I have been watching them bleating recently about the 'bias media' who are all talking about how Gerrard has to catch Celtic while completely ignoring sheep land and their assertion that we need to catch them first. Well, I now have a full blown dose of terror of the sheep. They have laid down a marker by signing a household name, Chris Forrester, from league 1 Peterborough United where he couldn't get a game last season. Peterborough being littered with such quality it's perfectly understandable why he couldn't get a game. I'm sure you are now all sharing my terror. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.

Let's see if he turn up for pre season in a couple of weeks time.

The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
JFK-1 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Rumour of the day. RANGERS SET TO SWOOP FOR MAGNIFICENT MIDFIELD MAESTRO Now that he has officially started work, Rangers fans can begin to dream about a return to the glory days under Steven Gerrard, though the new man in charge at Ibrox will have to bring in several quality players if his side are to challenge Celtic straight away. Scottish football may not be at its strongest right now, but the opportunity to represent a huge club under a manager whose name is known across the globe as a result of his playing exploits will certainly be an attractive proposition for many. Throw in boyhood support of the Gers, as well as the fact that your contract at a team freshly relegated from the Premier League is set to expire at the end of the month, and it is easy to see why James Morrison is being linked with a move north of the border. A veteran of over 300 Premier League games, perhaps West Brom would not have endured such a terrible campaign had the 32-year-old not suffered an Achilles injury that restricted him to just four top-flight appearances in 2017/18: This would certainly seem to be the case based upon the evidence of the previous season, with the Baggies scoring an extra 0.5 goals per match and collecting an additional 0.6 points per game when Morrison featured in 2016/17. A Europa League finalist during his time at Middlesbrough, the Scotland international is a cultured midfield player capable of making well-timed runs into the opposition box, as demonstrated by his direct involvement in 68 Premier League goals during his career. These numbers are, of course, nowhere near as impressive as those put up by Gerrard in the English top-flight, but working with someone who has been such a star could only help to improve the 32-year-old’s understanding of his position. https://www.kickoff.co.uk/85801/rangers-set-to-swoop-for-magnificent-midfield-maestro/ -
Sounds like he's a binge drinker rather than a full blown alcoholic. Had a number of years of binge drinking myself and it's an easier habit to break than full blown alcy syndrome. There's definitely a player in there who could be very valuable to us on the pitch next season if he can get his act together and be a professional footballer. We now have a man in charge who is the epitome of professionalism. He will know whether Pena is as fit as he can be or just going through the motions. Gerrard wont tolerate anything but 100% professionalism and hopefully that's what we get.

Ramones? Badly mistaken. Here's the most obvious selection.

I hope not. Shit he's older than Gerrard and I doubt he will be getting a game. -

If they're better than we could hope to afford I will take it. One they happened to mention was this one and he appears to have a sterling goal scoring record at international under 16's and 17's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhian_Brewster -

Took a look at a Liverpool forum and searched for mention of Rangers sorted by most recent. Seems their fans have a view that any good boy who currently has no chance of forcing himself into such a stellar side but who they want to keep for the future should be offered on loan to Stevie G at Rangers for a couple of seasons to get experience and game time. -

Why would he do that? We're skint and ready to go into admin every week. Plus they're the second best team in Scotland. But maybe a masonic dark spell could hypnotise him into taking a step down to a skint lesser side.

Graeme Souness: 'Not impossible' for Gerrard to beat Celtic to the title
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I'm confident but that's just part of being a typical lifelong fan especially so after the events and disappointments of recent years. But if Gerrard doesn't bring instant success I don't want the same manager merry go round to continue. Give him at least a couple of seasons. I feel he may even be the kind of guy who might resign if it wasn't working out and he didn't think he could turn it around. We have a guy for whom a job/money is irrelevant. He already has more money than he could ever spend so is doing this reasons other than a job/money. That's a good thing in the circumstances. But in the meantime. Let's go. -

If the yahoos perform to a similar level as last season and we stop dropping the points that should never have been dropped I see no reason we can't challenge and win it. We have to be looking for a clear gap between us and the also rans as early as the end of the first quarter. -

Gerrard has always been a driven professional and I can see him taking it to another level for this challenge. If he could win the title at his first attempt that ticks one box for his Liverpool ambitions. -

It's a competitive league and Ayr aren't one of the stronger teams in it so he will be kept busy. Good for his development. -
TOP 25 football clubs in Europe ranked by YouTube views during may 2018
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Agreed, anytime I have watched a stream on youtube it's been littered with them. Sometimes outnumbering our own even while their own team is playing. It's pretty bizarre but hey who am I to complain about anybody even grunts like them helping to make Rangers the biggest club in Scotland. -

