  1. That's good setup for this mob. I just hope Aribo rises to the occasion and doesn't get put off with the physicality of this game. He's a big strong lad but he doesn't like the teams that want a fight rather than a game. This game needs an early goal for us or it's going to be one hell of a poor spectacle. Get it right up them. I can't stand this mob.
  2. That's no surprise really. They play to their 'strengths', as we do. It's up to Alfie to control himself, but also up to refs to make sure they don't overstep the mark. Fortunately Alfie has changed, but unfortunately the refs are just as poor at protecting skilful players as they always have been. We all know what tonight's game is, and it's not pretty to watch.
  3. It's lovely to see those pictures of her. That's how I prefer to remember her because her health deteriorated a lot in recent years. She's the most passionate supporter, the most entertaining story teller, and lovely friend. She struggles these days but she can still recall memories from decades ago. What a woman!!!
  4. I went for Barisic. At the start of this season we thought the left wingback position was going to be a problem for us, but now we've got the left side completely sorted out with Barisic and Kent. Barisic looks every inch the player we thought we were signing and I'll be surprised if many clubs aren't interested in him in the summer. He's the perfect modern day wingback. He's athletic, stronger than he looks, fast, and his crossing is just superb. Barisic strolled this game and was a joy to watch. Davis was a close second though.
  5. He will continue to write for those that buy that rag, and going by this moronic piece it's clear who the target audience is. I read it but what sensible person reads something like this, no matter how much you want to hate us, and thinks it was a good article?!? Tick, tock ..... because this just demonstrates time and time again why these organisations will die off.
  6. I think that's a fair and accurate assessment @Bill. He saved us at a time we needed to be saved and he will always be remembered for that, or a team least he should be. He was also the man who had the strength of character and resolve to take on those who sought to completely destroy us. However he does have some problems with his image and it may deter some investors. My concern at the moment is about who will fill his shoes. I know he said he will stick around to finish the job of dealing with SD, but there will be other tough challenges ahead and I don't know enough about the current board to take confidence that they will have that strength to deal with those. As @JFK-1said, he must be the most popular chairman in football for what he has done, and I would certainly expect him to receive the warmest of welcomes when he raises the flag when we get 55.
  7. I'm really surprised that you've said there are fans who aren't won over by Dave King. What could they possibly have a problem with?
  8. Clearly not. Remember that this was the guy who went unpunished for saying that tax avoidance was as bad as child molesting. How can anyone vote for a scumbag who thinks that, never mind one who says it publicly and thinks he's right?!? And that's the current state of our political class?
  9. What a bizarre motion!?! We have hundreds of issues we are facing in this country and yet this is worthy of a motion. This just shows how deep his feelings are against Rangers and I really wish others would see right through this pathetic abuse of our political system. I realise there are bigots on all sides, but we really do seem to have more than a fair share of them taking shots at our club. I'm not for or against any particular political party, but when I see the politicians we currently have I'd be happy to vote for Trump if he promised to build a wall around Holyrood, without a door to let any of them escape. These people are too stupid and too dangerous to allow them out on to our streets, never mind making laws and setting policy.
  10. Good luck to the young lad whatever he chooses to do. It's tough for the parents too in these situations.
  11. That was a really excellent article by @Rick Roberts and articulates exactly how we all feel about this. We will never get to the bottom of it, but if this injustice keeps us focussed on success, and on ensuring that we deliver the best possible response by winning the league, it might just prove the concept of karma because those that hate us enough to do this to our club will drown in their own poison. I will never ever forget the actions (or in some cases the lack of) by the other clubs in Scotland who knew this was a stitch up, and I will have no sympathy for any club that suffers in the future. And they will suffer because I know that many fans like me will never spend a single penny by going to their grounds ever again.
  12. I'm assuming you're talking about his mother, but that shouldn't concern you?!?! Helander has never been beaten for pace despite being up against some of the fastest players in Europe (Porto and Feyenord in particular).
  13. We can't really complain about richer clubs enticing our youngsters away for more money, afterall we do it to all the clubs with less money than us. We allow other teams around Scotland (and wider) to train their youngsters and then we take the best of them. We win some and we lose some, but we are just as much part of the problem as the bigger clubs are. As for Gilmour, it'll be interesting to see if he holds on to his place in Chelsea's first team squad when they start spending money on players again.
  14. Goldson and Helander looked good but I didn't think they were under any pressure which is why I didn't vote for them. For me it was between Kamara, Aribo and Kent. This was the toughest one for a while.
  15. If we get into the knockout stages, I want the biggest glamour tie possible, even if that means less chance of progressing. I want to see us testing ourselves against the very best in Europe. Man Utd would be an awesome tie for many reasons, but there are others in there too.
  16. What I also found interesting was the fans' sense of pride when asked about key players. Not only did everyone say Morelos, but they looked genuinely proud to give his name. We do have a talisman we can be genuinely proud of. I can't remember the last time we had that. I posted something on here two or three years ago about my concern that we may lose the younger generation because we didn't have that star in the team they can all look up to, and immitate in their games with pals. This is of critical importance to younger fans these days. They're all brought up with the FIFA/PES culture where it's all about the player names, and in particular the stars. Thankfully we now have a real star in the team and although we know we will lose him at some point, he will always be associated in some way with our club. It also builds hope that the next undiscovered star is just around the corner. Furthermore, we now have role models in all parts of the team. I know in my family/friends circle that their favourites cover a wide range of our players now, including Goldson, Tav, Jack, Davis, Aribo, Kent, Ojo, Defoe and Morelos. Again, when was the last time we could have a genuine debate about who our best players are? For the past few seasons it was more about who was the least worst rather than who is our best. For our long term future and securing the fans of tomorrow, this should not be underestimated in its importance. The board, Gerrard and his management team, and the players have restored real pride in the club again and the future is very exciting. The younger ones in my family are completely hooked once again and for someone who thought these days might never come again, I was quite emotional last night. I could see and hear the excitement and genuine pride coming from them. This was further highlighted when I saw this Vlog, because that excitement is so infectious and this was excellently captured in this short video. We already knew we are on the verge of something special, but that secret is now out because that result last night will make everyone sit up and take notice of what we are achieving. Our club's story over the past few years will make a superb movie at some stage, but especially if we can write the fairytale ending for them and achieve 55 this season or next.
  17. Alfie's goal was one of the best I've seen. Goldson and Helander were solid at the back. But for me, the man who sparked us into life was Kent so he got my vote. There was only one player who didn't perform and that was McGregor. Other than him trying to keep warm by diving to save an offside shot, I don't remember him doing anything. His kit won't even need to be washed after last night, and yet this was against PORTO!?!? Still buzzing!!!
  18. The fans have been brilliant tonight. I am buzzing and it'll take a long time before I get over this win. Super win!
  19. Hopefully Arfield, Morelos and Kent can work a combination on the edge of the box because Porto are sitting with a back 7 when we attack.
  20. True, but it must be difficult for the fans of all the other teams on here to force themselves to vote for a MotM. Your problem is that you forget that Rangers is for everyone and anyone and fans of all teams flock here to read about us. It's all about the Rangers afterall. ?
