Graeme Souness: 'Not impossible' for Gerrard to beat Celtic to the title
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
That's another thing that encourages me to be positive about it. He comes across as a smart guy. He could have chosen an easy start to management by going to some team that doesn't expect to be winning all the time. Instead he chose to come to a team where he knows the expectations are very high, every defeat is a disaster and who have burned through two managers in less than two years. The fact he chose this path must indicate he has supreme confidence he can do this. If he's confident I'm confident until I have reason to feel otherwise. -
Graeme Souness: 'Not impossible' for Gerrard to beat Celtic to the title
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Well as has already been stated you can say what you like and if you have already decided it's all stacked against him then you must be in a sorry place awaiting another total failure. You're waiting to see if he's a proven success? I'm waiting to see if he's a proven failure. We're approaching exactly the same thing from opposite directions. I'm in a happy place awaiting good times while apparently you're not and my positivity is no more insubstantial than your reasons for negativity. He's unproven you say? So is your belief that he isn't up to it. -

Graeme Souness: 'Not impossible' for Gerrard to beat Celtic to the title
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
It has to be noted that not once did I say anything about what he won as a player. What did Rodgers win as a player? Again what I said was to all intents and purposes he appears to have qualities we would hope to have in a manager. Leadership ability and a tactical astuteness. But don't take my word for it listen to others who are still in the game including the current Liverpool captain. So, "not only as a player, but also as a leader and a captain." I'm puzzled by a seeming desperation to dispute his known qualities as being a good sign of a promising managerial career. Yes we all know it's still to be tested that's been done to death further afield than here. But that's actually the very first thing I said when I began this line of thinking. The very first 4 words. Now if anyone doesn't want to believe his qualities are the stuff of manager material that's fine but i'm choosing to believe it's highly positive. I don't see the need to flog to death the fact that it's not a definite when I started the whole thing by saying that. We're all agreed on that. -
Graeme Souness: 'Not impossible' for Gerrard to beat Celtic to the title
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
And I already described exactly why I believe he can be a successful manger, and I think they are all valid points. So. Proven leader and a notable tactical awareness during a game. What else does a manager need? As for them there were times last season we could and should have taken them but didn't. It's hardly unrealistic to think we can take it a step further with a better squad than last season and a more tactically astute manager. -
Graeme Souness: 'Not impossible' for Gerrard to beat Celtic to the title

In your opinion the cards are stacked against Gerrard, in my opinion they're not. Or at least not in terms of being dominant against all but them. Obviously they have a financial advantage but so do we over the sheep and the rest that hasn't worked out as it should. I have a feeling the also rans will be consistently blown away by Gerrard so then it comes down to how many points they drop to the also rans and how many if any they drop to us. That's not a venture into being unrealistic. It's a mild degree of optimism. -
Graeme Souness: 'Not impossible' for Gerrard to beat Celtic to the title
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Nothing is ever certain but taking everything into account the chances of Gerrard being a success as a manger surely have to be good. One of the greatest features we want from a manager is that he has to be a leader. i think we can be confident he's a leader having captained both Liverpool and England and having been quoted as a leader throughout his glittering career at the very top level. He needs tactical awareness. He has more experience than Rodgers of top level football from the inside, ie, being on the pitch. Rodgers never played top level football. His highest level as a player was Newport. Gerrard was noted for having an exceptional ability to read a game and captain/lead his team to whatever was required to turn a game around. All of that is exactly what we need from a manager so with that in mind and given a good transfer window it is indeed not impossible and further than that not highly unlikely for him to beat them. -
Rangers clinch loan deal for Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Definitely a factor you would imagine. Playing in a side scraping for points to avoid relegation will be nothing like the attacking style Liverpool play. We on the other hand will be playing something much closer to that style. Plus we obviously also have a manger who knows it so well. -
SFA to block Rangers slashing Celtic ticket allocation for Scottish Cup
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
It's about restricting the number of tickets for opposition fans at Ibrox. Rangers don't need the away support to fill Ibrox. -
SFA to block Rangers slashing Celtic ticket allocation for Scottish Cup
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Cup games were never mentioned when they made the statement about cutting away allocations for league games. So presumably Jackson is ranting about nothing. Again. -
I don't go around looking for stories about them. I read the SPL news on such as the BBC and see it reported there. And I never suggested finishing above the sheep was the target, the sheep suggested that and I'm mocking that suggestion. Every season our objective is to finish above everybody. And that's another major difference between them and us. They have no major aspirations to be champions which is another reason they'e not on the same level as we are. Coming second is their version of winning but that's going to be taken away too. And apparently you agree with me on that point.
-
We're talking about the natural order and their natural place is and always has been below us. Rangers 54 titles sheep 4? That's the natural order. I don't have an obsession with them I have an obsession with Rangers and restoring the natural order.
-
That's not their natural place it's a temporary anomaly. We've been like a wounded lion the sheep who would typically be caught can get away from. Our wounds are close to healing which will restore the real natural order. You can't say that the natural place of the sheep is above us when they're a club who haven't won a title in over 30 years while we won over 4 times as many titles in that period alone as they have won in their entire history.

The last season ticket I had was in BF3. I liked it there.

The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
JFK-1 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
The numbers are another unknown. -
To be fair Kenny Dalglish played his final game for Liverpool and the final game of his career at the age of 39 after having being player manager of Liverpool for 5 years. But he hadn't retired before then and been out of the game. Somewhat different to asking a 38 year old who hasn't played a match in 2 years to pull on a jersey.

