Aye, makes sense to blame the manager for a player who conveniently was with us for 4 years and 3 of those were injury-laden.... whilst the other was out on loan for Dundee Utd where he somehow lost that injury jinx.... Why is it that the manager should be blamed when you have NO IDEA what went on behind closed doors and, in fact, rumour has it that Webster's head simply wasnt able to cope with being at Rangers ? AND he was a bargain at about �£2.7M. Then there's Rino Gattuso who was destined for great things at Ibrox until he was discarded by DA. You can add Gazza, Hateley, McCall, Goram and many others to the list of great signings. He's had a fair few that haven't worked out but who hasn't? Some of our worst have been under Le Guen and Eck while DA and Souness needed revolving doors. When you get this kind of criticism, you really have to wonder who is the example for the minimum standard? To really judge how good or bad Walter's record is, I think his overall results and trophy haul are what count. He's the only Rangers manager in my lifetime, who has competed for the league until the last day of every season and won the vast majority of them while winning a surfeit of cups and completing two of the best 6 European runs in our history.
