Had to go for Davie Weir.

 

 

My only criticism of Davie is that I really wish he had the ability to clear the ball with his left foot instead of giving away as many corners. He gave away several last night that would have been avoided by a good two-footed defender. Still had a cracking game though and gets my vote.

12 European games, no goals, another couple of good chances missed, an assist blown, the lack of running when our beleaguered defence were screaming for an out ball only to look up and see Miller over the other side, standing 5 yards offside, making no attempt to either get back onside or make a run.

 

The facts are there for us all to see. We have played 5 games in the CL this season with Miller playing the lone striker, and we have scored 2 goals, neither of them by him. He is so out of his depth at this level it is cringeworthy, and surely it puts to bed once and for all this notion that he can actually play a lone striker role.

 

How many times did a McGregor kickout get won in the air by Naismith and flicked on, only for Miller to be nowhere near it as he chose not to move into position? His performace last night, while sadly all too predictable to this bear, was not worthy of even a 1 out of 10. It was that bad, and he is that bad.

 

We have been continually told that Boyd could not play up front on his own, was lazy, didnt make runs etc etc, but the Euro performances of Miller have made Boyd look like Messi. Miller might have been able to keep up a fantastic domestic scoring record, but as many have said before, any Rangers centre forward getting the service we provide domestically should score 30 goals a season.

 

I have always disliked him, probably always will, but performances like last night, coupled with every one of his previous 11 in a Rangers shirt in European action, shows the true man, and it is one i'd rather not have anywhere near Ibrox thank you very much.

I used to get shot down for a "dislike" against Boyd which was thought to be personal. It couldnt be further from the truth as it was pure a footballing reason. To me it sounds like your stuck in the 80s and bitter Miller played for Celtic for your dislike to him.

 

Miller is easily proven a better all round player than Boyd at all levels. WS tactics are to blame for him being isolated. Do you expect Naismith's header to be pinpointed to Millers exact location????

For the record, yet again, I disliked Miller long before he signed for them and was actually delighted when he signed for them as his lack of quality, coupled with big wages, was always more advantageous to us than to them.

 

Let's keep this to what it is actually about - his piss-poor record in European football over 3 seasons since his regretful return to our club. 12 games, no goals, played as centre forward in all games, sometimes with a partner but mostly without. Sitters against Kaunas cost us that tie, and his continued lack of composure at this level when presented with chances has resulted in us not getting the results our play from the rest of the side has merited.

 

At this level he is an empty shirt, pure and simple, and all the facts and stats prove it. Still not convinced, then watch any of his 12 Euro games and tell me which one he deserved pass marks from? Watch them all again if you like, he doesnt merit pass marks in any of them.

 

I will accept his goals tally this season is far more than I thought was possible from such a poor player, and he had a run of form (during contract negotiations strangely!) that was impressive, but you know the old saying, form is temporary, class is permanent, and his (lack of) class is showing through yet again, if you can see past the penalties and tap-ins (which were not good enough for Boyd to get backing)

When are our fans going to realise that, given our current predicament, allied to the obscene finances being provided to the major leagues, that European football is nothing other than a nice wee excursion and a money spinner for us ?

 

Our bread and butter is the SPL currently - it is critical to win it yet again - and Miller's goals are doing as much, if not more, than anyone in seeing that happens.

 

Also, in the last 5 years just who exactly HAS been a "CL standard" striker for us ? I cant think of anyone to be honest - more than happy to be proven wrong though. We have plenty of players who are not of that standard - in fact most of our players are not of CL standard if we are being honest, yet you constantly bark on about Miller - there is absolutely no doubting you have a personal dislike for Miller more than any other player - so much so that you completely refuse to acknowledge the excellent contribution that he has provided to us in terms of domestic dominance.
