  1. I suppose if they have any sense of financial equity in mind and if we have to be away they might schedule us to be away to a side unlikely to be in the top 6. Give them a chance of two bites at the Rangers pie before the split.
  2. Might have considered it if they wanted to give us Skrtel and £10 million weeks ago but not now. Not only do we now have our younger CB's we don't have the time to replace Morelos and his value is only likely to increase. He can always be moved on for big money at a more convenient time.
  3. And I definitely don't want a 21 year old swapped for a 33 year old. The Skrtel boat has sailed, we got our central defenders in.
  4. Latest to allegedly be on Gerrard's radar is Liverpool full back Jon Flanagan who has apparently recently been released. Yahoos also allegedly interested. Flanagan made his breakthrough into the first team Under Rodgers. Rangers Linked With Another Player With Liverpool Connection: Should Steven Gerrard Go For Him?
  5. To be fair who does give a rational opinion? Look at the forums of any other club and all they talk about each time we make a signing is how skint we are, where does the money come from, liquidation soon. Incidentally Gerrard was going to quit just last week because he has "been sold a pup" apparently. If we take off running I predict this simple minded insanity will if anything crank up a notch if that's even possible. We need to demand more money from shirt sponsors. Point out that we have more non fans than fans obsessing over our every move.
  6. Gotcha.
  7. Doesn't work for me anymore.
  8. Being published on Friday. Wonder what sort of spanner may be thrown into our works this time round. https://spfl.co.uk/news/article/201819-fixtures-two-days-to-go/
  9. Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern could be set to see one player come in, yet they could see another leave and will have to wait and see what the club decides. New manager Steven Gerrard has been busy this summer having already secured five new additions – however, he is thought to still want to bring more into the Light Blues. The Gers have been trying to get Martin Skrtel to join them but they failed to make an offer that was deemed acceptable by Fenerbahce. However, reports in Turkish media outlet Yeniakit are claiming that the Super Lig side are interested in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, and as such could be prepared to offer the Slovakia international and cash for the Colombian. It is understood that Fenerbahce are keen to offload the 33-year-old from their wage bill, and Gerrard is thought to have made it a priority to bring him to Ibrox as he wants to build his squad around him. And while a move for Skrtel could well be on, it’s not all good news for Rangers fans, as losing the influential Morelos would no doubt leave a gaping hole in their forward ranks ahead of the new season. Landlord’s Verdict: It remains to be seen if whether Rangers will entertain the possibility of a deal, as they have recently completed the signing of Nikola Katic, with Connor Goldson joining him in the last few hours. The Gers did reject offers for Morelos last winter, yet Gerrard could be tempted to accept a bid for him now, while the locals in the bar are split as to whether they should just go for a cash sum, or indeed take Skrtel as well. Only time will tell whether a move involving one, both, or neither player does indeed take place. https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/scottish-premier/rangers/gerrard-could-finally-get-main-transfer-target-but-its-not-all-good-news-for-rangers-fans/
  10. Think it should be acknowledged that Martin is 32 and came to us having played little football in the previous season for one reason and another. Goldson at 25 is coming into his prime and if the Brighton fans are correct could become a major asset.
  11. The Brighton fans went down the same road as the obsessives here do though to be fair that's where they get their information. Example. It all boiled down to they can't afford him, he wont go because Scottish football isn't good enough for him, back to they're broke and evolving into Gerrard is about to quit. Same thing from hubz obsessives, they're broke, and club 1872 is a money laundering vehicle for shady funds. All that crap used to irritate me but i'm now strangely beginning to enjoy their public meltdown which even more comically is on a hubz forum thread entitled sevco meltdown and runs to 1,390 pages of the most insane obsessing. They chatter more about our signings and us in general than we do.
  12. Being Scottish you might think he has followed Scottish football all his life and he obviously knows the general environment of Scottish football better than Gerrard possibly could. And knows the divisive nature of the old firm better than maybe Gerrard ever will.
  13. Surely Mark Allen knows what's required?
  14. Yes, you have. But all joking aside we wont know exactly what we have till he has played but have to trust the judgement of Mark Allen and presumably Gerrard. According to transfermarkt the fee was £2.43 million but i'm just as interested in his appearance statistics for 2017/18. Squad: 34, Starting eleven: 34, Substituted in: 0, On the bench: 0, Suspended: 0, Injured: 0 Someone we can perhaps rely on to always be available and not injured. Was also captain for 4 of those appearances. Encouraging sign for a 21 year old. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nikola-katic/profil/spieler/422051
  15. I suppose we have to be happy with recent activity. We spent the entire season bitching about the defence and largely the central defence. That appears to have been dealt with. Given that we were already the highest scoring team in the league throw in a striker and we're definitely making good progress this window. Has to be done as quickly as possible since we have a Europa qualifier in just over 4 weeks. Then we can all start bitching again. Hopefully about winning 5-0 and it should have been at least 8.
