Turning shame into success: Rangers v Celtic
cooponthewing replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I was going to mention this last night BD but didn't as it's not something I wanted to bring up not knowing the truth (not having a go at anyone). It's a strange one as I'm not sure as an outfielder why you would bottle it with nerves? If it is the case then send him packing as he is good to nobody up here. He will need to find employment at a club with lower ambitions and expectations. We will find out on Sunday if he plays I guess? -
Rangers fans banned after disorder at Scottish Cup Final

I am also broadly in agreement BH. I am uncomfortable with the narrative that if anyone were to challenge those fans in those circumstances then they are to blame. On your main point that those who ran on to challenge then I agree. If there were fans who did so in anticipation that they, their kids or partners would face assault or injury then I disagree. The bottom line is this was a disaster at the hands of the scot squad. Who, after the event colluded with the authorities to deflect as much blame and attention as they could from their incompetence. Rangers supporters were an easy target. The fact we are splitting hairs now over this discussion is evidence their propaganda was effective. If they had done their job and not been too busy looking for working citizens who might be singing "naughty songs" then it would never have happened. They are, and always have been, a national disgrace. If I could be bothered I'm sure I could find countless incidences of there inherent incompetence. Their arrogance is breathtaking. -

Just when you think it can't get any more blatant, up pops Liewell and his crooked cohorts at work again! -

I'm with GS on this. As everyone knows I was down the front of the main stand with my niece. As the final whistle blow we headed straight up the stairs. As we looked back we seen them all heading our way and when we were half way up she was upset and scared. At this time they were down at the front where we were gesturing to where the mascots and some of the disabled supporters had been. I have said this before, if I am down the front of stand with a child, and feel some idiot is upsetting them or putting them in danger then i would take whatever action I felt was necessary. We shouldn't forget how bad it was that day. It was hatred and nothing "jovial" or "exuberant" about it. The Scot Squad were a shambles and subsequent covering their arse is a national disgrace. -
Yeh it's a great pod! I get it through the Apple podcast app.

Apparently you can do it at anytime in the season with written consent. The only time I can find with souness was 1987 with us?
-
It rings a bell boabie? Google time!
-
He must know the canteen staff well by now! Four weeks training should lose most of that.
-
Souness did do it v Dynamo Kiev with us. We won 2-0 Falco and Mcoist scored. I was I govan stand that night. We had been beaten 1-0 in first leg.
-
Yeh we were totally muscled out of midfield and we were always a man short as lego muncher had freedom of Hampden on Sunday. We badly missed Toral too and should he not play it could be the same? Having said that PC had us way too deep. We need to go straight at them and play to our strengths. All the tactics in the world are no good if the players have no appetite for effort?

I will be at the game with my niece BH so it's a def no for me.

I actually think brown might get an extra game for his trouble. One look at his reaction after the tackle, shoulders back, posturing in an Alpha male (very very loose term) position with no regard for the player, shows it was intentional. Halliday was reckless and dangerous but laws statevthat's only a yellow. Lego muncher was "serious foul play" and they know it. Therefore he may get an add on for taking the piss with the appeal?

Oh nooooo! I picked the wrong day to stop the Valium..... -
I know Craig lol. I wasn't taking issue, only commenting.

I was sat opposite the 18 yeard line in North stand. As soon as first goal went in everyone's shoulders went down. As if they were expecting it to happen and had already given up. Looking at each other like lost sheep (excuse the pun). Imo a lot of the players were not happy with the formation of sitting in and felt our best chance was to go at them. They would have been right!
-
They were slating them for being out last night Pete. No mention of POTY dinner.
-
Aha! That wasn't quite the narrative I picked up BD. Two "Mickey's" on TS were out with "Rod the Drunk" yesterday apparently and were slating the Rangers players!
-
Players had a night out last night??? On talk sport this morning and apparently on social media??

Just my tuppence worth on this debate. I think messi is a great footballer and at the moment the best in the world. However it's important to remember that every player now plays without fear of tackle (front, side or behind). Defending is no longer an art form. Taking all that into account you have to go back to the likes of Maradona, Pele (before my time though) Zidane, Cruyff and Guillit. Difficult to pick a top of all time (so many) but players of the past has much more to deal with. Therefore when they performed it was under more pressure and arguably their feet had to be quicker. -
Not sure what's happening yet BH, I sit in family section with a 9 year old who thinks she's 14! If she is with me I won't make it as I take her back to east end. It needs to be a last min thing for me I'm afraid. If all tickets are gone by then that's just the way it goes. If I can't make it I will pop my head in and "hand gesture" to you all as I pass lol.

BBC took great pleasure in highlighting it yet McKay was "taken out" early second half and they conveniently missed that. They were gushing in their praise of "Brenda and the Rabids". Thomson and Stewart holding hands and singing while discussing how awful it was that not one Rangers player was dismissed. That's my moan done lads, I have exams this week so at least that's less stressful than what we were subjected to today.......
-
Aye BH lol, I watched the replays tonight and It would have been a tad on the soft side. It's been a long horrible day. We can always look forward to next week........

Was just raving about this on other thread Craig. What a game! -
Messi was outstanding! One of those incredible games, great to watch second half especially.
