He's the third most successful manager in English football history behind only Ferguson and Bob Paisley. He should have called it quits a couple of years ago but holding such a place among the greats he can still leave with his head held high.

It is about what's happening right now. Right now we're seemingly looking for a new manager while just a matter of weeks ago Murty was being touted as the obvious candidate and should be given the position permanently and be done with. The board didn't take that path and took flak for that while now we see dissent because they're not rushing down another unknown path. They were wrong when they didn't give him the job after the January window when we hit a purple patch and now they're wrong for not putting a new man in place yesterday. I want this resolved as much as anybody else but given it's so important if it takes time to get this right at last then we simply have to wait. Fans are not the best people to decide which way to go next.

I have seen more than one on this forum alone suggest they may not which if you view that as a wider movement may indeed result in fewer season tickets being sold. That helps absolutely nothing but the opposition. And yes hasty appointment is a valid concern. You really want them to rush out and appoint a new manager by Sunday as has been suggested? Who should they put in place given that our choices are so limited especially at this time of the year? Just weeks or so ago it was being widely suggested that Murty should get the job now that's been turned around. Everyone wants the "right man" but are insisting it be done in days or a couple of weeks at most? The board has access to far wiser football heads than the heads of fans who think one man is the right one before executing an about turn just weeks later. This isn't about what happened when the McInnes move fell through and Murty was given the hot seat again. It's about what's happening right now. The next step and that can't be rushed nor be dictated by such a fickle thing as fan opinions.

Questioning the board is fine but I don't see what declining to buy or threatening not to buy season tickets would accomplish aside from making the next step all the harder and more extended. Alongside that we all appear to agree the next managerial appointment is of paramount importance but we're seeing impatience around the time it's taking. In an ideal world I would like to see a new man in place today but we don't have an ideal world here. We have a short list of suitable candidates out there while hobbled by financial limitations. We just have to be patient on this one since we all know that getting the right man is crucial. The ideal candidate would have proven Euro experience but that's probably a relatively limited pool to draw from given our current financial circumstances. We have to accept the board are every bit as keen to get the right man in place as we are but we also have to accept there are indeed limitations and this may take time. I don't want a hasty appointment then another letdown because some people are getting antsy and putting pressure on the board to rush this.

Presumably someone got hold of a Seville calculator.

Well we have seen an entirely different performance in the second half before so i'm still hoping. Getting nowhere with Morelos up there alone though. It's all or nothing now. May as well throw in Cummings or Miller to support Morelos.

I think it should be obligatory when they score. Imagine the level of roaring them on to score if that were the rule. And imagine the stick we will get if some militant feminist sees this.

Have to agree, I think it's now eminently doable for Liverpool. Roma are arguably the best draw they could have asked for. I think they had to avoid Real because I think Real could take them over two legs but Liverpool can win it in a one off situation.
-
I think if Liverpool get anybody but Real in the semi they will go through. Which isn't to say I don't think they can beat Real. They can but Real with their recent Champions League pedigree would have to be favourites. Bayern aren't the team they were a few years ago and Roma are efficient but not a great side. Liverpool are a team on the rise under Klopp and if anybody can pull this off he can.

Yes indeed, the ref is untouchable and if that weren't the case the intimidation of referees which still regularly occurs in a less physical fashion would more often move into the overtly physical. He laid hand on the referee, end of story, red card.

I doubt you will be hearing any complaints from the sheep or hubz about it. In fact Lennon had already been whining about expecting to play us at Ibrox. He got what he wanted.
-
The mystery of the goalies broken face. What happened? Nobody knows.
-
Didn't do us any favours did they. If the home venue of our 3 away ties had been switched to Ibrox the usual suspects would be screaming fix.
-
Roma became only the third team in Champions League history to overturn a deficit of three goals or more. And to do it against the calibre of Barcelona is all the more impressive.
-
Roma stage a remarkable come back from 4-1 down on aggregate to Barcelona to win 3-0 on the night and go through on away goals. Liverpool also reach the semi final beating City 2-1 on the night for a 5-1 aggregate. This could very well be Liverpool's year. This type of tournament is a Klopp specialty.
-
They may make the final play off spot though they're still in a scrap with Morton for that spot. But even if they do get it on the face of it both Livingston and Dunfermline who will probably be taking the other two play off spots look well capable of beating them. Then even if they did somehow scrape through that I seriously doubt they would beat whoever lies second bottom of the SPL. Took hubz 3 years to get out of that league.

