Aye, I just think it would be good to sort of get initial feelings on Ally as the gaffer before the season starts and revisit the thread throughout the season. As I said maybe I've had too many Kazakhstan vodkas to explain what I mean:smile:,It's 02:30 here and I'm going to bed, maybe I will understand what I want tomorrow????
-
Ok mate, maybe not a poll,I would be interested in what the fans, well gersnet fans, think about how well he will do,I do believe he has 100% backing from the fans just now. I guess I'm looking for predictions, but then maybe it's not such a good idea after all!!!!

I disagree mate,I think it would be good for everybody to discuss what their feelings/thoughts are on how he will do and then revisit this thread later to judge his performance. It's only a bit of fun so I don't understand your view that it is bollocks?. Let's talk about it. And I'm sure every Rangers fan is behind him 100%.

I don't know what anyone else thinks about Super Ally being our new manager and to be honest at first I wasn't overly confident about it,however now that he has been appointed and with CW buying Rangers I have a confident feeling about this season. Would it be possible for admin/mods to maybe start a poll/sticky now and we can all have our say and predict what SA will do as the new Rangers manager?.

I seem to remember Allerdyce getting touted for the England job a few years ago. As for McClaren I know a lot of Middlesborough fans who were delighted when he left. Allerdyce hasn't done anything of note that I know of and yet he still gets work?

Arsenal could scupper Rangers’ move for defender Kyle Bartley by insisting he stays in London until the end of the transfer window. Ibrox boss Ally McCoist is keen to bring the Englishman back to the club after he impressed during a loan spell last season. His time in Scotland was cut short by injury, but with doubts over the futures of captain David Weir and defensive partner Madjid Bougherra, Bartley has been placed at the top of McCoist’s wanted list. But Gunners manager Arsene Wenger wants to run the rule over the 20-year-old before allowing him to leave the Emirates. Bartley has spent the last 18 months on loan at Sheffield United and Ibrox and the Frenchman believes the time has come for him to prove his worth to the Premiership giants. Wenger yesterday made his first capture of the close season, with Charlton youngster Carl Jenkinson moving across London. That deal could hasten Bartley’s exit from the Emirates, but if Wenger stalls on allowing him to leave, McCoist could be forced to look elsewhere as he attempts to build his squad for domestic and European assaults. The new Gers gaffer is also plotting a swoop for former star Carlos Cuellar, but any move for the Spaniard hinges on Aston Villa appointing a new manager. McCoist said: “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in a player of Carlos’ quality. The managerial situation at Villa complicates the issue, but as soon as they have made an appointment I’ll be in touch to ask about Carlos’ availability. It will be up to Villa’s new boss to decide if he’s willing to do business.” McCoist held further talks with owner Craig Whyte last night to plan Rangers’ movements in the transfer market as well as highlighting the need to tie down some of the double-winning stars on long term deals. The Gers have already opened discussions with Allan McGregor’s representatives over an extended contract and will do likewise with Steven Davis and Steven Whittaker. Bursaspor yesterday had a bid for Whittaker rejected and are set to come back in, but SportTimes understands the full-back is keen to sort stay at Ibrox. Rangers were today also linked with St Etienne free agent Yohan Benalouane. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/editor-s-picks/arsene-wenger-to-block-return-of-kyle-bartley-1.1106045

