    Some of the young boys playing today: Adam McCabe Heggarty Cole Kerkar Hutton Kholert Bendiksen Fleck Wylde Hemmings 3-2. Think Hemmings got the first two with Fleck the third.

    Totally agree with that mate. Well obviously it can be his or the clubs fault, but I dont have any issues with those who haven't signed in respect of Whyte and the club's side of negotiations in the current window.

    Would hardly say he's played a blinder, but he's yet to do much that I would criticise. Just in the door and whilst the transfer window has thus far been less fruitful than I would like I will wait until it closes before panicking or even attacking the new chairman. Bit of a not proven verdict so far for me.

    No issue with him talking to the ref (unless he is doing so in a manner which could lead to a booking) as that's his job. There have been a very few incidents where has got physical with opponents which could have cost him and us but on the other hand it is good to see he is just as competitive as the young'uns in his old age. Cant remember the last time he over stepped the mark in this manner though. Ps. Who wouldn't take the opportunity to throttle Caldwell. They were both at it to be fair. You are correct on that point though.

    I still don't understand the ferocity with which people attacking employees of the club for papers chasing them for soundbites to sell their rags? Happens mostly with players during the season.

    I seem to remember one of the biggest concerns when the potential of him staying on this season was previously raised was that Celtic, the rest of the league and journos would mock us over his age. So what? "If you're good enough you're old enough" surely works both ways?

    Gotta side more with Danny on the Hemmngs/Miller issue but havng said that, it is difficult to make a proper assessment without knowing what our full transfer budget is and what percentage would be used on Miller or Goodwillie. No problem with Hemmings getting game time if he's good enough but as Zappa says 5-15 minutes at the end of a game when the result is all but confirmed is not enough. There will be many times this season when we have a 2 or 3 goal lead by the hour mark and should be looking at giving some of these young lads a good half hour to learn their trade at least.

    I wasnt attacking danny's poll specifically. Just pointing out that as I myself feel somewhere in the middle with the two options and from posts here it is clear others feel the same that the result is difficult to put much faith in. I find myself somewhat bothered, but if forced to pick would have to go for not bothered. It doesn't accurately reflect my views.

    I'm sure everyone is more than capable of qualifying their own vote as many have done. I think the reason for the way the votes have ended up is because there are only two polar opposite options. More options in between the two might reveal more answers more towards the concerned end of the range of answers.

    Only been about a couple of years I think since Platini restructured the qualification process. I dont know precisely how it works for the non-champions route that Celtic failed to negotiate last year and whether or not their final round of qualification is called a play off but I think this is the first year a Scots team has gone through the champions qualification route and is perhaps why we are first hearing this term and the 4 rounds of qualification.

    The defeat to the lower league German team and the lack of goals concerns me. Defeats to Bochum and Leverkusen in non-competitive games would be of no real concern normally with fitness and practising new formations/tactics and integrating new players more important. As I say though the defeat to the amateur (?) team and no goals does not inspire confidence. As johnny says though, start the league season well and it wont matter a jot.

    Just the fourth qualifying round with a daft name. Will still be seeded if we are in and we still be "only" against other champions. No Arsenal etc.

    Was it under Strachan where Celtic were getting poor pre-season results then winning the league. The Lotte result would be concerning as is the lack of goals.

    I think you need to look at whats being said and not get defensive just because it was me who said it.

    Strong and bizarre choice of words there. Ideally a quality centre back will be brought in to reduce the need to place so much responsibility on Weir. Hardly a hideous collection of first teamers though. Whittaker Weir/another Bougherra Papac would be an acceptable back four for another season, if not ideal.

    Certainly not as good as Numan, but clearly better than Vanoli and Vignal for me. Vidmar may be up for debate.

    That's not what I was suggesting. Either a player's character and personality outside of football is something you would consider when making football decisions or it's not.

    I would suggest your arguement is a bit muddled. A player who hands in a transfer request could be accused of being disloyal. There are ways for a player to push along or force a transfer without handing in a transfer request. I would say that would be a last resort.
