  1. Apparently this will be front page news tomorrow... Craig Whyte the name - along with our old chum Ellis and possibly backed by the Russian fella Vladimir Antonov is the rumour. Craig Whyte is the principle shareholder of investment vehicle Liberty Capital and has apparently been closely involved in protracted negotiations with representatives of the club. His impressive financial background and turnaround specialist knowledge are seen as valuable virtues by Sir David Murray as the current owner looks to sell his 91% stake in the club. More to follow - keep an eye on the front pages tomorrow!
  2. Now, that is worth reading... Have it Graham!
  3. The (usually) black guys who try and sell you cheap watches/jewellry etc on foreign streets....
  4. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3231766/Ill-be-Walts-Oscar-winner.html Honduran guy on FM forum that I use suggests the guy is a fine player and that the interest is genuine. Can't so I know anything about him but hopefully we are interested in adding players to the squad.
  5. There's no need for 7 subs anyway for the most part so it's a non-issue if we just name 5 or 6 IMO. However, we do lack depth and are only another injury or two away from increased pressure on an already thin squad. For example if Bougherra doesn't make it for Saturday's match then that will mean a back 4 of: :rf: :kb: :sw: OK, that is still capable enough but we really need Webster fit and available for such matches. Especially when up against in-form players such as Sammon or even worse, the Man Utd strike-force. That's not even mentioning the fact Whittaker and Broadfoot are both suffering from knocks and the latter requires surgery.
  6. I think it was a throwaway comment meant in jest from Jeff but it is certainly one he should have saved for the after-dinner circuit as it's rather crass as opposed to overtly racist. To be honest, I'm finding his and Leggat's blogs a bit tiresome of late. Yes, they can be enjoyable (and I'm glad they exist) but sometimes less is more.
  7. It's not a huge issue as we can only make three subs anyway so the manager obviously felt we were well covered there. However, there is no doubt we lack depth and experience which is a worry as tougher matches and conditions approach. I'd like to see us sign a couple of players in January to supplement our squad. I believe we are still being strongly linked abroad to the Honduran Boniek who is apparently a fine player.

    Injuries

Aye, knocks were always going to cause problems - particularly when the manager doesn't seem very keen to rest players when given the opportunity. We really need Webster and Beattie to contribute more while the quicker Jelavic returns the better as we look a bit stale in attack at times. I'm hoping Foster and Kerkar will help out as well. Out of all the names you've listed, I'd like to think only the Croatian will be out for longer than the next month. But this won't be the last time we're moaning about injuries - especially if we don't strengthen in January.
  9. Nope, different to that in a variety of ways - same background as old forum, similar header, a bit more subtle red and similar postbit style to old forum but retaining the quicker AJAX elements of VB (i.e. less graphics)...
  10. Have also added a Gersnet Retro style which is a bit closer to the old look.
  11. What do you prefer in that theme?
  12. I felt the goalkeeper dived early but Miller had telegraphed it by opening his foot early as well. He struck it well enough but it was at a good height for the keeper to save. Harsh on Miller perhaps but I was annoyed he missed the chance to really put Aberdeen to bed before half-time.
  13. Probably best you weren't in the club anyway - it was absolutely packed as all the navy lads were in there before the game. Maguire should have been sent off in the first half for a blatant kick at Weiss. In saying that Bougherra was lucky to only be booked when he kicked Maguire later in the game as well.
  14. Glad you and the wee man had a good day. About time we won when you finally make the effort to get to a game... Nope, wasn't on the cider - just felt Fleck had a good game where he used the ball well and got stuck in all over the pitch; including his defensive duties. Certainly didn't think McCulloch was overly influential.
  15. OK, I've rolled that back to a Cookie based system...
  16. Rangers return to winning ways with routine victory against dreadful Aberdeen outfit. http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/2010/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=336:rangers-2-0-aberdeen-player-ratings-and-mom-poll&catid=35:analysis&Itemid=67 :jf: Thought the wee man was our hungriest player and benefited from being just behind Miller in our 4-5-1 formation. The team played pretty well but no-one really stood out in my opinion.
  17. We're getting there - any other suggestions/ideas folks?
  18. No chance of a Lennon smilie on this forum... Fuck him and his ugly pus!
  19. Embarrassing attempt to goad our support. Ignore.
  20. I've darkened the border slightly - hopefully that is agreeable with everyone...
  21. OK, I've added another for your comfort... :boogie:
  22. Was there one?
  23. I agree, the smilies are crap. Should be replaced now with the more familiar ones.
  24. Unfortunately this hack is currently unavailable for VB4.
  25. 'Breadcrumbs' now added to foot of thread view (under the quick reply box).
