I think that Gazza makes a fair point. Walter has't exactly produced unknown players out of a hat while at the club.

Depends on what you call a rabbit.

He's had plenty of unexpected successes.

Starting with goalkeepers, he was the first to recognise we didn't to go outside the club to find a top keeper and gave MacGregor no 1 status. He then plucked an ex-Scottish goalkeeper from a declining career and found a truly excellent backup - something that is very difficult to do for that position.

He also took a young player who was being booed and turned him into a 9M player. He signed Broadfoot on a free to a very cool response from the fans and he's been pretty good for us.

He took a very old defender and made him the bedrock of the team while facing "Dad's army" derision and the guy is still doing a great job for us at 39.

Spotted Cuellar when the whole world had ignored him and what a purchase he turned out to be.

When no-one thought we could replace the Spaniard he found a player almost as good who was an EPL reject in Bougherra.

When we were crying out for a new centre half he filled other positions, sent one out on loan, and chose to rely on a 17 year old as a back up who has played really well for the team.

He inherited a pretty ordinary looking centre half and turned him into a pretty solid left back.

Found Beasley and Edu in the states who are proving to be pretty useful if injury prone.

Plucked Darcheville and Cousin from obscurity and both did fantastically for us at home and in Europe.

Turned a controversial striker into a hero.

Brought back a very unpopular and unrated player, stuck to his guns and now that player is a linchpin in the team.

I think there's a lot of rabbit pulling in there.

Cal, you're missing the point. We're talking young, untested and untried players. WS has hardly, in both his stints in charge turned a promising youngster into a 1st team regular.

Of course players need to take a look at themselves but training methods and techniques need to be looked at also.

Also, I hardly think Darcheville did "fantastically" for us domestically or in europe.

It's difficult to say from the youtube footage, but he doesn't look like the type of player we need. He looks decent enough I suppose, strong, comfy on the ball & his height could be a bonus, but we could really be doing with someone that can do similar damage to a defense that Miller can do because Miller is out of the team again for the time being & may well float in and out for the rest of the season. So, I'd much rather we'd found a striker to fill Miller's boots or another one that scores goals for fun like Boyd because we're really missing Boyd atm and in all honesty have no idea when he'll be back & playing his best. This player Kujovic looks like neither Miller or Boyd. He actually looks more similar to Lafferty than anyone else we have, but with a bit of luck he'll be a better talent than Lafferty & some Stevie Wonder of a manager will give us 2 or 3 million for Lafferty.

Not trying to put a dampener on the news of a new player before we even see him play though. Just sharing some thoughts.

Google translation:

HBK's Emir Kujovic for Celtic?

Celtic could have made a bid of 10 million SEK for Kujovic. Completely in the direction of Mowbray interest for Scandinavian players. Kujovic can become the fourth player who comes from a Scandinavian club this month.

According to the football channel can Halmstads Emir Kujovic be on his way to Celtic. 21 year old's expected business with Lazio went on grief after the agent Cabrera once again did not agree with the Club of Rome. Rangers are interested to be sold Pedro Mendes. But as the football channel sources, it is not Rangers, but Celtic who contacted Halmstad and that they are considering a bid of 10 million crowns.

Celtic now has even lost McManus and Fox, it means that a total of 6 players left the club in January. But Mowbray has also bought players in Hooiveld, Rogne, Ki and the latest Rasmussen. Celtics striker has fiercely difficult to score, and this is where Mowbray tried to reinforce. Could it then mean that Kujovic come to the club before the window closes?

It is possible that Kujovic with its size and technology may be useful for Celtic. It really would not surprise me. Mowbray has recruited fresh from the Scandinavian countries and the players will troligvis arrive before the transfer window closes and the Emir Kujovic actually feels like a fairly realistic solicitation of Mowbray
