We all know that when England get anything approaching a top quality player they must rush to proclaim him the best in the world. And much liek Celtic, repeat something often enough and it becomes fact. So for the past few years they've been proclaiming Cole the best left back in the world because he's good at attacking and plays for a team that mostly dominate games so he gets to show off his attacking. Now that Bale in recent weeks has put in immense displays of attacking full back play and at the highest level in Europe, above a level Cole has ever shown, where does that leave England and their desperated claims of having the best player in the world in a given position. FWIW, he wasn't even the best prior to Bales pretty meteoric rise.

Gab Marcotti wrote a really interesting piece on Bayern Munich and German football in, I think, yesterday's Guardian. Their commercial sponsorship is more than Man U and Liverpools combined I think. They can get away with cheap tickets because they have many flush fans paying up to �£8000 a year for season tickets that include a free-lunch etc. Prices are perhaps low because generally speaking German tv rights are poor which Marcotti suggests is because Germans aren't prepared to pay for footy on tv, they don't want to drive them from games too. Sorry, way off topic though.

Not seen it for a while now, but not all contact is a foul and my opinion at the time was no pen. A decision upheld by the panel who reviewed the whole issue. They agreed Craven's advice not to give it was correct. The only problem, aside from the fact that it was a farce in eventually making the correct call, is that it was a correct call given against Celtic.

He beat you too it. And I don't think they are overrated. You don't routinely finish in the CL/UEFA places in Spain if you're not a quality side. It's like saying Arsenal aren't good because they can't break the Man U/Chelsea duoply down South.

Drew 1-1 home to bottom of the table Zaragoza. An o.g. brought them level. Unsure if key players were rested: Both goals first half. Zaragoza played 22 mins + stoppage time with 10 men.

Read elsewhere that a podcast this week mentioned only ourselves and Real Madrid remain the only European sides unbeaten in all competitions. I assume this applies only to Europe's top divisions.

Of course it fucking wasn't. Yet thanks to all Celtic's greeting it's almost agreed that they were somehow robbed. Moaning that a correct decision was given in a game they ultimately won. Fuckwits.
