SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)
Bill replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
"Look for a consensus with the BBC" If that's really how far we've travelled as a support then we might as well give up now. Thankfully, right-thinking fans realise this is just pie-in-the-sky lunacy. -

Yes but all clubs will be obliged to sign the same contract and it won't be Rangers that writes it -

I don't think we are. I think the host club is obliged to offer them, that's all. I think what we cannot do as a club is tell our fans directly not to attend - but I could be wrong about that. -

Is that it? After all the talk about "evidence"? That's beyond disappointing. How can we criticise the SPFL when our own board acts like this? Ffs. -
The thing about Newcastle fans is they're either getting rogered every week and you feel sorry for them, or they're winning and utterly insufferable.

There are a lot of people making proposals they must know can never be implemented, presumably because it feels good to do so. Given the silence and lack of leadership from Ibrox, I think we need to forget about the last week or so, until such time as a genuine opportunity to influence the SPLF/Celtic situation arises. To repeat myself, boycotting away games is the only effective option currently within our control - and there is absolutely no basis to believe that will ever happen. At the moment I think this particular episode is over in any practical sense. -

I agree Craig, we certainly don't have it. But as always, describing the problem is a very long way from describing the solution. Gaffer mentioned the only really powerful leverage we have and it's clear no one wants to use it - boycotting away games. -

Yes, right up until it enters the public domain. It may be that Rangers is already being proactive behind the scenes but, we'll never know unless we make another arse of it. I wasn't impressed with the threats of "evidence" last week. You don't parade threats like that in public if you actually have such evidence - you use it quietly and effectively. I'm afraid the blame for at least some of our current status has to lie at our own feet. -

This is a complex issue with many facets. My point was principally that we won't change outcomes by complaining among ourselves about the predictable conduct of the SPFL and it's colluding media. Of course the SPFL is a den of corrupt bastards but frankly no one is listening and no one cares how often we point it out. We may be right but that won't change a thing. That said, I do agree with your points about supporter morale and away games. I've long been an advocate of boycotting away games - it seems such an easy and effective way to bring many clubs to heel but I've also long ago given up hope our fans would see sense on this. As for morale, it's very important but it's also something we have little control over if it depends on subduing a hostile SPFL or media. Much of it is down to how Rangers conducts itself and that hasn't exactly been glorious in recent years. In the end though, only a league title is really going to look after morale. I thought we might be starting to come out of the doldrums but performances over the last few months have left me quite demoralised. Players, manager, board? Where do you look for the answer? Certainly not to the SPFL if you actually want things to change. -

It really doesn't matter a whole lot. At least beyond letting off steam, which is probably quite important in its own way. Whether we shrug or howl, the outcome will be the same in my opinion. So unless shrugging or howling is seen as the measure of success or failure, I wouldn't worry too much which one is chosen. -

You might be right, in which case our boot would have been on the other foot entirely. Nevertheless, my point still stands, there is only one place we will ever win this battle and it isn't in courts or committee rooms. -

This is like complaining about leopards having spots. We've known for a long time exactly what the SPFL is like? We know what the media is like and how they line up against Rangers. We know how organised those forces are and how motivated by bigotry they are. We've also seen for a long time how little we can do about it. Now that doesn't mean we shouldn't do what we reasonably can to fight our corner. But it does mean that howling at the moon won't change anything. The only place we can win this fight is on the field of play. No matter what referees do to put obstacles in our way, when we play football as we can and should play it, we win. Up until New Year we did that and we put ourselves in pole position. If we'd kept that up we would now be getting ready to welcome the league trophy back to Ibrox. But we didn't and that's the really important thing here. Not incessantly describing the leopard's spots. -

Is there anyone dishonest enough to say we wouldn't want the title awarded to us if we were currently points ahead of Celtic? The truth is we performed on the park like donkeys since New Year and the outrage at the undoubted SPFL is essentially because we are grasping at straws to prevent Celtic having 9 titles in a row. We'll see if Rangers has anything that will set the SPFL back on its heels. I hope they do but it won't have any bearing on Celtic being gifted their 9 in a row. -

Oh really, you didn't know all of that years ago? Are you seriously saying the most important aspect of this is that the SPFL is behaving as it always has done? Save the indignation. I couldn't give a shit if Celtic lift the league trophy. I only care that we didn't. If we had, none of this would worry any of us. -

You'd think we lost the league title to Celtic because we haven't yet proven SPFL guilt of corruption. When all along it turns out it was because we couldn't beat f*cking Hamilton Accies at Ibrox, among various other gutless performances. -

If Rangers doesn't reveal a credible case against the SPFL then it could well Rangers sitting in the dock, with the SPFL sitting in judgement. -
To be fair, some of what I've watched since New Year wouldn't be out of place lining a cow's stomach.

The objective isn't just to be good though. It's to be good enough .... and we haven't been. Hence the current league standings.

It would certainly add some mustard if a formal complaint was received by the police. -

I thought Roy MacGregor was better than being a bag carrier for the SPFL. -

It's an omnishambles from start to finish. Classic fukkwittery in the best traditions of Scottish football. Even when they fukk up, they fukk that up too. Impressive really. -

I don't think they ever thought it would. The delay is simply to establish the narrative that Celtic get the title and to make sure UEFA don't put obstacles in the way. The SFA and SPFL are such utter bastards.
