Would be a welcome change from the last two seasons.

Official site confirm sacking The Serb whose comments I have read says it is down to a poor performance versus Tallin and also his comment that he "prayed they did not concede the third" was the last straw, showing the guy was clueless.
-
Another Serbian poster on FF (a Red Star fan) confirms saying the new guy will be announced at 3pm. However a further poster says Milorad Kosanović has been appointed.

Looking at our next few fixtures(Home Bold) and think we should be taking 3 points every game at least up to the Hearts game at Tynecastle, which is certianly winnable too: St Mirren Falkirk Kilmarnock Gretna Hearts Going up to Hearts away I wouldn't be happy with less than 12/12. Early days I know, don't jump the gun, count your chickens etc, but any Rangers team shoudl be winning that run of four games. I know the bottom 6 is where we threw away teh league last year, but under Walter I don't think we'll see that problem. He wont allow it. Look at what we did to last year's bogey team last week.

Link Saw this and initially thought that the truth was coming out about the £10mil we will spend, i.e inclding Thommo that would be it. However he goes on to say more is available, yet many fans quote WS as saying we are over budget. Which is it?

Your memory is better than mine then . The rest were pretty gash then. Muscat was a terrible Eck signing. Ricksen's best games were in midfield. Vidmar scored a wonder goal against Parma but most bears seem to think he was mince. I can't really remember if truth be told. Thought he was ok from what I can recall. Ross is the player Hutton could've become. Think the fans take some portion of blame in that. We can sometimes strip a player of all confidence. I said I couldn't remember a better one, but looking at the options it's a no brainer.

Club in turmoil can only help, hopefully. Unless they get that extra 10% every side seems to get when players are trying to impress the new manager.
-
That's an interesting one, will give it a bit of thought. Might need to check up a few things as well, because if Frankie hadn't pointed it out I wouldn't have realised Albertz only played for one season this century. Despite being one of Hutton's biggest fans I'm suprised to see he's the pick of the RB's, although personally I can't recall a better option. Shows we've obviously not been blessed there in recent years. As I say not that I don't rate him, but due to his injury he's not played to the level he did last term over a consistent period.

As above, I haven't seen Cousin play yet and so would be tempted to chcuk Novo up top with Boyd. As Craig says we have a different selection dilemma this year. Last year it was a case of trying to find a half decent player in the squad to fill each position in the starting line up. This year the problems are who you leave out. A much stronger position to be in.
-
Heard that name a wee while ago, but it's all gone quiet there recently. Mind you that would parrallel the Cousin transfer.
-
All sounds good. Def read Cousin on the official site say he's not 100%, depends if WS wants to risk it. Who can we realistically get rid of though. A thread popped up on FF but most suggestions are unrealistic for once reason or another. As an exmple Adam was touted. Well Walt just gave him a 5yr deal.
-
Yeh I get the feeling that is the way Walter might go. Just seems a bit defensive to me. However if we are dominating the play it becomes an attacking 4-3-3 rather than a defensive 4-5-1. If we did that though I would look for Thomson to exert his influence on the game more and for the most part leave Hemdani mopping up in front of the defence whilst Thomson shoulders some of the creative and attacking responsibilty with Barry.

1.5mil euros makes me feel a lot better than £1.5mil, that's about £1mil right. Now he's here we judge him on what he does as a Ranger not on what we read in the papers about his time at Lens. However, if Lens were unhappy with him as he wanted him to leave it does help my fears over his attitude.
-
Yep the options not just in personnel but also formation and tactics are vast, which will be useful throughout a long season for various competitions and styles of football we come up against. Just been reading on the official site and Cousin is quoted as saying he is not 100%fit so no way I can see him starting. I also beleive Whittaker is in the same position Cammy which is why I had Novo right, with DMB left pushing big Lee up top.
-
I said my peice before. Welcome big man, hope you prove me wrong .