Manager confirms Argentina scouting trip
ian1964 replied to Rangers Football Club's topic in Rangers Chat
You know,I always think clubs could do no harm in fans alerting them to players, even just drawing their attention to them,I understand that managers and scouts of Rangers would think they are better judges than fans and like to think they have enough contacts regarding posssible signings, but would it be so difficult for them to even pay a little bit of attention to fans who are spread all over the globe?,I'm being serious here, why can't there be some sort of thread/link on the club web site where fans could just post information on what players they think might at least be worth looking at?,makes perfect sense to me. -
Ally mccoist: No way steven whittaker is leaving rangers
ian1964 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I have to say I like Whittaker,he has a great attitude and can play almost anywhere and he would play anywhere,he has his faults but he is a good footballer,I don't know what wages he is on and I don't know what he would be looking for but if it is a reasonable request from him then I would like to see him stay -
Carlos Cuellar today admitted he is interested in returning to former club Rangers this summer. Cuellar fears his time at Aston Villa may be nearing an end as the Barclays Premier League club look to appoint their third manager in 12 months. And the Spanish defender, who has one year left on his current contract, would be prepared to go back to Ibrox to work under new manager Ally McCoist. The 29-year-old established himself as a firm fans’ favourite during his one season in Glasgow and helped the Gers reach the Uefa Cup Final in 2008. He was sold to Villa for Ã?£7.8million shortly after that, but would now be available for a cut-price fee of around Ã?£2 million. With Davie Weir’s future still not clear and Madjid Bougherra edging nearer to the exit door, McCoist has made getting a top quality centre-half in a prioity. And Cuellar is excited about the prospect of returning to his former club. He said: “I have to find out what Villa want me to do, but I’m very surprised to hear that Rangers want me back. “A lot of people have been talking about it on the internet and on Twitter. “It’s exciting because Rangers holds so many good memories. It’s exciting if there is a possibility to go back because all of those good memories come back – the city, the club, the people, how much they loved me and how much I loved them. “Then there is the Champions League and the chance to win trophies again. Who wouldn’t be excited about something like that?” One of the reasons Cuellar left Rangers was because he was told he would have a better chance of forcing his way into his national team playing in England. But he has endured a difficult season down south due to injury and is keen to make a clean break and resurrect his playing days in Scotland. He added: “I would have no problems coming back to play in the SPL. I only left because I was told if I wanted to have a chance of playing for the national team then I had to leave Scotland and move to the Premiership or return to La Liga. “I was told the Spanish manager was interested in me, but that he could only see me playing in Uefa Cup matches. “Everyone kept telling me that if I wanted to play for Spain then I had to go. “It was a tough situation, but I did what I was told. I was told it would be the best thing for my career. I was only 26 at the time and felt it was a big opportunity. “But now things are very different. Since then, Spain have become world champions and, although I have never given up hope of playing for my country, I will make my own decisions now. Three years ago I thought I had a chance and I did what I had to do. “I was listening to people who were part of the national team. I did what they advised. “But now I can follow my own dream and I won’t let other people tell me what is best. “I know myself what will make me happy. I was so happy at Rangers and this time, if I get the chance to return, then I will follow what I want to do. “Last year was hard for me. We had a change of manager, I had some problems with injury and I wasn’t playing as much as I wanted to. “I don’t want another season like that. But it will depend on the new manager at Villa.” http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/editor-s-picks/ally-mccoist-pitch-opens-door-for-return-of-carlos-cuellar-1.1105840

THE Old Firm are set for a transfer tug of war after BOTH targeted Turkey centre-half Gokhan Zan. Galatasaray star Zan, 29, is available on a free after vowing to quit the club to fulfil his dream of playing abroad. He's currently on a staggering £50,000-a-week and while the Turks want him to stay Zan is prepared to take a 50 per cent pay CUT. That has alerted new Rangers boss Ally McCoist and his Celtic rival Neil Lennon. Sources in Turkey told SunSport the Old Firm clubs are firmly in the hunt for Zan, who has won 33 caps and, at 6ft 3in, is known for his physical style. He would suit both Old Firm clubs, who have been asked to be kept informed of his situation. McCoist is desperate to land a tried and tested stopper. As SunSport revealed he's already in the hunt to sign ex-Napoli star Emilio Cribari as well as Danny Wilson on loan from Liverpool. Carlos Cuellar could also be an option. Lennon is keen to find a partner for Daniel Majstorovic. Meanwhile, Olivier Giroud confirmed McCoist wanted to take him to Ibrox - but he signed a new deal with Montpellier instead. The striker netted 14 goals in his first season in Ligue 1 after turning down Celtic last summer. And despite interest from Gers, he signed a new three-year deal with Montpellier last week. He said: "There was never any direct contact from Rangers but they were following me. It didn't get far but maybe I can look at a big club like Rangers or Celtic in the future." http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3624709/Zan-the-man-for-Old-Firm.html

