We can't use other club's support as a defence for our behavior no matter how valid it may be. Now, I don't blame anyone for being frustrated with Murray. He's going about his business the wrong way and by continually taking without giving is adding to the problems not solving them. Arguments like what's happened recently will be commonplace over the next few months. Let's not go down that route. Although debate is welcome, we have to accept the UEFA directive initially (and by association Murray's request). By doing that we can then continue discussions with the club and hopefully have leverage when it comes to the broader issue. Simply retreating into to squabbling camps is not the answer. By continuing to sing the songs we are playing into our enemies hands. Too many people haven't grasped that you can be a Protestant, a Rangers fan and a loyalist without going to a game and acting out the part of bigot/ned.

Real Radio reporting that he is on his way to Glasgow as we speak for a medical... We will be signing him for £2million.
-
Oh which I'd say 2 are good players. At this moment in time we've made a similar amount/standard of signing and arguably have a better defence and squad generally. The crucial factor is the manager IMO.

Apparantly PSV want £6million for him. Celtic cannot afford that and according to a high net worth tim I know have offered £4million. That is dependent on Petlip leaving. Moreover, Celtic are also gambling on Hearts not qualifying for the CL group stage; hence keeping all the CL pot to themselves. They are also worse off in debt terms than us now. They're are playing a risky strategy if they spend £10million on players. It could pay off or they could end up in the same troubles as we were a short time ago.

Celtic have been linked with scores of players this summer. How many signings have they actually made? When (or if) Petlip leaves then they might spend a few million. But £10million, no chance.

I doubt they'll sign either of these guys. to be honest. Just a bit of positive Rhetard spin after a shitey defeat.

Also, as much is it is frustrating to us we still have Klos, Malcolm, Bernard, Andrews, Ricksen and Fanfan all at the club with a combined wage of around £90K per week. A lot of wages and bonuses there. Until we get rid of those guys it doesn't make financial sense to bring in new players. Let's break down the last few months finances: I'd say £10mill CL money and £18mill JJB money. The Umbro money won't be as much as £6.5mill but let's say £5mill. So that's £33million in one year. Now take say £20million to get the debt down to under £10mill. Another £2million for Bar 72, that then leaves us with about £10mill to play with for this season. However, we don't have the CL money for this year and without it last year we would have made a loss previously, so it doesn't make sense to spend £10million on players while we already have at least 5 on a combined £90K per week still to get rid of. Now, if we can take the annual Umbro money and the annual JJB money and hopefull some annual CL money for the next 3 years that will give us around £10-15million to play with each season. Some of that will reduce the debt further and keep us breaking even and some will buy a few more players. But any realistic person can see that without further investment (either by DM or AN Other) we simply don't have the money to spend tens of millions on players and wages. That's not a defence Of Murray (whom I detest) but simply a realistic take on the situation. I repeat I'm as frustrated as anyone else, but we have to look at the whole picture no matter how much the final drawing might not be to our likening.

Yes, with Jim completely on this one...

Like other less PC songs before it, the offensive version of BBs will die out. The so called offending word in the song can be debated till we're blue in the face but as long as UEFA (and enemies closer to home) take an interest we cannot sing that song. That will be made clear to anyone who does try and sing it either via fan self-policing along with further official guidance. I'm hoping that the situation will be clarified regarding singing different versions of the song sooner rather than later.

It's a fair post and one which most Rangers fans probably agree with. Also to be fair Danny, several such posts have appeared on FF without them being removed. FF may be less PC than other forums but there are many people who are trying to get the Billy Boys ban message across. What is needed, as Cammy touched on, is more leadership and clarification from Rangers. I can assure everyone that will be forthcoming.

No, he still has 2-3 years left on his contract. I don't mind pulling out if the difference is £0.5million but for the sake of an extra £200K I'd be disappointed. I actually know someone in the Swiss media and he says this guy is highly rated and Nike want to use him as a brand leader over the next few years. Hence Wein's reluctance to move him on. He's worth a lot of money commercially and their main sponsor pulls out at the end of their season.
-
I think they do that usually.
-
If I couldn't get to Ibrox, then £15 a month does seem reasonable enough if it includes RTV as well.
-
Agree with that Mike. Webster is unlikely though because of his contract situation.
-
Sebo is still the most likely target...
-
Yep, it's about time an MP or 2 stood up for the fans...

Sorry guys, there's nothing wrong with what cammy is saying... Rangers do have Protestant links and although not everyone needs to appreciate that there's nothing wrong with other parts of the support being proud of that assocation. As for ignoring what is said in the press - well the club have being doing that for too many years now and this is why certain media figures see us and our club as an easy target now. So ignorance simply isn't an option.

Exactly. The problem is getting the message to the rather large apathetic majority. However, I know for a fact the RST are working very hard on that along with the club. Change won't happen overnight but the wheels are turning.

BEGINS There has been some speculation as to the reasons behind the public safety concerns that led to the decision of Greater Manchester Police not to provide policing services at the match between Bolton Wanderers and Glasgow Rangers On Tuesday 25 July. The agreed ticket allocation for Glasgow Rangers was 5,000. However, the club subsequently provided information that Bolton Wanderers should expect 12,000 fans to turn up for this event. A review of intelligence surrounding the event indicated that these numbers may be further swelled by holidaymakers from the Glasgow region attending Bolton on the day from Blackpool. Information provided by Glasgow Rangers indicated that in excess of 120 coach parties would be attending, which were not capable of being received at the Reebok stadium. A normal full Premiership fixture would attract no more than 17 coaches. Given the uncertainty around accurate numbers of supporters attending, and the probability of many thousands of fans without tickets descending upon Bolton, it was not possible to further plan for this event within the margins of public safety that we normally employ. Greater Manchester Police is highly experienced in policing football, having some of the largest teams in the country and the world based here, and our expertise in policing such events safely is outstanding. It is in this context therefore that this decision not to provide policing services was made. ENDS Jackson is looking rather silly now.

Trust Expresses Outrage at Record and Mirror 'Smear'

Perhaps, but then that would make the GMP look daft or to blame for what's happened... The art of spin... -

But they have said that. It's on the BBC website and in other papers. -

The Bolton game was actually arranged fairly late on. At that point the GMP gave permission based on no more 5000 travelling bears. That number, because of the good weather, was expected to increase and the GMP (due to increased annual leave) didn't have the numbers to cope with the increase. That's the reason and nothing else should be read into it - especially what Jackson suggested. -

No it isn't. The Record suggested the game was called off because of the Rangers fans 'threat' This article, correctly, says it's because of resources.
