Transfer thread - OFFICIAL!! David Templeton signs 4 year deal

The Good Doctor hasn't been the same since Gretna were promoted to the 1st Division.

I'd rather we signed Kevin Kyle than Kenny Deuchar.

How about we sign both and Deuchar can be Kyle's personal physician?

Rangers are considering a move for Romanian midfielder Andrei Ionescu, Sky Sports understands.

The 24-year-old is set to leave Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp due to issues over wages not being paid.

And Rangers have been alerted to the midfielder and are ready to make a move.

Ionescu, who spent time in PSV Eindhoven's youth academy, has spent most of his career in Bucharest playing for Universitatea and more recently Steaua.

He left Steaua last summer to move to Belgium, but after one season with Antwerp he is ready to leave.

Ally McCoist is rebuilding his squad following their demotion to Division Three - but a number of players are still attracted to the Ibrox outfit, and one of those is Ionescu.

MAURICE EDU has told Ally McCoist he wants to quit Rangers before the end of the month.

The US international confirmed his intentions in a meeting with his Ibrox boss yesterday.

The 26-year-old is still waiting for a firm offer after a move to Spanish side Valencia collapsed, but it is his intention to quit the Light Blues in the current transfer window.

The former Toronto midfielder, who has a £300,000 release clause, is aware of interest from Sampdoria and French side Valenciennes.

Edu, above, wants to move to safeguard his spot in the US team.

McCoist also held talks with Carlos Bocanegra, Kirk Broadfoot and Dorin Goian.

All three said they would be happy to stay but couldn’t rule out leaving in the transfer window.

Alejandro Bedoya has returned to Ibrox, but he could be on the move soon.

He was set for a move to Helsingborgs but that has been put on hold after the Swedish side saw the sale of one of their players fall through.

Greek midfielder Pantelis Kafes has begun training with Rangers as he attempts to secure a contract with the Ibrox club.

The former international took part in a full training session with the Rangers first team squad at their training base in Auchenhowie on Thursday.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has been rebuilding his squad over the summer as he prepares for a promotion campaign in SFL Divison Three.

Having already signed Ian Black and Dean Shiels, McCoist had said that he was hopeful of adding more signings and had said there was a willingness to do a deal with Kafes.

The 34-year old Greek midfielder won 40 caps for his country and played over 300 top flight matches for olympiakos, PAOK and AEK Athens.

He is currently a free agent after leaving Athens at the end of last season.

Not sure we need a 34 year old midfield player.

Some more transfer babble ...

La Liga Trialist - Elliot Kebbie

RANGERS have given Atletico Madrid winger Elliot Kebbie the chance to win a move to Ibrox.

The English youngster has arrived at Auchenhowie so manager Ally McCoist can take a closer look at him.

Kebbie came through the ranks at Leeds United before the Spanish side paid compensation to lure him from Elland Road.

The jet-heeled 17-year-old trained with the Light Blues along with Greek midfielder Pantelis Kafes yesterday. Kafes, 34, is set to pen a cut-price deal for the season.

The former Olympiacos midfielder, who has 40 caps, is a free agent after leaving AEK Athens.

McCoist is hoping Craig Beattie will sign and there is also a possibility that fellow striker Kevin Kyle could also be dealt in.

However, more departures are likely, with midfielder Maurice Edu already confirming he wants to leave.

Carlos Bocanegra, Kirk Broadfoot and Dorin Goian could also leave, with interest in all three defenders.

Thats what I've said we have about 5 or 6 already, we don't need another one and a veteran at that. Strikers is what we need and its been like that for nearly 18 months....

Plus I thought the 3rd Division would push us towards youngsters from the youth not foreigners over 30, depressing that signing policy imo hasn't changed much.

Methinks it has been said already: a) we can probably sign u18 youngsters and develope those we have still - during this year long embargo, and b) we need some old experienced hands to help us through these leagues of seasoned footballers as well as prepare for an eventuality that is called restructuring of the Scottish Leagues. For I wouldn't put past the SPL/SFA to swap and change and force-promote us next season.

Can't exactly follow the argument about over30s either, we have one in goal, three in defence (with all three not yet sure to stay), one in midfield (McCulloch) and none in attack. That is the status quo. Opportunities galore for any youngster to make a name.
