  1. They have. Billy Boys is banned and we can't sing it for the time being.
  2. Yep, I wouldn't say Celtic or Hearts have got any better. We seem to have when you consider the new coaching staff and the money we've spent on new players. As such, we should bridge the gap between ourselves and Celtic/Hearts and have enough to overtake them. However, football isn't played on paper.
  3. Good man Fraser - well done. Give Jim Hannah a cuddle from me.
  4. League has to be priority and I'd also like us to qualify from the UEFA Cup group stages on the European front. Minimal and perhaps realistic expectations are simply an improvement on last year in terms of players, systems, tactics, discipline and motivation. Even if we don't win the league as long as we have tangible evidence of genuine improvement in these areas I'll be reasonably happy. Unfortunately, I doubt as many Rangers fans will be as realistic in their appraisal.
  5. Although it's great to have good individual seasons from excellent goalkeeping to constant goalscorer I actually think this season will be more of a team effort. Hopefully we have sorted out the spine of the team a bit better so new players like Letizi, Svensson, Clement and Sebo should contribute to that along with the exisiting guys such as Klos, J-Rod, Ferguson and Boyd/Prso. If I did have to pick an important player this season, I think Barry Ferguson will return to the team a better, fitter player ready to lead from the front.
  6. Already a thread blind one...
  7. The good thing is we now have 2 players for every position with a few more on top of that as well as some exciting youngsters on the fringes. PLG pretty much has his 24 man squad minus another centre-half and possibly a right back. 4-2-3-1 (Deputies in brackets) ________________________Boyd (Sebo)_________________________ Prso (Adam)__________Buffel (Namouchi)____________Sionko (Burke) __________Clement (Rae)____________Ferguson (Hemdani)_________ Smith (Murray)_Rodriguez (Fanfan)___Svensson (?)___Hutton (Ricksen) _____________________Letizi (McGregor)________________________ If we can get rid of the surplus players such as Novo, Andrews, Ricksen, Fanfan, Malcolm and Bernard; and replace them with one or 2 new guys we're laughing.
  8. He has apparantly signed.... On his official website.
  9. It's a great quote but possibly too large for a banner... Never say never though...
  10. Not before time and a great victory for the fans' groups who have been lobbying long and hard for such an action.
  11. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/news/2006/020806.html Rangers have today appointed specialist PR firm Mediahouse to handle issues surrounding the recently announced UEFA directives. A statement issued by the club reads:- Rangers Football Club today (Wednesday) announced it has appointed Media House International Ltd as Public Relations consultants for the Club's ongoing anti-sectarian campaign. Media House, which has offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and New York, will provide strategic advice and lobbying expertise to the Club on communicating its range of anti-sectarian initiatives and policies. Media House will work with Rangers to ensure fans, football authorities, the media, politicians, the Scottish Executive and campaigning groups are aware of the extensive activities the Club is undertaking to tackle sectarianism amongst the minority of its support. Martin Bain, Chief Executive of Rangers Football Club, said: "Rangers Football Club undertakes a wide range of initiatives aimed at combating sectarian behaviour among a small number of supporters. Media House has been brought on board to ensure we communicate these activities and to provide strategic advice and lobbying expertise on future initiatives. "The Club is determined to eradicate this problem and welcomes the overwhelming support of the majority of supporters in helping us to achieve this."
  12. At the back of the St Enoch Centre across from Slater Menswear and Legs 'N' Co...
  13. Hoping to make it myself but depends on what time we get through. Planned on taking the train but having to change plans....
  14. Gavin Rae is not a right back and would be far from my choice to play there. Hutton Lowing (currently injured) Murray Ricksen Ponroy McMillan That's the players we have who can play in there in my own order of preference. In saying that I wouldn't mind if we bought another player. Anthony Réveillère of Lyon would be my favored signing if we could get the money together as he can also play as a left back as well.
  15. The Blue Order have hired out the upstairs function room in Annie Millers on saturday for a pre-match meetup. We would like to invite all forum members and fans groups along to have a pre match meetup and party. It will be a chance to get to know each other but more importantly we will be making a recording of the new songs and chants The Blue Order will be trying to introduce this season. All members of Follow Follow ,The Club Deck Loyal, Enclosure Loyal , Family Section Loyal ,Copland Loyal as well as all like minded Bears and fan groups are warmly invited to the meetup. Obviously the more that come the better this will sound !!! We look forward to seeing yo u there from 11.00 am onwards
  16. Superb job guys...
  17. It won't disappear overnight. This kind of thing takes time and UEFA/SPL/SFA realise that. The directive has certain stipulations attached to it. At the minute the club are trying to follow these in order to remove the offending words/chants while working behind the scenes to contest the main thrust of the directive. If we can show a real improvement over the next few months, then it will be easier to go back to UEFA and ay the song shouldn't be banned but the offending words changed to something more palatable. That is certainly achieveable IMO.
  18. I was delighted with the system on Sunday. Thought Dado was a bit isolated at times but generally everything worked pretty well and nokiss has his analysis spot on. There were a few long balls but as long as this doesn't dominate our game then as cal said it's better to mix it up somewhat. All in all, lots to get excited about and I can't wait for Saturday.
  19. There are teams interested in Ricksen.
  20. I agree mate. Some songs and the words added to them can be debated but there's no doubt without a team performing well and some exciting football the atmosphere has suffered anyway. There are a few new songs on the go and if we can promote these along with self-policing the contested ones then not only can we have a new team to be proud of but (over time) a modern support which cannot be challenged for the songs they sing.
  21. There is no way I'd give Ricksen another chance. I used to be one of his biggest fans but his form of last year and his behaviour of this means he should be sold as soon as possible. He had one good season in midfield but is a very poor right back and IMO behind Hutton, Lowing, Murray and even Jordan McMillan for that position. This is a 'man' who takes £20K per week from our club and continually lets us down on and off the park. And people want to give him another chance?

    Underhill

He's from Aberdeen but not sure who he supports...

    Underhill

Underhand is an appalling ref. I wonder if we'll see some video evidence with regard to Forlan?
  24. Getting rid of the less palatable chants was never going to happen overnight particularly amongst the away fans. Hopefully it will happen though over time and with further education of those that cannot see the damage that such songs will do to our club. Make no mistake our enemies WANT us to continue with the offensive stuff. That should be the main reason why our fans should stop. Sometimes in life you are presented with two options: one of which is uncomfortable and frustrating; the other being simply disastrous. It is vitally important that we choose the lesser of the two evils. We can gain some ground back with regard to the banned song if we show we can rid more of the irrelevant stuff. If not, then a song which we can all enjoy in it's less political form, could be lost to Ibrox forever.

    Next Week

Yep, barring injuries it will be the same team next week IMO. No-one deserves to be dropped but the only possible change PLG might make is to drop Adam, play Prso wide left and go with Boyd as the lone striker. That will possibly be the long term solution but I can't see PLG changing it for next week.
