I believe fan paticipation is essential at football matches (see Red Star Belgrade's home results in CL for reason). I believe fan participation is juvenile at music concerts (see people at Sex Pistols concerts for reason). The guy next to me on Thursday never said a word, never sang and never even clapped once. I felt like tapping him to check if he was a mannequin. The best thing would be to make specific areas for people who want to stand, sing and have a laugh. Everyone else already has the Copland Road Stand, Govan Stand and Main Stand, Enclosures and Club Deck anyway.

Teams tend to up their game against us. We have lost comprehensively every time we've played them at Tynecastle since we returned to the top flight.

Pissed people, who are standing up, seem to create a better atmosphere. I don't think there's any doubt there's more singing at our European matches. I suppose we could stick to the Saturday library approach.

Hearts fans know if you want to sit down you don't go into that section. Similar to BF1 at Ibrox. Budge might rid herself of some miscreants but future generations might find Tynecastle less appealing. Standing up is more healthy. I'm nearly 40 and prefer standing at the football.
