  1. I doubt any fan has a problem with cutting our cloth to match our circumstances. If we can't afford to pay for expensive players (fees or wages) then we don't take the risk - simple. However, that doesn't mean we can't still have the ambition and innovation to maintain success. That is what is missing from SDM (and the rest of the board) so that is what I'm hoping Whyte will bring (as well as the money!)...

Probably more to do with the fact we'll need to pay him a few grand when he makes his d©but.
  3. Not at this stage no. My own viewpoint on this (and it is merely speculation) is that the alleged alternative bid may have been from people Whyte wanted involved in any case. Not sure what is happening there.
  4. :D Good point Pete - I'll let him know!
  5. It's a fair point but I think it is important that if we're to go through all the rigmarole of regime change that we have a reason for doing so. Extra investment is one good reason as while a change may be good for change's sake, we have to be sure we'll be better off financially to bring about the changes that are required. Sure, Murray is being somewhat hypocritical in demanding investment he can't/won't provide and I'd also like to think any stipulations just won't be financial but strategic. For example: no sale and leaseback of the stadium; no sale of the training ground (unless a better alternative is built before it is sold); and no further financial burden for supporters (unless we get something tangible for our trouble). All in all, while every bear should be excited at any prospective takeover, we can only be sceptical until Whyte et al outline their plans.
  6. Now into the Top 30 at #28...

  8. Yeah, I'm sure we all have our own particular bugbears that we'd like to see addressed. Personally I doubt we'll see a huge change in the way the club is run. Sure we may have some more money available for new players which is crucial for next season especially but for other stuff I'm not as certain - especially when we don't know where the cash is coming from and the fact Whyte has admitted to being a novice in the sports business. This proposed takeover is exciting and is arguably required but until we know more we simply can't decide if it is better than the status quo in the long run. That's worrying and is tempering my enthusiasm still.
  9. Welcome also! Always worth checking out all the different sites in the RFC community.
  10. Yeah I found that less than attractive. Given it's a football journalist writing the article and not a financial one, then perhaps we can forgive the author...
  11. Welcome aboard - glad the good people of FF are interested in what we have to say. Like you we can only cross our fingers to hope this deal happens and that Whyte is a better option than the status quo. That remains uncertain at this stage but if he can afford to the buy the club and has given MIH the comfort they require as to ongoing investment then hopefully that's good news.
  12. About Andrew Thornhill QC: http://www.pumptax.com/members/barrister.asp?b=639 Andrew Thornhill practises in all areas of tax but with special emphasis on Schedule E employee remuneration, share schemes, inheritance tax/capital gains tax planning and litigation. Chamber's Guide quoted as 'Clients say Andrew Thornhill QC is "outstanding for judicial review and unafraid to give firm advice." He is the head of chambers, whilst also negotiating a broad practice that takes in share schemes, Schedule E employee remuneration, and the tax treatment of UK property transactions purchased using offshore vehicles. He is well known as a "superb heavy hitter against the Revenue." (2011)

  14. Sent off two of our players against St Mirren in last year's CIS Cup final but decided Mulgrew wasn't denying a clear goalscoring opportunity the other week. Says it all!
  15. Still waiting on his apology for his performance the last time we played Celtic.
  16. Another pic:
  17. Like everyone we have our good and bad days with regard to breaking news. However, we broke the Tennent's Old Firm deal first last year and our information with respect to the ownership issue has been accurate so far. Two weeks ago we announced the interim results delay and The Sun also picked up on our story that the ownership deal had been agreed over a month ago but proof of ongoing finance was still an issue. All from the same source. We don't often 'break' news like other bigger sites but when we do it's usually accurate. Of course any rumour can and should be taken with plenty of salt.
  18. Such songs clearly breach the SPL's own Unacceptable Conduct rules. Rules, which as far as I can see, have never been used to punish any club so are about as relevant as an underwater hair-dryer.
  19. Welcome to the forum mate. Always useful to surf a few places across the community! I hope I'm right as well or KevThomson8 will want be sin-binned also...
  20. Would just like to add my words of thanks to Monty for organising this and ensuring our voice is heard. Looking forward to the next meeting!
  21. McCulloch may also be available for Sunday's game.
  22. I'd fancy he's a worried Celtic supporter. The initial tax 'query' has been known about for long enough so I doubt Whyte would have seriously pursued a sale if he wasn't confident of obtaining an indemnity from MIH with respect to this. Club and MIH also remain positive that they will be successful in fending the investigation off - perhaps not winning the case but certainly not having to pay anything near the scale of the Kerrydale Street accountants suggest we'll be liable for. I'm pretty sure the sale can and will progress irrespective of whether we win or lose this case.
  23. I like yer thinking!
  24. Our future King has been circumcised? I say!
  25. Despite Bougherra not having a great season I'm pretty sure we can realise more than £600K for him. £2-3million should still be possible.
