Gersnet Predictor mini-league now open. Please pm me the email address you signed to the predictor with so I can invite you.

Mail is using quotes from yesterday where Smith was at the Audi press-call. Express is suggesting Bain's quotes are more recent after they mentioned 24 hour deadline yesterday.

Good stuff.

'Express' suggest Beattie will be our only signing as the Smith/Jelavic deals are dead... http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/192953/Rangers-chase-strike-ace-James-Beattie

So, the Jig is in for a wee while longer..

McCulloch had a decent season last year - he certainly made more of a contribution than players who come in for far less criticism. In saying that, I find a 3 year contract astonishing unless it is structured in such a way that his pay reduces suitably each season. Having come from Wigan on a decent wage (surely around £15K p/week), I'd be very disappointed if we've offered an average utility player the same basic until he's 35 years old. As for Thomson, well he's a player I liked and was disappointed he left. However, while he publicly said he wanted to stay, whose to say what was happening behind closed doors? Maybe he wanted a wage increase in line with what a team like Boro would offer him? Fact is we do need continuity in the team amidst several players leaving. I appreciate McCulloch isn't everyone's cup of tea but I think he provides an under-rated contribution and is someone who has never hidden his love/commitment for the club while others have been less than straight. Keeping him maintains that continuity, keeps a Rangers man in the team and will hopefully see his confidence rise as any uncertainty about his future is removed. -
I'm reliably informed Smith is (or will be) in Glasgow today at some point as well.

Please go Aiden. Please. Wonder if the bhoy wonder is getting a few helpful texts from his manager...?

We all knew it wasn't going to happen by then...

With the Beattie deal imminent the chances of signing Jelavic must be zero.
-
There are others where he is smiling. He's undergoing a medical this afternoon so if he passes that he'll be signing.
-
Again - less talk; more action. The failure to sign new players is farcical.
-
Of course but spending millions on two loan players and a 30 year old run-of-the-mill forward is a risky business and smacks of panic to me.
-
Their defence is dreadful and even Robbie Keane's goals couldn't help that last season. Bellamy won't score as many as him and he'll miss more games.
-
I think we've as much chance of signing Jelavic as I have of winning the lottery. Beattie and Smith look more likely - giving us a striker and a wide player ala Novo. The loan signing of the Arsenl lad brings us to three. Job done - millions spent and only one player with sell on value if we eventually sign him. Risky stuff but they will improve our chances of winning the title.
-
We're short of something that's for sure...
-
Yeah, wouldn't surprise me to see him go to Celtic actually. He's a fine player but his wages and injury problems do make him a risk. The Celtic squad really is bloated now.
-
OK, the Eagles farce shows these things are never set in stone but it does look like we'll have a new player or two for Saturday.