The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
JFK-1 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
He's still just 25 which in terms of the current transfer market prices would appear to be acceptable value if he's as good as some appear to think he is. I'm presuming Mark Allen and Stevie G know what they're doing with our limited resources and especially so Stevie. His managerial credentials are on the line. -
Welcome to the forum. I'm born and bred Scottish and lived all my life in Scotland till coming to Oklahoma a little over 6 years ago now. MLS is getting slowly better and will probably continue to do so but it can't be compared to the likes of Scottish football where clubs are over a century old and have had entire families supporting them for generations.
-
Heard his legs are gone. Whether that means he could still play a part of a match I don't know.
-
Humble in the face of a bleating sheep that's forgotten it's natural place in the hierarchy? Never! And half way through last season there came a period when everything clicked for a while and it seemed they would indeed be put in their place but it all fell apart. And what do I have to fear from a flock of sheep who despite the fact we had such a 'bad' season still only manged to finish 3 points ahead of us and could have finished behind us right at the end if not for a suspicious bookie busting result on the last day. We have a true professional in place now who wont tolerate the inconsistency and lack lustre performances against also rans. They will be put in their place and assertions that we have a job on our hands to overtake them are literally sheep brained. Their real target is competing with hubz and hearts not us.

Scottish Football Association chairman Gary Hughes to step down after calling Rangers fans 'the great unwashed' Scottish Football Association director Gary Hughes is to step down on Wednesday following a row over an article in which he referred to Rangers fans as the "great unwashed". Rangers chairman Dave King had already called for Hughes to be suspended by the SFA after a photograph of a 2006 article from The Publican appeared in a newspaper. Hughes, who was then chief executive of the trade magazine's publisher, was credited as writing in a piece on Glasgow pubs: "The next best thing to being at Celtic Park (only the great unwashed venture south to Ibrox) is watching the game, pint of Tennents in hand, with some like-minded souls." Now the SFA has announced in a statement that independent non-executive director Hughes will not seek re-election at Wednesday's Annual General Meeting. Hughes, who joined the SFA board in April 2015, has been on holiday since the row broke out but has now decided to stand down after returning to Scotland. SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell said: "I would like to thank Gary for his service to Scottish football over the past three years. He brought a wealth of business experience to the game and a passion to drive Scottish football forward at all levels. "We wish him the best of luck for the future and thank him for his efforts as a trusted and valued member of the board." Hughes - also on the boards of several retail and healthcare firms along with the Scottish Event Campus, previously called the SECC - added: "It has been an honour and a privilege to bring my professional expertise to the game I love. "I have been involved in business for 30 years but the commitment of my board colleagues - and indeed everyone involved in Scottish football - to improve the national sport in this country has made it an absolute pleasure. "I will remain a passionate supporter of the Scottish FA's activities but it is time to focus on other business interests at home and abroad." SFA bosses launched a probe into Hughes' comments when they emerged last month. King, who has also called for an investigation into Scottish Professional Football League chairman Murdoch MacLennan's business links to Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond, gave a statement to the Daily Record demanding Hughes be suspended. It said: "I can confirm receipt of information, that would appear to be credible, and which merits immediate and thorough independent investigation. "Mr Hughes should be suspended pending this investigation. I also believe steps must be taken to ascertain whether any other SFA individuals were aware of what Mr Hughes said about Rangers supporters before he was appointed a non-executive director of the governing body in 2015. "It is important to discover if there has been a breach of the SFA duties and responsibilities to all clubs." https://talksport.com/football/scottish-football-association-chairman-gary-hughes-step-down-after-calling-rangers-fans

Rangers legend Andy Goram has urged Steven Gerrard to come out of retirement and take up a playing role for the Ibrox club alongside his managerial duties. Gerrard, the former Liverpool and England captain, officially took charge of the Gers earlier this month having been confirmed as their new manager at the beginning of May. The 38-year-old left his job as Liverpool’s Under-18 boss to take his first steps in the world of senior management, two years after retiring as a player following a short spell with LA Galaxy in MLS. And though he has not pulled on a pair of boots for a professional match since November 2016, ex-Rangers keeper Goram has no doubt Gerrard would be good enough to represent the Ibrox club on the pitch. Speaking to the Daily Record, Goram said: “If I was Gerrard, the first thing I’d be doing would be getting my boots out because he’s 10 times better than what has been in the Rangers team over the last few years. “He’s 38 but put him in. Honestly. “After watching last season, no one can tell me he couldn’t do a miles better job than what there is in there. “He’d dominate the midfield against any team and it would be a good move.” https://talksport.com/football/rangers-fc-news-andy-goram-urges-steven-gerrard-come-out-retirement-and-play-ibrox-club

I can't believe you confessed to that. I bet you were all decked out in tartan with troosers up to the middle of your shins.
-
I will hazard a guess that ours were actually first choice and weren't a transfer listed 25 year old because they couldn't get into the team and further that we wont be shopping in that market this year. I doubt our Summer additions will amount to transfer listed league one 25 year olds who were deemed surplus to requirements because they couldn't get into a team that scraped a 9th place finish. Despite all the events of recent years we still are on a different level to them whether they acknowledge it or not.
