But the player Gio bought to replace him couldn't get in Gio's or MBs team unless Borna wasn't available. As soon as Borna returned from the WC he went straight back into the team. And weirdly, MB hasn't bought a direct replacement for Borna (thus far).

OK so Croatia have NO options other than Borna (which I can't believe) but that doesn't explain why SG, Gio and now MB continually select him.

From what I saw of Souttar last season, he looks more comfortable against a big burly CF than against a quick forward. That means for most SPFL games, he'll be fine. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised by his quality of passing.

Nope - just that Papac, as good as he was also cost us goals as did the likes Numan, Gary Steven, Stuart Munro et al. All great defenders, and all cost us goals. There is no escaping the fact the Borna is an experienced football player who is constantly picked for both club and Country. Surely all those managers that continue to select him aren't wrong in their assessment of Bornas abilities?

Meh. Was hoping for some changes, new faces and fresh ideas. Looks like we've just shuffled the pack.

Papac whilst being a great defender also cost us goals - he was suspect to the ball in behind him. I remember McGregor going mental at him on many occasions. Don't believe? Go watch some footage of his time at Rangers and you'll see he was also at fault for losing goals. I say that as a fan of Papac. Defenders and keepers are blamed for conceding goals, it's inevitable and no defender is exempt from making mistakes that cost goals. Borna has had poor games and he's had good games. Also, his crossing ability isn't just restricted to SPFL, he's done at European level. To imply otherwise I just churlish (watch Alfies 2 goals away to Feyenoord as an example).

I watched the final and have to say, I didn't think either team were that impressive. However a friend watched all of the tournament and said England were worthy winners. It's how these players now progress domestically and internationally that will determine how successful the U21 system is.

I think it's more about opinions rather than revisionism or low standards. Borna is an experienced international who is the best crosser of a ball that we currently have (new signings may turn out to be better). Yilmaz hasn't shown anything to suggest that he's a better option than Borna. However, he may do so over time. As I said earlier about Kamara, football fans see things as black or white with no middl-ground - when more often than not the "truth" lies in the middle-ground.

Maybe my mind is failing me but I thought GK totally bossed the midfield in both CL qualifiers against PSV. I also don't think he's been as bad as folk make out over last 2 seasons. But do understand that football fans see everything as black and white, with no middle ground. At £50K Kamara has been a real find and will make us a decent profit when he leaves.

I might be wrong, but I think any appetite from Rangers fans for Celtic getting an increased (above 700) allocation comes mostly from our fans who travel to away games ( as they wany an increased allocation at Parkhead). I stopped going to Parkhead years ago, but can understand those who want to go back to 7,000ish away fans. I used to love the old Rangeds end at Parkhead, but since renovation, have hated all my trips there (well, except when we won the league there lol). Hopefully we stick to the 700 allocation for the foreseeable (or revert to home fans only).

Will any further signings be dependent on player sales? We have a lot of "deadwood" still to move on (hurry up SG and buy Wright and Kamara 😀)

Funny how we're looking for £10M for a player that is a "terrible" defender and "never a captain"? Wouldn't we accept a lot less? For me, anything around £10M for any of our players is a must take offer. Kamara is another one SG might look to take off our hands.

Wasn't listed on theie injured list either. Think we've gotten him on a pre-contract for Jan but looking to get him in now - hopefully hear something soon.
