  1. Let's hope so mate. But if we can suggest that, then so can the Croatians...
  2. As per thread title - things are hotting up gentlemen....
  3. As per thread title... No mention of Jelavic - assume that transfer is dead.
  4. I don't mind bring in an experienced player but I think Beattie is extremely risky - no matter his age.
  5. Since it seems the BBC SPL Predictor is no longer, we've decided to use the Clydesdale Bank version for this season which has good cash prizes (monthly as well as total) for everyone who signs up. Why not sign up at the link below and make your predictions for this week's fixtures before we invite you all to join our league? Please pm me the email address you signed to the predictor with so I can invite you. As usual please prefix your name with Gersnet and use your user-name here (if available) to join. If that isn't possible, pm an admin with your account details in advance of the competition starting to be in with a chance of winning our own star prize (tbc). http://www.cbfootball.co.uk/score_selector/
  6. That looks to be the case but it still answers your question...
  7. Simply because the manager must feel Jelavic is a better player - capable of doing the day-day-day work of the SPL but also rising to the top when faced with European opposition.
  8. That article is over a week old mate...
  9. Neither fill me with joy with their fitness problems and lack of mobility. Boyd may have been as slow as a week in the jail and ran as if he was towing an 8 berth caravan but at least we knew he would score goals and stayed largely injury free. Jelavic to Beattie. Is that the sum of our scouting? £4million prospect to £1.5million has-been?
  10. I find it hard to decide between either of them as both have largely flattered to deceive in their time here. To be fair to both players they've suffered from injury and inconsistent team placing which hasn't helped their cause. Time is running out for both of them to prove the claim made in the thread title.
  11. Not sure mate. Problem with that is, like you say, if he does well then another team may register a stronger interest at some point over the season. Loan deals never fill me with excitement.
  12. Agree with that SB. Naismith is a clever player but, like Lafferty, is better when played further forward/centrally. He probably possesses a bit more technical talent than the Ulsterman and is certainly capable of scoring goals. Can we afford to keep both of them, Jelavic and Miller when we still lack a proper wide player?
  13. Agree with that very fair analysis Mike. Lafferty does possess something - we've seen it for Rangers and NI on occasion - but he simply can't provide it consistently. The dilemma we have is whether or not we stand by him or find someone who can do it all the time. I'd suggest our pursuit of Jelavic and Welcome means Lafferty's time at Rangers may be up.
  14. Don't like loan deals... Not often they work all that well IMO. Would prefer we signed him permanently if we really want him.
  15. I think Barazite could be a good option to have but I'm interested to find out if this is with a view to a permanent deal or just a loan which I don't fancy.
  16. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/Rangers-chasing-striker-Smith.6468035.jp Portsmouth News suggests us as well - but not at £1.5million
  17. Although The Mirror suggest Smith is going to Queens Park Rangers...
  18. Herald suggest deal will be completed tomorrow. Yawn.
  19. Done....
  20. Smith will be Novo's replacement for the wider roles. Can't say he excites me.
  21. I'll do the first game...
  22. I think Lafferty may be sold.
  23. I'd have thought a loan with a view to a permanent deal perhaps.
  24. I think :rp: is more likely to go on loan again come the end of the window... He is highly rated enough so the extra experience would do him well.
