  1. Previously I never thought he was worth 7million to us. However after yesterday we clearly can’t break them down without him, & we probably banked 7million from the Europa league anyway so can afford him now. Then again we could have saved the £7m by just keeping Candeias..

Managers don’t have the influence they once did anyway. Maybe one or two, but mostly it is all about players & how much you spend on them. Look at Juventus, PSG, Chelsea a few years ago.. changing the manager frequently yet keeping the success going. The manager is just a coach now, they don’t even sign the players. It’s not like when the likes of Walter Smith, Alex Ferguson & even Jock Stein used to dictate everything at their club.
  3. Bruce Dickinson is a self-confessed Rangers supporter. Also a qualified pilot who has flown the team for Euro ties in the past!
  4. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some activity tomorrow. In and out. The way ahead now is to win the League Cup, qualify for the EL last 32 & still be within touching distance with celtic in the league before we go to Parkhead at Xmas. I suspect we will play them at Hampden again before then though. That will be a massive game. If we haven’t improved by then, it really can’t be dismissed as a bad day at the office..
  5. I think this is right. Before the game I felt it wasn’t as important as usual, as there are 34 games still to play. The loser could be 10 pts in front before the next meeting at Xmas. However it was the performance more than the result that disappointed. It simply looks like we have not improved since last season. Therefore we won’t win the league. I think Davis keeps trying to walk the ball into the net as he doesn’t have the legs to beat players any more. Again you have to ask why he is being asked to play 2 games a week at his age. And I have watched every Rangers game live this season, except for the one in Denmark. Today I was watching on TV though, maybe you see things better when you’re at the game.
  6. Alternatively we could just keep doing the same thing over and over again & somehow hope for a different result. Or is that the definition of insanity..? ?
  7. I must be missing something here. Maybe 3 out of 11 Rangers players (McGregor, Flanagan & Arfield) got pass marks against celtic, the one game they should be judged on. Wholesale changes are required to the first team. This isn’t panicking. A performance like that in an OF game is completely unacceptable, and always would have been in my 42 years as a Rangers fan. We have a huge squad of international players now, if that performance doesn’t open up spaces in the first XI then the likes of the squad players I named above would be as well leaving on free transfers. Gerrard wants competition for places. Well, on that basis then Goldson, Davis, Aribo, Defoe & Kamara must be benched now. Maybe even Tavernier as well..
  8. Anyway, the good news is we have players in the squad who have been waiting. Now they must get their chance. Helander & Andy King spring to mind immediately. Maybe even Docherty, Barisic, Halliday & Greg Stewart. Hard to see who we bring in to midfield, though you could argue we had too many players in there today. But Helander in particular must start now. Goldson gave away the 1st goal today & Katic disappointed as well. Both make too many mistakes, the big Swede must come in now.
  9. Morelos is our best player. It would have to be a pretty good reason to drop him tbh..
  10. So why do you think he never picked Morelos then??
  11. You agree that it wasn’t even a booking?? Bearing in mind McGregor also blatantly dived in the 2nd half. Madden bottled it, understandably due do sectarian threats to his family from celtic.
  12. Worth remembering that we were actually on top when Callum McGregor wiped out one of our players & Madden never even booked him. The exact same thing he sent Jones off for. Could have been a different game, & Madden not sending McGregor off is a direct result of the celtic campaign against him, Tom Boyd’s sectarian comments as well. Rangers need to make a statement about this. That being said, we were completely outclassed & they looked every inch a team with twice as high a wage bill as us. I keep reading about how they had 5 debutants at the back, but that was their weakness last season & Lennon spent £10million on those players. As if they would miss donkeys like Lustig & Boyata! They look much stronger defensively than before & sadly I do not see them dropping many points this year. Did Gerrard actually underestimate them? You simply don’t leave out your best player in your biggest game. Has he fell out with Morelos or something? I reckon Stevie G was playing the same narrow tactics he beat them with in May, but they are a better team than they looked in that game & we didn’t create any real chances today. Not one player looked up for it & Gerrard got outthought by a guy with much more experience of these fixtures than him. Lessons to be learned all round. Of course we were tired, there are still 34 games to play (half before the next OF game) & we surely can play a helluva lot better than that. But on that evidence I don’t see them dropping any points, so looks like we will need to beat them in a Cup to win anything this season. We could get to the last 32 in Europe, but would that even keep Gerrard in a job if they win the treble again??
  13. That’s Juventus won the title again then..
  14. Yes, although as the ‘offence’ was at an away game I think an away ban would have been more ‘appropriate.’ I do think we should close a different section this time though. Can’t blame this charge on the UBs. Also the club should drop the self-imposed travel ban for the 1st game.
  15. Well well, what to make of this?? Could the ‘freelancer’ be anything to with Hollicom?? That mob are losing credibility if they are, between this & the ‘Hammarby infiltration’ nonsense. Rangers should demand to know who the lying freelancer is.
  16. It counts the last 5 years, and not the current year. I think we would be seeded in all 4 qualifying rounds next season. As for the draw, similar standard to last season. Porto by far the best, any one from the other 3 could go through. Only difference is I think Porto will take it more seriously, I didn’t think Villarreal fielded their strongest XI in the groups last season. Hopefully Feyenoord away is first if that is the game Gers fans are banned from.
  17. I have just realised the song Legia were singing at the game, which has been stuck in my head all night, is “you are not alone” by Michael Jackson..
  18. Whoever we get we can qualify. Unlike the CL there can only be 1 really top team per group, if even that. Indeed even one of the English sides would be beatable, given they tend to play reserves & not take this competition seriously. Our seeding is artificially low, 90% of potential opponents are no better than Legia, Maribor, Midtylland & the teams we played in the groups last year. They genuinely would want to avoid us as the bottom seed. Incidentally I see Luxembourg have a team through again..
  19. Though I doubt the tims will get away with that defence, even if their compliant media won’t question it. ‘Police brutality’ would have been more believable, we have all witnessed that on away trips, however Uefa always side with the police. It’s bizarre, but almost like the GB see the UBs getting us banned from Europe, & think they have been outdone somehow, so have to cause more trouble themselves. Like keeping up with the Joneses for neds. A contest to see who is the most ‘mental.’ I honestly think that is the mentality with these groups!
  20. Did Legia even have any female fans? Anyway I have been watching ‘Orange is the new Black’ on Netflix and apparently it is legal for male prison officers to search females over there..