  16. Miller apparently being offered the Livingston managers job. Kenny Miller speaks to Aberdeen and is "intrigued" by Livingston
  17. Decent goals to games ratio at NAC Breda last year and might get even more out of him in a dominant side. I'm really eager to see if we're going to be continuing with the lone striker strategy. Not the Liverpool way but who knows what Gerrard will have in mind.
  18. You have to suspect that European champions Portugal haven't included Alves in even a preliminary squad just for the sake of sentimentality. I would still like to see how he could perform in a Gerrard team with another good quality CB beside him.
  19. A gif is an animated photograph like the one in the post above yours.
  20. I think make the group stages with prize and gate money etc taken into account can generate an estimated £10 million or so. A fraction of CL money but a significant sum for us at this stage. El Dorado for hubz or sheep if they made it.
  21. Might get a good crowd for the first one. Not a competitive game but still a chance to get a look at how Stevie G might set up. Plus a look at some new players.
  22. It's where we are right now and if loans can provide the quality to get us to the Europa league group stage bring them in.
  23. Would be better for us if he doesn't go and if he does go doesn't play much.
  24. Pena seals loan move to Mexican side Necaxa RANGERS midfielder Carlos Pena has joined Mexican side Necaxa on loan, the Liga MX outfit has announced. The Ibrox flop lasted just half a season in Scotland before being sent to Pedro Caixinha's Cruz Azul in January, but his loan spell there was cut short after a series of off-field mishaps. Pena then checked into rehab in Tijuana last week in a bid to recover from his alcohol problem. But the 28-year-old, who has two more years left to run on his Ibrox deal, was handed a career lifeline by Necaxa on Thursday. The Liga MX side welcomed him with a message on Twitter saying: "Come on Gullit! To defend these colours" Pena spoke out earlier this week about his troubles with alcohol, revealing that former Gers boss Pedro Caixinha was aware of his struggles before signing him. He said: "Caixinha knew about my issues, we were together for six months in Scotland so he was aware about my situation. "I want to cleanse myself, that's why I have come here. I have a problem and I still have it, but I am getting treatment for it. "The people here are wonderful. I have heard some incredible stories. They have made me feel valued again. "I want to return to being a father, a husband, a son and a brother. I want to come out of this and be the best midfielder in Mexico again." http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/rangers/16275527.Rangers_midfielder_Carlos_Pena_seals_loan_move_to_Mexican_side_Necaxa/
  25. According to reports, newly appointed Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has made the loan signing of Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke his top priority. Liverpool roped in Solanke from Chelsea last summer but he failed to impress at Anfield as he struggled for game time. Solanke managed just five starts in the Premier League last season and scored just once, with his solitary strike coming against Brighton on the final day of the season. The 20-year-old’s struggles at Anfield are understandable, considering Jurgen Klopp had Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane blowing away teams left, right and centre – both domestically and in Europe. So, Solanke failed to find a way through and hardly made an impact while coming off the bench. Solanke has shown signs that he is not yet ready to compete for a top Premier League team. Lack of game time, coupled with his lack of confidence has seen the striker struggle in front of goal at Anfield. However, a move away from Merseyside could work well for Solanke. Rangers are interested in a loan deal for Solanke, who should jump at the prospect of playing under Gerrard. Solanke may have failed to live up to the billing at Liverpool, but he surely possesses the right attitude and hunger to learn and improve. And Gerrard will be the perfect manager to help him improve his game and regain his lost confidence. Although primarily being a striker, Solanke could be utilised on the flanks by Gerrard at Rangers. Solanke is someone whose talents are well known to Gerrard, owing to his coaching stint with the Reds youngsters, and the former Liverpool skipper will need to find out a way to help the young Englishman regain his scoring touch. Solanke possesses a natural ability to glide past defenders and score goals. He is strong, powerful and pacey. At Rangers, the young Englishman would also receive several opportunities to showcase his talents, Additionally, he could develop physically in a league which is known for its forceful and vibrant nature. Regular football and the manager’s trust could help to get the best out of Solanke. He is a player clearly struggling with form and is also lacking in confidence due to the limited game time he got under Klopp. But there is no denying Solanke’s talent and a season away from Anfield could do him the world of good. The Scottish Premier League has proven to be a decent breeding ground for young talents over the last few years. Rangers have shown trust in Gerrard to end Celtic’s domestic domination and bring back the glory days at Ibrox. After strengthening the wide areas with the additions of Jamie Murphy and Scott Arfield, it is time for Gerrard to show faith in Solanke and sign him from Liverpool. If Rangers do succeed in getting Solanke on loan, it would be considered a masterstroke from Gerrard. And from Liverpool’s perspective, they will hope to get an improved and prolific Solanke back at Anfield in January or at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign. https://soccersouls.com/2018/06/08/go-for-him-gerrard-signing-this-premier-league-ace-could-turn-out-to-be-a-masterstroke-for-rangers/
