Euros at this rate!! If we want Goldson off the wage bill, it will be a pay off. -
[Official] Rangers announce departure of CEO James Bisgrove
buster. replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
What patience would that be ? Our expectations don't match current reality I would say loyalty with regard to attending football matches and spending money, rather than patience. That isn't letting the boardroom off. They have done a lot of things well but are often too short-termist in looking for the path to success, more especially in the football dept. They are also too sensitve to criticism and sometimes do things for a (very) short term clap on the back from the support but ultimately makes no difference. That is, the board often bow to the impatience of the support (rightly or wrongly/dependent on individual circumstance). Here s the thing....touching on Bisgrove/CEO. I agree with Gonzo in that Bisgrove isn't and never will be CEO material. He is a commercial director, and apparently good at it. We need a CEO who will be strong, carry out the strategic vision of the board, meet resistance head on and map out a realistic path/timescale to where we want to go. The main reason that Celtic have been, generally a stable, well run football club for the past two decades is Lawwell. We hate him, their support don't even like him or recognise what he has done for them but he has generally been the main driving force behind their strategies. Would our support have the patience for a new CEO that didn't have a magic wand and told us some home truths ? -
Realism trumps aspiration. "Investing to get into the CL every season" That is when aspiration could become dangerous. We are simply not in a position to speculate to that level.
-
I think it is difficult to compare using "our level" when at this stage, we don't really know what that level will look like. Although we are seeded, it will probably be a difficult challenge for a newish team to qualify for the CL league stage. We have to hope that opponents face similar difficulties. We have done wonderfully well in Europe since SG came in. Never known a time like it. That is reflected in our seeding and high coefficient. The contrast in domestic and European results between us and them is quite something. Going by the last few years, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to see that our level is KO stages of the EL. The CL is mostly painful except for those counting the money. Personally, I'd rather compete than be humped like a footballing whore.

What is the difference between pot 1 of the UCL draw 24/25 and Group B of the 24/25 Premier Sports Cup ? Pot1 Man.City, Liverpool, B.Munich, Real Madrid, PSG, Inter, Dortmund, Leipzig, Barcelona Group.B Dundee United, Ayr United, Falkirk, Stenhousemuir, Buckie Thistle.
-
That's us in the last 16 of CL now !! That is quite a leap 😁 We'd need to play 14 games to get to the last 16 (unless yo have us finishing in the top eight places in the new League format. When I was a lad, you only needed to play eight games to reach the final.

Can't believe Gerrard wants Tav and Goldsen, now that they are showing signs of wear and tear. Would have made more sense had it been when SG first went over there, but not now. The Saudi league has some excellent forward players, much better than the SPFL. They'd have JT and CG for breakfast. Benzema, Ronaldo, Mane, Firmino, Dembele, Toko-Ekambi, Mitrovic, Sakala, etc -
My considered opinion is .....get VAR to F**k. Negatives out weigh positives
