It would have been far far smarter to have dealt with it quietly back in May or June. Same goes for the Donald McIntyre case. If they simply had to go, then the pair of them could probably have been paid off quickly and quietly for little more than what the legal expenses are going to amount to. As it stands now due to how it's been dealt with, the pair of them have succeeded in having the court arrest sums of money from the club that are probably larger than it would have taken to pay them off in the first place.
