  1. Most decent of you to apologise Boss. Obviously, our support should never be afraid of asking legitimate questions of any party involved in the likely takeover of our club and while any such debate should remain constructive at all times, it should also be open to every fan who is about to be asked to invest their money into any new ownership model.
  2. Without your source, this thread gets the closed treatment!
  3. Interesting - probably something to do with your web/security settings
  4. I don't think so unfortunately... Didn't think it was that intrusive. It is a beta install so hopefully the full version will allow people to switch it on and off in their user CP.
  5. Yeah, the whole experience thing has to be a contributory factor to the decreasing crowds.... The Stuttgart game was like no other European match I've ever been to at Ibrox. Really was a sad reflection of Scottish sport and society that such occasions have been sanitised to the point of library status. But, poor tactics and performances don't help obviously. And the £40 ticket price was a joke. All this and more needs to be addressed.
  6. Don't all rush at once...!
  7. Welcome to Gersnet, Al... The Hateley article is a good one so hopefully we can see a combination of more aggression, passion and creative quality in the team tomorrow. That would cheer us all up no end!
  8. # No-one else has indicated an interest yet - formally or informally. Obviously the extent of Duffy's own plans is open to debate as, like you say, there's not a lot to hang your hat on. Like anything to do with the club at the moment, we're basing our debate on hope rather than expectation at this stage.
  9. Click on the arrows to the right of it and it will minimise... It's used for sharing/searching purposes.
  10. I'd imagine if there are other serious parties in this consortium they'll be a bit more enquiring than any junior bank officer. As such if Duffy has to open up his finances to anyone, they'll make sure he does so. If and when that happens, hopefully we can then trust the other names that will inevitably appear before Xmas.
  11. Of course, it wasn't just the article author who had come to that conclusion but many fans on RM and other forums - including FF. That article is also exactly why we have these two further interviews today. Ergo, I'm sure Boss will be saying 'job done' this morning - even if he may reconsider any future article content very carefully to avoid some of the crap we've seen be thrown since. Like you and Bluedell say, we move on though so today's comments from Duffy and the Assembly are most welcome in that regard.
  12. Amen to that Bluedell...
  13. Indeed MF - and no insults back for my polite questions either this time! :fish:
  14. Some interesting info from the RSAssembly President after I asked him what plan of action are the Assembly looking to follow in terms of approaching the wider supporters community regarding any new owner and/or associated fan ownership scheme? He replied:
  15. Anyone have anything new for Monday now the day is almost upon us?
  16. I'd imagine like any prospective owner he'll want to know the views on the more active supporters as he launches his bid. Anything else would be bad planning. However, unlike some are suggesting, I doubt any criticisms of him will bother him all that much and I read his comments as very much tongue-in-cheek. As were boss' to a reasonable extent.
  17. Sums it up well for me Danny. Also, Andy's point about there arguably not being a better manager in charge while we undergo all this upheaval is a valid one which I agree with.
  18. You make some fair points mate but given the club's current position and our recent record with a single rich 'sugerdaddy' I don't blame any fan for showing doubt and asking the correct questions where required.# That isn't invasive but wholly prudent. If Duffy (or anyone else) is genuinely interested in being our 'saviour', then a few criticisms and questions (as well as a touch of mischief-making as he puts it) should be easily answered and water off a duck's back.
  19. Yeah, that plan of action wouldn't surprise me - Bougherra's situation makes it very easy for the club to sell one the assets without much complaint from the support. Welcome (back) to Gersnet Danny - hope you're well!
  20. Another interesting few thoughts on our manager for you to ponder from Andy.... http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/2010/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=172:dr-jeykll-and-mr-smith&catid=1:articles&Itemid=67 Robert Louis Stevenson's short story of conflicted personality, "Jeykll and Hyde", continues to resonate in the Scottish soul well over a century since it was written. Just as his literary predecessor James Hogg observed in "Memoir of a Justified Sinner", the country and its' people are often faced with an unenviable position: making a choice when both choices are equally contentious. Be it over the rights of the established Church, over the desire to improve oneself or the desire to obliterate oneself in alcohol, the conflict (or lack of) between being Scottish or British, the pride in Scotland set against the despair felt when a ned gets on the bus: being Scottish has been and continues to be a whirlpool of contradictory currents, dragging one first this way then that. And the Rangers fan can feel right at home in this tradition at present, as they watch their venerable and quasi-venerated manager Walter Smith preside over another season. The Glasgow club are two points behind rivals Celtic, but hold a game in hand over their smaller city neighbours, having lost their first league game of the season recently, the final team in the UK to lose a domestic unbeaten record. And yet, and yet...happiness is easy, sang 'Talk Talk', but the Rangers fan would no doubt disagree. Poor performances, low scoring, and a lack of exciting football combine to leave the supporter slumped in his bucket seat, chin on chest, hands in pocket, curse on lips. The appalling weather which has seen an entire winter's amount of rain dumped upon Britain in two weeks of November seems a perfect metaphor for how the Ibrox faithful are feeling. Gloomy, damp, and with no sign of spring on the horizon. Smith has come in for his share of criticism over this. Some over the top, some more constructive. But the interesting point for me is, how do I criticise a man who has led my team to title after title, Cup and Cup? It's easy to say the past is the past, football is a results business and a great record won't get you a single point this season. All true. But loyalty has to count for something! And, after all, this is the same manager who dragged the team kicking and screaming over the winning line only last May. Rangers didn't win the league due to superior players in season 08-09, and Smith must take great credit for instilling the belief that they needed to clinch the title. Add to that the praise he regularly receives from those within the game, and you see the problem: We appear to have an experienced, respected coach, who is serving up dross. I can't join in the chorus of disapproval. Loyalty to the man in the hotseat is a given from me, be he Paul Le Guen or even Berti Vogts. And mention of the last name should show that automatic loyalty is not always a good thing! I can appreciate that, even as I staunchly support Walter Smith on messageboards and in conversation. But overall, taking the lack of an alternative who knows the ropes, the financial situation at the club just now, and the history that Walter and I share (romantic and fanciful perhaps, but I feel a bond - Smith came into Rangers when I was 16, I'm now 39; he's been a part of my entire adult life!) Walter Smith will continue to have at least this bear's support. On that point at least, I am not divided.
  21. Well, we all have heard different names about who is involved and with what consortium but while a bit of 'my source this, my source that' is good fun; much better we stick to what information is available rather than facts based on innuendo.
  22. No, it seems reasonable enough of course but I'll defer to others who know about these matters than me...
  23. Thanks for that OAA - I'll let our business experts decipher that for us...
  24. I'd like to think so mate. I'm sure he'll receive plenty of attention.
