Skysports.com understands Celtic have turned down the chance to sign former Rangers striker Kris Boyd on a free transfer. Boyd is looking for a new club after cancelling his contract at Turkish club Eskisehirspor following a dispute over unpaid wages. Celtic boss Neil Lennon admitted earlier this week he would not let Boyd's Rangers background sway him from making a move for the player if he wanted to bring him to Celtic Park. However, it is understood Celtic have rejected any move for Boyd after the club were sounded out about taking the all-time SPL top scorer on a free transfer. Lennon is thought to be happy with the strikers at his disposal and is looking at other targets instead of Boyd. Rangers boss Ally McCoist has refused to rule out making a move to bring Boyd back to Rangers and it appears the path is clear for Rangers to sign the Scot.

Because, as we all know, Kevin Muscat is the best signing we ever made.

Ever since PLG I stopped buying the whole 'needs a run in the team' theory to explain why a player isn't doing it. Very few players have ever struggled at their new club for months before finding their feet and hitting form - the highest profile contrary example I can think of is Benzema. So I know it does happen. But it is used far too regularly when a player simply isn't good enough. I'm trying to think of a Rangers player who played poorly initially then found his feet and became decent. After months of being poor. And the only example I can think of was Papac who was a CB thrown straight in at LB and struggled there till he learned how to play the position.

Unless he's his agent or directly involved with transfer activity at Ibrox he's no better informed than the rest of us.

It seems Khan has literally joined to smear views he dislikes, and those who hold them. I suspect Boyd is not the only topic he'll be so derogatory to others in debate about.
-
Like I said you are living in a bubble. Unfortunately you like to burst other perfectly reasonable bubbles to preserve your own.
-
McKay, like Bedoya, simply hasn't impressed when given his chance. They along with Ortiz are the black sheep of our transfer activity under Ally, with 6 success stories to counter them. 6 out of 9 isn't a bad return. Although when it comes to McKay I was one of the few who was entirely underwhelmed when we signed him.

He provided an entire post with reasoning and full explanation, none of which was ridiculous. You clearly are an extreme Boyd fan, and while you have every right to your view, you appear to be living in a bubble, as Allan put it, ignoring everything you don't like.

Ta I have offers to have it remedied into something final I'd have expected a more robust rejection of the notion tbh. I was just testing the semantic crowd...

I didn't realise that Kenny Miller is 6th with 75 goals in the all time list. That's in a total of 6 years or so broken up by spells in England. Boyd's 158 goals are a smooth 9 years in the SPL. I remember when we had both, and it was hyped up as being nukes in our squad.

What about that dry spell where he went about 3 months without scoring? You seem quite upset. The subject isn't really worth getting all hot and bothered about. Maybe I could point you to my blog about this very topic

Latest blog; given this has been a topic of fierce debate, I thought I'd knock up a pros and cons conversation about it all. http://ibroxnoise.blogspot.com/2011/12/buoyed-or-not-by-boyd.html PS: The design is not final, it has been simplified and will be redone in due course.

tbh, I disagree with Ally and other fans who say one area of the park we're lacking is goalscorers. We had Naismith scoring plenty, and he'll be back next season, we have Jelavic who is top scorer in the SPL, we have Lafferty who has 6, and Healy (with a career of being a top goal scorer) isn't even needed at the moment. We're not exactly struggling for goalscorers. It's clear chances at the moment that we're maybe not making as much as we did. And quite how Boyd would help in that department is beyond me.
-
Well, he's not that natural given his failure since leaving Ibrox... That said, his goals here are not in question, but surely you share my suspicion at a Celtic manager showing interest in a former Rangers player? That doesn't seem a little odd to you? Surely Celtic fans would be horrified at signing Boyd, and Rangers fans wouldn't be thrilled by it either?
-
Novo left with more grace than boyd but i'd rather see neither at ibrox again.
-
Not sure why neil lennon has registered interest. Is he trying to wind up both sets of OF fans?
-
Hutton or whittaker? No brainer. Take him back in a heart beat.
-
I've adjusted yet again. The background is gone. Any further words of advice or is that acceptable now!?
-
You were the one who originally said you liked it! I'm sure of it!
-
Miller scored more in his final half season than Boyd ever did in the same period of time. I might be wrong but I don't ever recall Boyd getting 22 in half a season?
-
Maybe we should start a poll to take back either Charlie Adam or Pedro Mendes. I'm sure the latter is available.
-
Without guys like Naisy and Jela there to put chances on a plate for him, Boyd will struggle. If we lose Jela then we'll need an all round striker to partner Lafferty.
-
Ok, taking all comments on board I've had a go at making it all easier on the eye. I stubbornly refuse to remove that background because I really like it!
-
McKay, Bedoya, Ortiz - none have worked out as signings and aren't much cop as squad players either. If the other 6 signings we made all had an instant impact, why do we have to give these other guys so much longer? Why do they deserve even more time? As for Healy, not been given anything like a fair crack at the whip at Ibrox.

I'm not super creative, I've been told it's quite noisy to look at. What would you change to make it look less painful Zaps?