PAUL INCE'S son Thomas is being chased by Ajax and Rangers. The Liverpool kid, 19, has been offered a new four-year deal but feels his chances of first-team football are better elsewhere. Ince has yet to make a full debut since signing on youth terms in 2008. He was an unused sub in the Europa League qualifier against FK Rabotnicki but came off the bench in Liverpool's League Cup loss to Northampton for his debut. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3624068/Paul-Inces-son-Thomas-is-being-chased-by-Ajax-and-Rangers.html

ALLY McCOIST has told Bursaspor and all the other predators that Scotland star Steven Whittaker is not for sale. Express Sport revealed last week that the former Turkish champions were about to make a move for Steven Whittaker in a bid to team him up with his international team-mate Kenny Miller. Bursaspor tabled a cheeky Ã?£300,000 offer for Whittaker earlier this week but it was quickly turned down and Ally McCoist is now looking for the club to get the player secured to a contract beyond next summer when his current deal is due to expire. The Rangers manager, who has just returned from a scouting mission in Argentina, said: ââ?¬Å?Yes, I can confirm we had an offer from Bursaspor. ââ?¬Å?I took a phone call from Andrew Dickson to tell me about it. He didnââ?¬â?¢t even tell me the figures involved because I told him that I wasnââ?¬â?¢t interested in selling Steven. I can confirm we had an offer from Bursaspor ââ?¬Å?I have made it clear that Steven is one of the players I see as part of my long-term plans for the club. ââ?¬Å?That is why we have opened talks with his representatives to extend his current contract. ââ?¬Å?I will get a clearer indication of how those talks are going when I meet with Mr Whyte. ââ?¬Å?But the feedback I have had from the boys has been positive.ââ?¬Â McCoistââ?¬â?¢s main priority remains strengthening his SPL championship-winning side rather than weakening it. His main job is to sort out his central defensive options for the new season. He would love to take Carlos Cuellar back from Aston Villa but the playerââ?¬â?¢s representative told Express Sport that deal is a non-starter. The 29-year-oldââ?¬â?¢s agent, Pedro Bravo, has revealed he is on the verge of signing a new deal with the English Premier League outfit. Bravo said: ââ?¬Å?Carlos is more than happy at Aston Villa. ââ?¬Å?He still has one year left on his contract and he has no intention of leaving. In fact, the club have already opened talks about a new deal and I expect Carlos to sign an extension pretty soon. ââ?¬Å?Certainly a return to Rangers is not in his thoughts. He enjoyed his time at Rangers but now he is more than happy at Aston Villa.ââ?¬Â Getting Kyle Bartley back from Arsenal remains on the agenda for McCoist and he is set to seek talks with the Gunners this week in a bid to thrash out a deal. Liverpoolââ?¬â?¢s ex-Ranger Danny Wilson is another name being considered on a season-long loan, although his representatives claim they have heard nothing on the deal from either club. McCoist has still to run that one past his assistants, Kenny McDowall and Ian Durrant. Groningen defender Andreas Granqvist also remains a live target, especially as the futures of Madjid Bougherra and captain Davie Weir remain unsolved. Weir is out of contract and still to hold talks with the new manager, while Bougherra has admitted he would prefer to move on rather than see out the remaining year of his Ibrox deal. McCoist will hold talks with owner Whyte, who is set to give his new boss Ã?£12million to spend, to get an update on the contract talks with Whittaker, Allan McGregor and Steven Davis. CARLOS CUELLAR last night opened the door to a stunning return to Rangers by insisting he is "excited" by the prospect of signing for Ally McCoist. Record Sport revealed exclusively yesterday how McCoist plans to open dialogue this week to determine whether or not he might be able to tempt the Spaniard back across the border from Aston Villa - three years after Cuellar quit Ibrox for the Premiership side. And yesterday the 29-year-old centre half spoke exclusively to this paper to tell the truth behind his decision to leave in the first place - and to stress that he would not hesitate if Villa give him their blessing to go back. Cuellar has fallen out of the top-team picture in the Midlands after managing just 10 league starts last season. Now, with only one year remaining on his contract and with the club currently head hunting a third new manager in 12 months, the former Osasuna stopper believes his time at Villa Park might be up. McCoist has identified him as a ready-made replacement for the perennially unsettled Algerian Madjid Bougherra, who seems certain to move on this summer. Cuellar said: "Obviously I have to find out what Villa want me to do but I'm very surprised to hear that Rangers want me back. A lot of people have been talking about it on the internet and on Twitter saying, 'I want Carlos back - or Carlos has to be here'. "It's exciting because Rangers, for me, has so many good memories. "It's exciting if there is a possibility to go back because all of those good memories come back - the city, the club, the people, how much they loved me and how much I loved them. "Then there is the Champions League and the chance to win trophies again. Who wouldn't be excited about something like that?" McCoist is determined to use new owner Craig Whyte's cash injection to bolster his defensive options and Cuellar's name is top of his list. A fee of around s2million has been placed on Cuellar's head after recent speculation linking him with La Liga rivals Villarreal and Espanyol but Rangers could also attempt to strike a year-long loan deal for the player whom they sold to Villa for s7.8m in the summer of 2008. And McCoist's part in any talks could prove crucial as Cuellar makes up his mind. He said: "I had a good relationship with Ally McCoist. He is a great personality and I think it would be good fun to work under him as manager. But that doesn't mean it would be one big joke. "The thing about Ally is that he knows how to separate the jokes from the work. I saw that in my time in Glasgow. I think he will make an excellent Rangers manager." McCoist has also opened talks with Liverpool after 19-year-old Danny Wilson was made available for a season long loan deal, a year after leaving Rangers for Anfield. And in the next 24 hours the new Rangers boss is expected to speak in person with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to find out if the Frenchman would be prepared to strike a similar deal to let Kyle Bartley return for another 12 months in Glasgow. But with Bougherra on his way out and Davie Weir out of contract and undecided over his future, McCoist is desperate to recruit more experienced campaigners for the heart of his defence. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2011/06/08/rangers-target-carlos-cuellar-i-loved-my-time-at-ibrox-and-i-d-love-to-go-back-86908-23187560/

