Smith consortium withdrawing bid ??!

Recommended Posts

It is a confusing statement to me.

They wanted to know the consortium members, funding etc and this information was not forthcoming so Smith's group made an offer.

The final sentence reads, to me at least, that Smith's group still havent received that information.... so if that is the case why would they withdraw the offer ?? Or is the final sentence suggesting that they HAVE received that information ? It certainly doesnt look like they have received the information they requested.

I dont actually think this is good news at all, all this statement does for me is muddy the water.

Agreed. It identifies their main concerns, but these don't match up with the actions they appear to have taken.

You could take it as...

Smith's group requested the info. They didn't receive the requested info so decided to place a bid for the club.

They have since received that info, and have decided that a takeover is no longer needed ie. CG has the funds etc, and withdrawn.

So the McColl/Park consortium have walked away, using the flimiest of excuses, leaving a club more divided and more uncertain than it was before they appeared, and have still not given any hints as to what their plans for the club would have been.

This whole episode is disappointing in every way.

King said yesterday that he "wasn't unhappy" after the meeting with Green , today Walters team withdraw their bid .

That suggest to me that they have now been provided with the "significant information" they had asked for and that they are now happy Rangers are in safe hands.

Could be wrong though because nothing is ever as it seems in this sorry saga.

or it's clear Green has no money and Smth et al will just sit and wait until Green comes calling to them to bail him out ???

True, you could take it as that, but you could also take it other ways.

FFS! How hard is to release an unambiguous statement to the press?

If McColl and Park have genuinely walked away at virtually the first hurdle then that is shocking IMO. Are they not up for the fight ??