Not to piss on Gribz parade, i'm sure he'll produce his usual pre-match analysis (good reads), but what team and formation does everyone fancy for St Mirren. 4-4-2 for me. 4-5-1 worked well for an away game in Europe but back to Ibrox and an SPL game we should be winning comfortably, no need for two holding midfielders against a team who will sit in and defend. GK - No reason to drop Alan McGregor, comfortably retaining his No. 1 status atm. LB - Papac was some fans' motm midweek, second best player on the park for me. Unfortunately no challenge for his place from Smith atm. CB's - Weir and Cuellar, no justification needed. RB - Broadfoot was an able deputy midweek. A solid performance. However not a natural RB and did not provide the attacking threat Hutton does, so Hutton for me. LM - Beasley should be given a chance again I think. Scored midweek despite an indifferent performance. With his pace and a few games under his belt he should have the confidence to beat his man which will prove useful in unlocking a packed defence. CM - Fergie is performing quite well atm. Motm versus Caley and a decent outing midweek if less spectacular. Needs to dictate paly more in this one and I think St Mirren will allow him to do so. CM - Thomson will sit deeper and do the dirty work to allow Fergie to get forward and hurt the opposition. Will also provide some creativity and attacking threat of his own that Hemdani will not. The only other option would be Brahim but with him off form Thomson gets the nod. RM - Novo earned the right to start last week after coming off the bench to great effect against Caley. Unfortunately he had to come off the bench midweek again, but it was whilst he was on we killed the tie off with the goal. I don't beleive Whittaker is match fit and don't see any other competition for the position with McCulloch taking one of the forward roles. Forward - McCulloch has been one of our best summer signings. His work rate and physical presence will prove a useful foil for his partner and also a decent outlet for the defence and midfield. Forward - Boyd if he is fit. Exactly the kind of game where he can bag a goal or two and get his season off and running. The Gers biggest goal threat should start every league game. The above would be my team for this weekend. However with Thomson fit, WS likes his middle 3 and may go with the 4-5-1/4-3-3. I hope not. I am also unsure as to Boyd's fitness, however with JCD almost certainly out we wont have many other options. Cousin signed today but I don't think he can go straight into the starting line up with only a few potential training sessions with his new team mates. Edit: Cousin signed as I typed this up.

Goals from Red Star 2nd leg Poor marking at the corner for the first goal, might Weir, Carlso and McCulloch be able to exploit that?
-
I definitely remember a fee in the region of £1.5-2mil being quoted when we were first linked, however the ET link someone posted suggests £1.2mil. Not much different but at least it's a bit less. When you look at Clascot's post it puts into perspective the £2mil we spent on Thomson, which some fans have complained about.

Jumping the gun a bit maybe but thought peopel may be interested in this. Been meaning to post something similar myself but its easier to steal what someone else has already written:devil: : The Tims going out is good for us for all the usual reasons but also because we would only need one other seed to fall to sneak into pot 3. It's not certain Celtic will go out, although it is a definite posibility, I suppose the same could be said for us, although we have the easier tie. But where else does a seed look like they might go out? Benfica maybe?
-
I'd probably be the first to jump on another poster for writing off a player before he's kicked a ball for us. And my knowledge of French football is not the best. Just don't get a good feeling about this one. However as I have said, assuming it goes through, i'll judge him with an open mind (as best I can) on what he does for us, not what i've heard or read about his career previous. Like I say from what i've read; weak scoring record, although the Ligue 1 is notoriously poor for goals per game compared to other top leagues around Europe, often low scoring affairs. I also have read he has pissed off both people within the club and the fans due to his attitude, althoug hI cannot recall the full story atm. However, he will add another dimension to our play in that he is a tall target man who can old the ball up, which we don't really have, other that McCulloch. But that would free Lee up to play LM and its always good to have options. Dunno bout that. Murray said we would spend in excess of £10mil on 2-3 more players. Whittaker and Cousin take the spending upto circa £9mil based on Cousin costing £1.5-2mil that was originally quoted. Naismith at £1.5-2mil takes spending to above the £10mil mark and would be the third signing. We all know Murray has a penchant for bs, but he has backed Walter o teh tune of >£7mil already this summer and for once (or should that be yet again) I expect DM to deliver.

Distinctly underwhelmed. Poor scoring record, old(ish) with issues surrounding his attitude. If he arrives though, clean slate, judge hime in the royal blue.
-
With the fact that reports said Levadia were murder in the first leg too and Red Star only scraping through on away goals, that's gotta boost everyone's confidence going into this one?
-
Is it the 3rd qualifier deadline tomorrow or the final CL deadline? No worries anyway we get Sebo! :fish:

Unlucky mate. Some problem with my online betting account, so it saved me from wating me money.

Many prominent ******s were protestant were they out? Describes those who are pro republican/ira types. How it had been twisted by the mhedia to be considered the most offensive sectarian insult is beyond me.