I'm hoping the pace picks up after today though don't want anything rushed. But the reality is we have a crucial Europa league qualifying tie just 6 weeks from today. -
Tims allocation cut for next season -official
JFK-1 replied to Tannochsidebear's topic in Rangers Chat
They're old but relatively recent and an example of what they typically are and will more than likely be again in a relatively short period of time. And when that's where they are again they will be begging us to fill their ghetto and I hope we don't. I have seen it mentioned that they overspent to entice Lennon to come aboard and a tightening of the belt is due soon. Maybe one reason Lennon has made noises about getting out. He wont want to look bad if they fall back into their habit of dropping down to the championship for a spell. -

The likes of hubz have had a recent purple patch by their indisputably typically mediocre at best standards. It wont last and when it begins sliding back to the their usual poor to mediocre they will be whining for us to come finance them again. I hope we don't. An example of what their usual is. Take season 2011/12 Highest attendance (15,281) Lowest attendance (6,923) Average attendance (9,909) -
Wish Rangers were as poor as Arsenal. Narrowly beaten in a Europa league semi final would do me nicely right now.

Steven Gerrard is putting his Liverpool legacy on the line by moving to Glasgow. Rangers legend Terry Butcher insists that Gerrard is risking everything because, if it goes badly at Ibrox, then his dream of one day managing Liverpool will be in tatters. Butcher is full of praise for the Liverpool legend for making the move to begin his management career north of the border. But it comes with a warning about how difficult it will be to catch Celtic, let alone try to overtake them in a rivalry where finishing second is nowhere. Ex-Ipswich and England star Butcher said: “It’s sink or swim in many aspects. Going to Rangers as a player is difficult. Going to Rangers as a manager is extremely difficult. “It’s a very brave decision. I think Chris Sutton said that if he doesn’t do well, he might not get a shot at Liverpool, and that’s what he really wants. “You have to test yourself and there’s no bigger test than being at Rangers. “If they were equal, it would still be a massive job. If they brought in Stevie, then it might edge Rangers ahead. But they are not equal. They are a long way apart. If Celtic move further ahead, if they try to buy like they are planning this summer, then it will be even harder because they are already a long way ahead of Rangers. “It’s a club that demands perfection. It wants to be level with Celtic. I don’t know if he has the funds.” Butcher, who led the English defection to Scottish football in 1986, believes Gerrard, 37, has made a shrewd appointment by bringing in Gary McAllister as an assistant, while he also makes comparisons with another Liverpool legend. Graeme Souness went to Rangers as player-manager and Butcher is convinced Gerrard can have a similar effect – as long as he avoids getting into trouble. Butcher said: “I think Gary McAllister was a really good appointment. He knows Scotland well, knows the Rangers history. “In Graeme Souness’ first game in charge, he got sent off, they lost and yet he recovered from that and did really well. I hope Stevie does not have that in his first game! “I can’t see why he would not galvanise the club. He will attract players because it’s him. A bit like Souness did. “They have a pulling power and players want to play for these great players. They are quite similar. Graeme was a Scot and Stevie isn’t, not that it will have a big effect, but I wish him well. It’s my club, I love the club very much.” But Butcher, 59, warned that Gerrard must tread carefully in the goldfish bowl of Glasgow and believes Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers – Gerrard’s old manager at Anfield – will be a good match. “It will be strange when they are in opposite dug-outs,” he said. “I remember when we went up in 1986, a lot of English press came and were asking, ‘Why have you done this?’ Then I remember the first Old Firm game at Ibrox, we won 1-0, Davie Cooper played in Ian Durrant to score the winner. “I remember being in the foyer with all the marble and wood panels. All of the press were there and asked me what I thought. I just said, ‘Now you know why I came up here.’ “They understood. It was just a ‘Wow’ moment. “That wow factor is back in terms of coverage and is the shot in the arm Scottish football needs. I hope it works for Stevie, I really do. But I think Stevie is quite level-headed, quite relaxed about it. “He must choose where he lives — make sure he lives in the right place. You have to be careful what you do, where you go. He will be a target. “I remember going to the petrol station and you’re public property. These days it would be on Twitter about what grade of petrol you were using, how much you put in your tank… Scotland is immense.” https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/steven-gerrard-gambling-status-future-12618444

Difficult to say what may become of him. I think we could all agree a guy like Gerrard will be not just asking for the utmost in professionalism but demanding it and the recent behaviour of Pena wont be tolerated. The article says he went into rehab two weeks ago. Does this mean he has taken a look at himself and decided he still wants to be a professional footballer? Trying to suggest to Gerrard that he can be? Anyone with a chance of getting into this team will have to be turning up for pre season soon ready to get going and I don't mean going to the pub.