Broonaldo, Griffiths, same species.
-
Why is he so concerned about winning a title against what his support and indeed his captain broonaldo claim is a brand new entity? The club who dealt out that 1999 humiliation doesn't exist anymore. Right??? In the words of broonaldo "yer clubs deid son" Rodgers must not have got the script.

Martin Canning frustrated at Darren Lyon red card
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
I hope Accies avoid the drop. Aside from being my hometown team they have no pretensions of ever being anything other than an apprentice school for young talent before said talent moves on to bigger things and they do exceptionally well at that. Being in the SPL attracts more of that young talent because they and their parents/advisors know that if they work hard they will get regular game time at Accies in the top league. -
Following some contrary results including as examples the Kilamrnock game and the away draw to Mothwerwell which though it included a spirited fight back was still somewhat of a letdown I have been giving some thought to the immediate future. And by immediate future I mean the end of season fixtures but more so next season. After all the events of the past 6 years then the journey through the lower tiers culminating in a return to the SPL I would guess we all thought at the time it may take half a decade minimum after returning to the SPL to be anywhere near where we should be. I know I did. It may be the case that we were then distracted from such blunt realities due to an unexpected Scottish cup win over the yahoos then the signing of Joey Barton which proceeded to go pear shaped in every possible manner. Before the Barton disaster played out I feel that signing such a high profile player in our first season back in the SPL encouraged us to believe that we had somehow skipped all the steps required for a full return to former glories and were now at least almost back where we should be. But reality stepped in and reminded us that the 'journey' is not yet fully over and it may still take at least a few more years before we truly are back at the pinnacle. Positives to be considered are that we now have Ashley more or less out of our pockets and despite disappointments we actually are improving season upon season and maybe in the near to immediate future window upon window. The team this season is the highest scoring outfit in the league by a comfortable margin over most but have a goals against record which though pretty much on a par with those directly below isn't good enough to take us to the title. That along with a bizarrely poor record at what should be fortress Ibrox has left us struggling to get second spot. But again, the overall trend is still far better than last season and I confidently expect that trend to continue into next season. We will continue to strengthen and improve while all those currently below us will effectively be more or less standing still or even sliding back some. You would imagine that we can continue into next season as a high scoring team and think where that could put us if we can resolve the defensive frailties in the next window. On the face of it that's all that's required to make us strong contenders and all we're talking about here is perhaps a few players. Before that we still have the post split games to come and the end result of it is at this time very difficult to predict given our erratic form. In fact so erratic it can feature two entirely different performances in the same game such as at Motherwell. That being said we still have the possibility to end the season with a bang followed by continued strenghtening in the Summer window and the prospect of Euro football in little more than a few months from now. But we have to temper our expectations on all fronts with the memory of what we have been through. An ordeal many if not most clubs may never fully recover from or may not even survive at all. We have come through it. We are progressing and will continue to do so. There is light at the end of the tunnel. We must simply keep in mind that we are indeed still in a tunnel so to speak but gradually emerging into the light ahead. All this isn't to say that 55 isn't a possibility even as soon as next season. It is but shouldn't be seen as abject failure if it doesn't come next season. It will come and when it does we will at last be able to put this nightmare decade behind us. A footnote in our history so to speak. And how sweet that day will be. So sweet it may even eclipse memories of past glories for many of us. Need I say it? Onwards and upwards.

This is an example caught on camera of the current behaviour of their support.

I get a feeling that Rodgers is entirely unconcerned about "showcasing" Scottish football but having nightmares that he could somehow still blow this with the winning post in sight. Two of the 5 he will be facing have already beaten him while another 2 have taken points from him in games which he was arguably fortunate to take a share of the spoils. If memory serves only the sheep of the 5 have taken nothing from him. Maybe he should be wishing for them first.

Kenny Miller says he may have to leave Rangers this summer after revealing he plans to continue playing next season. The 38-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, marked his return to the starting line-up with the opener in Saturday's 4-0 win over Dundee. "Nothing has been discussed regarding my future," Miller said. "Who knows what will happen at the club in the summer, so I'll look after myself because I want to continue playing. I'll stay focused on that." Miller made his first start of 2018 against Dundee, having last found the net when he hit a double against Hearts in October. After tearing a hamstring before Christmas he was out for two months, but was back against Dundee and helped the Ibrox men move second in the table above Aberdeen on goal difference. Miller now hopes to play a part against Celtic in next Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final. "It was good to get back into the starting line-up because I haven't done that since December," he said. "It's been a frustrating time out for me. But sometimes you just have to bide your time. "Hopefully my experience is important to the team - and I hope it's required next week as well. "I was being written off after the injury but I was comfortable with it, I always felt I'd come back. I'd relish the chance to go in against Celtic next week." http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43689344