RANGERS last night binned a cheeky £450,000 bid from Bursaspor for full-back Steven Whittaker. SunSport can reveal the ambitious Turkish outfit - who already have former Ibrox striker Kenny Miller on their books - swooped for Whitty but had the offer immediately rejected. Gers want to hold on to the versatile 26-year-old Scotland star and have told Bursa that he is NOT for sale. But it's believed that Whittaker IS interested in the move, with the Ibrox club told to expect another bid. Bursa lured Miller in January with a mega-bucks offer and they're desperate to do the same with his international team-mate as boss Ertugrul Saglam looks to rebuild his squad. Whittaker earns around £8,000 a week at Ibrox. But Bursa are prepared to table an offer which could see him earn more than TREBLE that amount with £25,000 a week. New Gers boss Ally McCoist is determined to do all he can to keep the former Hibs ace. He held talks with him four days ago to make it clear he is a key part of his plans. But with just 12 months on Whitty's deal McCoist might be not be able to keep him - IF Bursa table a better offer. It's unlikely new owner Craig Whyte will match the wages. And Gers might be forced into cashing in now rather than seeing him go for nothing in 12 months. I disagree. His performances most of the season were good, but his goals were not there throughout the season, having said that he scored a career best of 15 last season,so he is improving and can continue to improve.
